Indeed a sad day for Canadians, a sad day for the Canadian Music Scene, I grew up on listening to his songs on radio and tv appearances, he even recorded a voicing of a song/poem on a recent Glass Tiger Xmas album …Indeed an iconic Canadian Music Legend, who’s left behind a plethora of beautiful heartfelt, diverse, rich music gifted to us all to embrace.

Perhaps in the future, Team MLT could tackle a song or two of his, feature his music on a WOTT episode … RIP Gordon Lightfoot 😔🇨🇦🍁🤘

Not sure if Hammond or not was used but the collaboration album of Cass Elliot with Dave Mason has that sound on a few songs …if I’ve already replied to this thread with this input, my apologies…I can’t keep track …lol…

Hi David…I love seeing when the Canadian born female violinist, Giselle would be on Jack Benny’s show, both doing the violinist thing ….lol

I also enjoy the fiddle music from a local gal from my area … April Verch (she lives in USA now, with her USA hubby )

Precisely …one is better off to do things their own way….it’s best to, and the fulfillment knowing you are content, etc.. far more worthy than cashing in/being stuck in record company rabbit holes and their BS… why be a product of mass profit manufacturing, etc when you can Be the one in charge, do things that make sense , be of value to you, etc….only you to control/answer to…. far better option ….🤘🏻💜☮️

Most radio stns nowadays are owned/run by under a major media corporation , thus have certain demographics in mind, etc to how the music programming format is to be setup/determined and like minded folks running things… I rarely listen to radio anymore…only have it on to wakeup to and go off an hour and half later or if in car riding with someone ….

Today’s music landscape in my view/perspective is manufactured crap ….sorry, but it is to me… it lacks originality, Musicianship like those of music past of who’s music caliber was far better crafted, distinctive, not entirely based on looks/either lacking true music Giftedness/how many CD/Albums sold with whatever record company one is signed with, etc …. Independent acts thrive better I believe, and for those musicians out there in their 60s -90s still going…they have proven why they can thrive for endurance …

Team MLT are but a rare caliber of endurance that will thrive for generations musically because of the mindset/integrity/ creative Musicianship/ attention/focus on establishing how to express their craft with utmost care/preciseness that allows all ages to appreciate, without needling to be manufactured, image to sell, etc but rather Independent to have full control /capacity for to output and deliver quality that All can enjoy and are the Genuine Real Deal …

Again, this is my 2 cents worth perspective of thoughts … 🤘🏻🤘🏻

As I’ve previously stated before on another similar topic…Music Power is an individual preference thing… Certain Genres affect/attract intuitively/ immediately or not at all , also culturalism has a hand in this too… I grew up in a house of country music/southern rock/pop/rock/blues/Irish/bluegrass/gospelbigband/disco/music from 1920s-80s …, No one in my immediate family are into classical music that I’m aware of, myself included…

I enjoy music that I can sing/dance/lyricwise sense/feel for… Classical music doesn’t do that for me, I just can’t appreciate it…it doesn’t do anything for me like the other genres do…I need the stimulating effects of old school genres I mention…I need to enjoy /embrace to dance/sing/ the lyrics, have it emotionally move me, etc…

On same note…the rap/hip-hop/ some instrumental ( classical for most part ) hard/heavy metal rock,/punk/alternative , basically today’s type of music being offered on radio, etc with exception of a few I do enjoy …rare but can tolerate …

Also my hearing issues also play a part in why certain music genres , I can’t tolerate/hate …

Just my thoughts of 2 cents here ..

Again to reiterate from my perspective … To Me…it boils down to individual preferences…what/how whatever genres of music impacts/has effect upon, instant like or not …. 🤘🏻☮️

I’m not really a Camper fan… my idea is either a RV fully functional…maybe do a wknd/daytrip …a cabin with Indoor Plumbing, amenities, lol… and sane idea for cabin stay.. a day or a wknd thing… not fond of water, beaches, I prefer land…Meadows, valleys, …lol… in essence…just not a full blown outdoor lover of dots…have outdoor allergies too … hate outhouses with a passion…

Though in the past did grow up going to cottages on a river that both set of grandparents had, spent day and/or a week at each over the years we had the cottages in family, before being sold….did stay at relatives’ cabins for a week / wknd a few times… stayed a wknd at a cottage of a family friend , hunting camp at a friend friend’s of Dad’s ..( did not like that experience at hunting camp at all…it was still winterish –early Spring & had to eat moosemeat- 🤢🤮 )…Thank God there was Bacon/Steak/Hamburger to eat besides the awful Moosemeat — sorry if anyone likes it but it was disgusting to me … I’ve had Venison once…it was better tasting …

    And I hate boats…Seasickness extreme & gives me anxiety/panic attacks …

So to sum it up…I can just enjoy country/land stuff for short term in terms of ” camping ” …but do enjoy strolls in countryside walking …. just not a water person…Landlubber is more my style….. 😉🙃

Hi there David …I also mentioned in my reply about how Team MLT could possibly cover Gordon’s songs… we must be all on same thinking wavelength here …. I grew up listening to Gordon ‘s stuff on radio, watched/heard him on TV as well …. Definitely a Canadian Iconic Legend …. He was so proud to be Canadian, and he will be missed but gifted us all with a wonderful Music Legacy, that is timeless, poignant, profound …🇨🇦🍁🤘🏻

Interesting point Jung, I didn’t know Einstein was an accomplished violinist , as the focus was primarily on him being a scientist, etc …but it does make sense …. Reminds me of Jack Benny…I always thought in watching re-runs of his TV shows that the violinist on going gag was just that, a gag for the show…. but in fact , he could really play violin …

I’m not an opera music fan at all ….just doesn’t do anything for me…lol
