I somehow have managed to see Paul live four times! At one concert I arrived about an hour early, and the PA system was playing Beatles/Wings/McCartney songs. The crowd was cheering and singing along to a lot of them, and that continued right up till showtime. The whole time I was thinking, “Wow, and these are songs that he’s NOT gonna do!” It really hit home how huge his repertoire is.

A small bit of musical trivia: one of the other acts on Ed Sullivan that night was a number from the Broadway musical Oliver! starring a pre-Monkees Davy Jones. Davy had been strictly a showtunes guy up to that point, but later said that seeing the crowd’s reaction to the Beatles made him want to get into rock and roll.

Here are the milestone predictions for the next month or so:
Here Comes the Sun: 900,000 views on February 4th
Lazy Sunday Afternoon: 200,000 views on February 10th
Morning Has Broken: 700,000 views on February 11th
You Can’t Do That: 2,000,000 views on February 13th
Paint it Black: 200,000 views on February 20th
Good Day Sunshine: 300,000 views on February 24th
Yesterday’s Gone: 100,000 views on March 4th
Tell Me Why: 400,000 views on March 6th
Baby’s in Black: 500,000 views on March 11th
Also, because of the surge in views in January, I missed out on predicting that I Bought Myself a Politician would reach 400,000 views, which probably happened around January 23rd.

Almost all video views are up substantially! Now I’m not certain that it was because of the public livestream… but I’m certain that it was because of the public livestream. The most surprising one is I’m Looking Through You, which typically gets about 400 views a day: in January it averaged eight times that!
Just for the record, Kansas City premiered at C = 1.36 (ranked 25) and V = 548 (ranked 24).

Gotta say I’m pretty impressed with this one!

I love this song too, Jung, but as an advocate of the “girl group” sound I feel I should point out that this is a cover of a 1963 song by the Crystals.

In 1977 Capitol put out a nice double album compilation of Beatles love songs that I purchased on cassette in the 80’s. It’s a shame it doesn’t get more attention. Here’s a link to the playlist:

I don’t know a lot about Alison Krauss either, Chris, but she did a nice cover of the Beatles’ song “I Will”.

Thanks, I’ll check out that channel. The titles of the videos certainly look interesting and diverse.
I was trying to think of a way to mark the 100M milestone that would be fun, unique, and not terribly time-consuming. All I can think of is a discussion thread where we re-post some of the most entertaining comments we can find about various MLT YouTube videos.

Okay, David, I gotta ask: who is the physics YouTuber?
-
Ah yes, K-tel records! I once hatched a get-rich-quick scheme where I would form a band called Much Much More, and then sue K-tel for falsely claiming that our songs were on their albums.

I was born in 1965 and had no slightly older relatives or older friends, so I didn’t learn much about 60’s music until I was able to explore it on an oldies radio station in the mid-80’s.
I really enjoyed the brief samples of songs I heard as a kid on TV commercials for greatest hits albums from the 50’s and 60’s, plus the use of old songs on Happy Days. But being limited to an allowance of 25 cents a week the only albums I ever bought back then were a collection of patriotic songs to honor the U.S. bicentennial, and a collection of late 50’s / early 60’s songs called “Fonzie Favorites”. I wore the groove down on both of them, though.

Agreed, Jeffery. Vincent isn’t too far out of the top 20 in views, though (V = 552, ranked 23rd). It usually gets between 300 and 400 views per day, but spiked in December for some reason. And Everybody’s Talkin’ is probably just suffering from the “sophomore slump” that all relatively new videos undergo as they seek their plateau viewing levels.
