Lazy Sunday – Live at the Cavern Club

We genuinely always enjoyed ourselves on stage …

However, “Lazy Sunday” has got to take the cake when it comes to fun songs to perform. We dare you – try singing along with this, cockney accent and all, and not find yourself grinning from ear to ear afterwards.

Its chaotic energy is perfect for the stage! 😉

May your weekend be fun, and your Sunday be lazy!

  1. I’ve been listening to this CD for about 3 months now in my car but haven’t watched a lot of these videos. It’s fun watching them and seeing how much fun you are having on stage. Cool stuff.

  2. Oh yeah, been waiting to see the video of this one for a long time! It’s always my favourite part of the Live album when Lazy Sunday comes on. You both just aced this one. Such awesome energy and passion that makes the listener just want to rock out, captivating. Love it! This one and Kansas City too. And of course Mr Postman, love them all. 🙂

  3. I love your version of that song and it looked like you both were having so much fun playing it. In addition to just the pleasure of getting to hear your songs, one of the things that I love so much about watching the videos of you performing your songs for an audience is that they always make me smile! You always appear to have such great rapport with the audience and you clearly love performing for them. It shows on your faces! I would love to be able to see you perform live! Maybe some day!

  4. There are certain songs that have to be played with a smile…..and not just by the performers. These two always do things with so much taste and flair and the fun just oozes from their performance here as a result. If the band is having fun then their audience will be as well.

One lovely thing I spotted here was Lisa smiling (mid-performance) for someone as they took a photograph. True class (although it could be for publicity photos of course but there appeared to be more than one camera). Of course, smiles are one thing that Mona and Lisa give so freely.

  5. I just finished a 70+ hour work week. Exhausted, I plopped down on my couch with my laptop and saw this little gem. Tapping my toes and bopping my head, suddenly I’m no longer tired. You have an infectious energy and this song is perfect for you two! Thank you for making me smile this weekend! With love from New York!

  6. Love the cockney accent. If only more songs were clearly this fun. Hopefully one day they’ll be live concerts to attend and then ….

  7. Love it! I still have the original 45… Now when can we have the DVD of this night?
    Much love to you both.

  8. The latest gig by Mona and Lisa on the iconic Cavern Club stage was a blend of talent, ability, energy, a great set list and especially a lot of joy from both the audience and the band on stage., and the special charm that Mona and Lisa have in their movements, looks, smiles. .. wow ..we have one more piece of this wonderful night. thank you dear girls.. stay groovy..

  9. Hi, Ladies, what another great performance of an oldie from the Small Faces! Your performing on stage is always a great pleasure for me. Carry on!
Have a lazy Sunday too, Frank.

  10. Hi Ladies!

You can feel the enthusiasm Explode from the stage! If you can’t get enthusiastic and bouncing off the walls then you’re dead or very sick. Such a perfect song for you all during your set!
I would think your energetic personna and pure joy you exhibit while playing rubs off on all of us.
    Keep being you Ladies

  11. I’ve always loved that song on the jukebox. But, WOW!!! Seeing them perform I was over the moon (said hi to Janitor Joe). What a day for a day dream. When I came back to earth I was cruising on a boat and blasting all of their music. I feel an invigorated sense of optimism about the future. No, I’m not on drugs. Just high on life.

    1. Diana,
OMG Well put Hight on Life! That is my motto and when you listen to the Mona Lisa Twins you get high just feeling the love they put into their music, and your correct no drugs here just pure love for the music that they play! Thank you Diana

  12. It’s been a rough week, I needed that! What a happy, fun, cheery song by the two people who can lift my spirits higher than any other performers out there. Thank you sooooooo much. The only thing better would be to have been in the audience that night. Fantastic performance. Love to see you having fun on stage. It is contagious. Loved it!!!

  13. finally i have been waiting forever. this and kansas city are my two favorites from the cavern cd. thought you enjoyed playing it and the video proves it. thanks. come on kansas city.

    1. 100% correct John, I can’t wait for Kansas City too, just seeing and hearing Lisa say ALL RIGHT before the lead part of the song, so yes come on Kansas City video!!!

      1. they are very good live. it is too bad they no longer play live. i thought a good idea would be to have a live performance on the roof of woolgoose records.

      2. The Faces were a real good band and sad that they are not together anymore but I did read Ron Wood and Kenny Jones are trying to do new music so that should be cool and to me? Any song by the Faces would be a cool cover by the Mona Lisa Twins. One song that comes to mins is actually Rod Stewarts album Never a Dull Moment and the opening track is True Blue and the guitar work on this track is Lisa to me.

  14. I absolutely love this song and you’ve really done it justice thank you for posting this it’s one of my favourites on live at the Cavern Club Album and it’s a favourite from the whole evening it brings back the memories of that night

  15. well, i got to admit – being a huge fan of the original, a huge Stevie Marriott fan, this version just rocks my socks off !!!!!!! you had such a blast on stage and the music was first class which is amazing under the circumstances it was recorded – this would fit in top 10 video playlist and def on my car media stick top tunes – prob get stuck on replay – lol

  16. I have learned and played a few of your songs and this one is a must!!!! You ML were having so much fun and I was having fun just watching, those smiles!!!! Way to go, it was great and Gert your right, Charlie on the drums made it fun too. I always love watching you guys play, I don’t mean guys as anything except in fun!! That’s what Rock n Roll does to you when your on stage, It gives me energy I didn’t think I had!!!! I think that’s why the video’s work so well because we see your expressions and there timeless!!! Thank you so much!!!!

      1. Hi Gert,
Hi Gert, I ‘m not that great at video but maybe. Thanks for
        the suggestion!!!! Groovy always!!!! Walt

  17. YES!!! I Have been waiting for this video! Wow such a great song and when I listen to this song I visualize you both having a great time performing this song. So much fun and love put into this song and if you can’t feel how good this makes you feel? Listen again and again and I Promise you will feel great like I do when I listen and now the video! The guitar riffs and drums and oh my the fun and smiles you both send to the audience it worth the time. I am not kidding I listen to this song when i am feeling down and this lifts me up and want to sing along and dance. I am waiting for Kansas City and Revolution to come to us as a video. Kansas City sounds like Lisa is having so much fun when you hear her say ALL RIGHT before the lead and Mona is tearing it up on Revolution wow but thank you so much for making our Friday so groovy and to see you both having such a good time and the bass and drums are off the chain!! Maddie was hand clapping along with this song!!
Love your biggest fans from Pittsburgh Pa USA

    PS
So did anyone stand up and clap and yell BRAVO!! LOL…Encore!!! I know I did!!

  18. Love your version of that song, looks like a lot of fun to play, hope ill be able to see you play live someday. I really like your drummer in those videos too. Really skilled guy playing the right drums for the kind of songs you play, and hes quite a showman too

  19. Ill have to agree, the energy of this song is great but seeing you perform it at the Cavern Club is over the top. This definitely started my friday morning with a burst of energy. Thanks for sharing this with us!!! Im looking forward to the day we will get the entire Cavern Club show on DVD!

  20. The first time I heard this on the live album, I questioned why it sounded like you all were laughing and singing. Now I see. These videos are so much fun to watch. We are so lucky you recorded this show.

We are helping our son relocate two hours away from home this weekend, so hopefully it will be followed by a lazy Sunday.

  21. Well Now that’s a Great Song to get Waking Up to on a Friday, but it’s more effective on Sunday…lol…. And yes, guilty, of grinning, singing along while watching/listening, a great Wknd Segway…Thankyou for making my Friday Morning come even more to life and my SleepyHead Brain Thanks You as well…. on this Humid HeatWave Friday Morning ….????

    1. Darryl, yes the F Chord….LOL..But Mona and Lisa know how to play that cord and make it sound groovy!!! Great post Darryl

  22. A super-fun, treasured Cavern song just got sooo much more fun with this video release! I didn’t know I’d missed so much with my ears that my eyes revealed anew! I do sing along with what passes as my cockney accent, but I’m sure I’m not pulling it off. However, my huge grin comes from listening to you two perform it! Such an over-the-top FUN Cavern classic vid! I hope you two(4, actually) have the laziest of Sundays, blissfully looking back at your 3-day marathon video shoot! That is, if you can spare the time away from editing….????‍????????‍????????????

  23. Have to say it again – best live band! Your energy and pure joy and happiness that you bring to the stage are amazing. Not sure whether Mona or Lisa is having a better time, but I thoroughly appreciate this wonderfully fun performance. Thanks for another great start to the weekend!

    1. Love this post Frank and yes BEST LIVE BAND ever!! Hope to see them someday in concert. know I see how the audience was back in 1964 seeing the Beatles for the first time….I will be the same way seeing Mona and Lisa Live in Concert!!
