While I do love all the old hits (and some that weren’t) I still can’t get Let It Be off my all time #1 place. It’s just “Something” (pun heavily intended) in the way it moves me. And I think it always will. Maybe it was just the time in my life that it came out, but it just does it for me.

We’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Paul live ourselves, but my wife’s sister saw him a few years ago in Edmonton and raved about it. That’s #3 on my list of “should haves” next to Pink Floyd and The Stones. Too soon old, too late smart…😞

Thanks for the breakdown Phil. I have often wondered about Patreon and it’s workings. Several of the musicians and online instructors I follow have Patreon listings but I’ve never jumped on it to learn more about their covers and instruction. Knowing what you just explained I might not now!
I totally understand why they would do it, music teachers do need to make a living. When I had a guitar teacher he charged $100 a month for his services which I though was more than fair, he was an actual university of music professor and a doggone fine musician and exceptional player. He also had a solid background of stage work with some highly notable bands in the 80’s throughout Florida, Texas and Georgia. But it doesn’t take too long and you can easily spend a ton of money online, super easy to pile up a monthly credit card total if you’re not mindful of what you click on! I had so far managed to build a reasonable song list with tabs and covers from various sources and backing tracks. I only have a paid subscription to YouTube to download backing tracks for when I don’t have live web access when I’m in a remote location to play. That’s what most solo players/artists do around here for small time gigs. A smartphone or a tablet plugged into your board and away you go. -
Cool stuff Jeffery! I remember the Ed Sullivan show (my parents were totally disgusted, but they let us watch the ensuing madness), but not sure I knew about that Cavern Club date….I was only 5 at that time so that’s my excuse!

I was overjoyed to see this thread! I am such an MLT rookie compared to all of you! But the commonality of what drew us all to this incredible musical world is uncanny!
I stumbled on MonaLisa Twins by accident (or fate?) one day about 3 years ago and something just drew me into their music like iron filings to a magnet. The very visible love of the Beatles and 60’s era music was so evident in what I was watching and hearing I couldn’t help but become entranced by them. Sure, they are really easy to look at, but the musical ability and their obvious joy in performing was what snared me completely.
Soon I was feverishly looking for more and more covers and then pow! Original songs and even whole albums! I had already purchased The Cavern Club and Orange CD’s (thank God for Amazon sometimes) when I learned about the MLT Club. Then, I had the world’s worst time trying to become a member of this unique clutch of avid fans. Every time I tried to sign up I hit a road block with the computer, the sign-in process, or some silly button I didn’t click (likely my own admittedly limited web skills) that somehow prevented me from completing the requirements of joining up. Then about a year and a half ago I hit pay dirt, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I won’t call it a shrine, but I am fast acquiring a fair jag of MLT regalia down in my little guitar cave. And I’m not sorry for it in the least!
No matter where the Club goes from here, or how much it grows, there is the core group of you long time devoted members that does so much to make this place very special. I’m so very thankful to be part of this, and it is your open welcomes that have made it even more special. This is a place where we all come together for the same reason and share our passion for wonderful MLT music.
Thanks Jung, once again you absolutely nailed it!
Stay Groovy all!!!😍 -
I suppose I should have expected this, but boy, is the area itchy!! I’ve been using lots of lotion on it, there’s some flaking and dryness, not unlike one of my famous summer sunburns. To be expected I suppose, given it was under that protective wrap for 4 days. Last time AI remember an itch like this was inside the cast on my broken leg, and that was pure Hell… even thought of devising some form of scratcher device with a coat hanger for getting down to the heart of the matter (not to use Don Henley’s lyrics in vain) so to speak.
Last night sometime in the wee hours I woke up catching myself doing some scratching (although not severe) and immediately stopped myself. Got up and applied more lotion haha. Monday evening was another test of mental resistance wearing my heavy cotton canvas gi in the dojo. That raised all manner of temptation for fingernail relief! Tonight we are hosting a public self defense seminar with plenty of hands on grappling and escape techniques for the learners. Hopefully that doesn’t cause too much chafing of healing skin! -
Hehe, I likely never will…🤣

I totally get that. I’ve been looking for a while now. My biggest problem is I’m not a Mac user (never will be) and while I get the deal that Mac offers some things that PC/Windows based machines don’t… I’m a tad stubborn that way. But I have a B-in-law that is in the field so he’s looking for a decent refurb unit for me. I don’t have the space for a full size PC/workstation so a laptop is a necessity. And I’m not knocking out a wall in the basement!🤣

I don’t have a DAW (yet anyway), and I do need a laptop for my practice room to do more track downloads. I never thought I’d need or want that but it’s becoming more and more of a necessity for me.

Guys, I’m sort of a latecomer to the AC/DC fan club. In the 80’s I wouldn’t have given a plug nickel to see or hear them. Now though, a totally different attitude prevails. And I can thank my former guitar mentor for that. Serious guitar critics (not usually “actual renowned” guitarists) will say things like “Bah, all Angus does is repeatedly use nothing but power chords.” which is actually true for the most part. But it’s the degree of incredible accuracy and extreme proficiency he uses that makes him a great player in his own right. Angus is “meticulous”! He’s no Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck, that’s is a given. But what he does do he does so very well it’s scary. Something I would have never learned had I not decided to take playing seriously and immerse myself in all kinds/genres of music. Most people just see some goofball in a suit of schoolboy clothes (especially the hat and shorts) pretending to be Chuck Berry. But he and his late brother Malcolm pair and team up so well it is it’s own form of magic.
And that’s another cool thing about the Beach Boys and “Long Tall Texan” you guys brought up. When I graduated high school (Class of ’75), the Beach Boys had just been in their resurgence phase for a couple years and my boogie van could often be heard with the 8-track “best of” playing loud and proud in the local burger joint parking lot…that was kind of like our small town version of “Arnold’s” or “Burger City”. And yes, the volume usually got a tad louder when Long Tall Texan came on the rotation. But of course, that wasn’t “Country”. No self respecting modern dude would ever play anything as “hayseed” as C&W in public! Especially not in a cool looking custom van with fat tires on chromies, side-pipes, shag carpet and a “sultan’s den” bedroom in the back! -
I haven’t really followed Amy at all, but I think I need to! Cool video, thanks for sharing that Tim!

Thank you Jung, and yo echo much of my thought processes. I stayed away from FB and IG for a long time but finally relented when I actually got work pressures years back by most of our leading manufacturers. They insisted we use our personal social media to reach out to more prospective buyers. Unlike my financially wizard-ish brother I have been online banking for what seems like forever, at least as long as my institutions have offered it anyway. Roy eschews modern technology with a vengeance. “I don’t understand none of that s**t!” is his usual comment.😄 He has been my business mentor all my adult life, but he really needs to take some advice from his kid brother on a few things more contemporary.😉
Shame about your YouTube account, I’m no tech guru but you may have to start another account under a different email account. So far I’ve managed with just my gmail and another personal email which is my primary. I’m not very well versed on the YouTube system, but I need to get more involved and comfortable with it for my recording purposes. I managed to get it done with that live stream submission, but it was way outside the envelope for me. Time for this auld dood to learn some new stuff… It wasn’t all that long ago I had trouble figuring out patches and various programs and hookups for my modeling amps. Since I got that new to me Pod board I’ve stepped into a whole new world of sounds!

I can still see my folks expression when the camera flashed on the hoards of screaming girls in the rows of Ed Sullivan’s theater and the throngs of fans outside practically rioting to get a glimps of what was to become R&R history! “Isn’t that just stupid” was all my Mom could say. “Totally ridiculous” was Dad’s reply. I didn’t really get their point, I just wanted to see and hear them play after hearing their song “She Loves You” all over the radio in us three boy’s bedroom. Seems to me Ed himself had a bit of a dour look on his face as well, but that was sort of his schtick anyway if I recall. If he ever cracked a smile at all it was usually quite brief. I don’t think he even gave the Fab Four his trademark double arm lift to get the crowd to applaud at the end given the younger audience was already in fits of screaming adulation!🤣

Jeffery, growing old is mandatory…”growing up” is totally optional! Like Clint Eastwood said “never let the ‘old guy’ into your life!”😉

Thanks Jung. While it had its moments of discomfort, it wasn’t terribly painful. Towards the end I think the natural endorphins/adrenaline sort of wore off haha.
Kind of interesting your niece went that route, but if you get really good and get a solid rep for the work you do it pays pretty well from what Moose tells me. He’s been doing it for 25 years so he has quite the client base.
