“This Boy Is Mine” Rough Demo – Behind The Scenes Video
During the writing of “This Boy Is Mine”
Each song we write goes through many different stages before it ends up sounding like you hear it on the record. Sometimes the writing process is pretty straight forward and sometimes it takes a lot of twists and turns before arriving where we want it to.
We recently came across this super old demo version of “This Boy Is Mine” that we filmed on our phone while writing the song in 2010. We usually do that at several stages while writing so that we wouldn’t forget certain parts or melodies and to record the writing progress until we get to continue working on the tune.
It was obviously never our intention to publish this anywhere, and back then we didn’t even know we’d ever have something like the MLT Club, but we thought it was just a perfect little snippet of video to post here. Hear how different the melody of the bridge used to be?
We had completely forgotten about this stage of the song but that’s why we love rediscovering these old clips, and we thought you might get a kick out of it, too!
Let us know if you’d be interested in seeing more things like that in the future and we’ll see if we can dig up any other old demos and videos like this.
Have a great weekend ahead and lots of love,
Mona & Lisa
It is keenly interesting to see your collective and artistic Team MLT juices at work! Yes indeed, more-pretty please!
As always, “Thanks For The Memories!”
Absolutely! We love all things MLT.
Alles ist wichtig und wird gerne gehört.
YES, MORE PLEASE! It’s always fun to hear and see a work in progress. Totally enjoyed the video of setting up for “Still a friend of mine”.
So cool to see! Would love to see more!
Very nice!! Would love to hear (& see) more like it.
It is all about the process, and it is so cool to see the collaboration between Mona and Papa Rudi in this short clip. He is such a knowledgeable and calm mentor. He has given his daughters the opportunity to develop as musicians and to become such kind, well-rounded people as well.
Kudos to Papa Rudi! His love and expertise in the music field (we, as MLT Club members know that he was a successful producer in several genres of music in Austria) was given to Mona and to Lisa at an early age. We have all benefited from his guidance, tutorage, and love to his girls.
Thank you Mr. Wagner!
Dear Mona & Lisa,
what a wonderful song, I loved it when I heard it for the first time – a little bit beatleslike, .It’s very interesting how you exercise playing a new song. Please show us more of your work maybe in Abbey Road-Studios too, can not see enough.
Drück euch ganz doll
See you later

Yes, more please! It’s always interesting to listen to the Beatles early takes of their songs, to see how the arrangements evolve as they are built up. Always good to get an insight into the creative process.
Loved it. Very interesting. I would love to see more!
Thumbs up Rudi.
All songs have a beginning and thanks for sharing this with us. I do love this song as well and all the riffs on the guitar Lisa! When I watch the video of this song, it looks like so much fun , you both look at each other and play off each other. I remember on the 1972 Rolling Stones Tour they talked about Keith Richards and Mick Taylor play off each other with coming in and sharing riffs on leads and you ladies are doing this when you play! It is so cool to watch you both in your live video’s and your duo sessions , so fun and wonderful to witness! Bottom line? Your both the best!!! and we all love your music weather it is covered of original. STAY GROOVY!!

Hey Mona and Lisa,
I love this song and I have to tell you that, as simple as this comment may seem, your music makes me smile! It makes me happy! Can’t wait to see what you do next!
Some how I missed this! I love this and would love to see more of these snippets. It really gives us a chance to see the inside of putting a song together. It gives us a chance to see how one of our favorites was born ❤
?❤
I’ve posted this on another thread but I love BTS stuff! To see the creative process happening is fascinating! It always seemed to me that the songs kind of sprang full fledged from your brains! Was I wrong!
Yes..yes.. every minute of MLT
History is important and fascinating .. thanks
Loved seeing the creative process behind the scenes!
Someday it will be on the MLT Anthology video…
How interesting! I love seeing things like this. It helps me understand better what you all go thru to get a song recorded. Especially when its your Golden Kyack Award Winner.
More please ?❤
Oh, would absolutely love to see old clips etc like these. Anything that show even a glimpse into what goes into your creative efforts, various stages of development of one of your songs or videos for example would be priceless.
All of you, thanks for letting us know you enjoyed watching this! 🙂
We’re currently looking through more videos like this and will try to sort out some that are decent enough quality to share here in the upcoming weeks. Once a song is finished and, in a way, “how it should be” it’s so strange to see it again in its early stages! Some are hardly recognisable! 😀
Please do… Truly gems in their own right… Bonus…. Thoroughly enjoyed!!
For me this is Gold! Would love to see more too! ?❤
Loved seeing that blast from the past! Yes, would love to see more. Very interesting and always fun to share in your memories and see how your songs evolved. Fantastic! ???❤
Yes, I would really like to see other videos like this the song construction process is interesting to me. MIke.
Well, these lyrics are easier to remember, for me that English is not the first language. Now I’m gonna try to learn the chords.
Yeah, what they said! Fun to see how the babies hatch.
Wow… That was a gem in hiding… Safe place forgotten about.. Til now… Thoroughly enjoyed this. Yes quite different than finished version but you can still feel and sense and hear the remnants of what was to be the version as we all have come to know and love and enjoy…. Please share more safe and forgotten gems as you come across them…. Thankyou… Made my Rainy Friday Sunny 😀
I LOVE this behind the scene stuff! Great insight into a great song! And a great album! Thank you!
Who doesn’t enjoy watching the evolution of a song from the early stages to the final version? Keep them coming!
Excellent. I can understand why you got a kick out of rediscovering this old demo. I certainly got a kick out of it too! Yes, please publish more if you find them. It is very enlightening, and rewarding for us to be able to witness your creations evolving.
These snippets are a good reminder that the polished final products that we see don’t just happen, but take much work and repetition to develop. I’ve no doubt though that it’s not just all hard work and that you must get some joy from seeing your babies being created, so to speak.
I hope your current writing and recording is proceeding well, and as Rick says, thanks so much for thinking of us.
This is Wonderful! It shows how much the song progressed. I love little things like this. Please keep them coming.
Thanks for sharing ladies, and for thinking of all of us
