Can’t recall much of weather during childhood in the 70s …. but I do a time or two, it ended up as Stay Home From School because snow or if at school…we just had fun in class …. but what I do recall vivid is Ice Storm 1998 …. that was a Humdinger …. couldn’t leave house for a few days …

Ottawa, Canada, hence been monikered as , and truly bestowed that moniker of…..either ” The Snow-iest city in the world or in Canada ” … we finally got our first true winter storm blast last wknd, having 25 cm dumped upon , and at least 2 people in surrounding area died of heart attacks, shoveling…. Though I’m Canadian, I truly do NOT like Winter at all …. Only for Xmas day, and of the scenic beauty it provides, not the actual cold, snow accumulation do I like, nope…. After Xmas, I’d Embrace Summer season , but no humidity…lol… Yes,I’m a late Spring- and a Summer Fan Kinda Gal, bring on warm days, with flowers, slightly cool-warm refreshing breezes…… Ahhhhhhhh… ๐โจ๏ธ๐กโ๏ธ๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐น๐ธโ๐ท๐บ๐ผ๐

Thankyou, Jung, for your Kindred sentiment here, I do my best to Uplift, Inspire through/by words, drawings, etc, whatever creativity form, inspires me to best Eminate and Embrace All that are Blessed and Bestow Upon what I creatively convey to reach out and touch/move people , that’s a Gift I’m Happy to be Thankful and Being Blessed With … and that makes me Happy, to know I’ve made a difference, for the good ( although, once in awhile my creativity can take on a sombre tone, because at the time whatever invoked the creativeness, I had to have that inspiration of creativity outlet to express, cope best with whatever I was feeling, to free it from my mind but yet, allow others to find their interpretation take from it … ๐คโฎ๐๐

Good posting there re: poetry
As far back as I can recall, Poetry always fascinated me, and I came naturally by it…. I would take cards, print out to copy some of the poetry , then add my own or just do up my own, etc …. in my childhood m, one if my late aunts, I think, gave me on 2 separate times either fir Xmas or my birthday 2 poetry books, that I still have …. by A.A. Milne : ” When We Were Young ” and the other ” Now We Are Six ” … ( My apologies , if I’ve typed wrong book titles, it’s been so long ago ) and High School , I had same English Class teacher for both Grades 10/12 and she taught poetry stuff, I was in my glory/element, and had said, perhaps one day, I should publish and/or will be published, she was correct on that, I’ve had a few things published in publications, and niw I also recall, either in my first year of Grade 7 or the repeat of it the 2nd time, or in Grade 8, tge Englush class teacher , we dud a poem thing , of when we to memorize a poem… the only part I can kinda can still recall is : ” Along the line of smoky hills, the crimson forest stands… etc “
Also, on 2 occasions , I was asked to read a poem at a funeral for one my Aunts and for a famiky friend ‘s Celebration of Life, wrote a poem too for Dad’s funeral service but the minister had to read it on my behalf as I was in no shape to do do…I wrote Mom a poem, had it put with her along with a few family photos when she passed.
I also gifted Mona & Lisa with a couple of MLT poetry booklets I created and you can find the photo of them each posing with booklets in the photo archives on here in either 2014 or 2016 under the ” This and Tha” I think it’s where tge photo us located ….
Yes, poetry is a unique thing of its own, interpretive or not, a river of words or a soup , not everyone can easily grasp or write it, but fir me, it just comes naturally …
One of the best ever High profile compliments, I received , regarding my poetry was from the Kate Earl Hamner Jr ( of Waltons/Twilight Zone TV shows fame ), when I had posted poetry on a now defunct Waltons forum, both he and his siblings, enjoyed what I had posted, I emailed Earl to get his mailing address to send him a mini booklet of my poems, he loved them , said I had a gift to write poetry, coming from a seasoned writer, that spoke volumes to me and gifted me with 2 personally autographed 8x10s of one being a cast photo , just his autograph but dedicated to me and the other was a personal private photo of him out in a boat on a lake fishing . And the last poem I sent him by email, before passed was a birthday one, and he replied back in a short email reply, saying something to the effect when he goes to Heaven, he was going to take my poem in memory … or something along that line …. I was in Awe …Believe me ….
Yes, when Creativity Conveys and Interprets Meaning to someone that it’s meaningful fir/to them but doesn’t necessarily have to be implied /grasped at what perhaps it’s it’s intended meaning but open for all to take as what matters individualistic to whomever reads it …. a painting if you will, in word format …๐๐

Lol…I’m lije David doing my own versions to songs …only I tend to just conjure up the parodies aspects, while I’m singing song, instead of also writing down what I sung.,..lol… I’ve done with some Glass Tiger songs , eons ago, one weekend when another friend who was a GT fan came over for wknd, I taped the songs on cassette tape, while I conjured on the spot, my friend was laughing so hard got an asthma attack, I peed my pants from laughing after I played back tge tape and somewheres , I think I still gave that cassette tape, and I’ve done a couple of spontaneous MLT ones while listening to them, and ” Sweet Lorraine ” was one of tge songs but I never wrote down what I sung, nor recorded it either…. perhaps David and I could collaborate a duet of parody duetting …. How about It David !? ……lol….I’d have to record myself singing then you could write down what I sung sobtgete’s a paper trail of it….lol…. I can’t multi-task well…. just better off to focus on one thing…, lol

Well Jung, I’m kind of familiar with Thomas Kincade , and you’ve made my day with this “Lilac Cottage ” masterpiece, being the Purple Enthusiast that I am….lol ๐๐๐๐๐๐ค but in reply, it’s kind of similar approach perspective as to my music take, certain artworks either jump right out at me, immediately involking– reactions of whatever comes out emotional wise, appeals to me outright visually, as I’m a visual person to begin with ….. Andy Warhol certainly spoke volumes with his stuff, and there are others, but you know what is funny , I have yet to go visit tge National Art Gallery downtown Ottawa…. perhaps that big ol Spider sculpture outside of Gallery is partly the reason, and as I’m not much into works of art , lol, , moreso into poetry, music, creativity….. however, I may sonetime get my nerve, go past that Spider Sculpture, and actually go visit the National Art Gallery, in Spring or Summer , when I’m in the area ….๐ผ๐จ๐๐

Member03/01/2024 at 17:17 in reply to: Every Popular Song Sounds The Same, and here is whySadly, this is the truth, slowly becoming more and more mundane, as being in my mid 50s, I ‘m truly appreciative of the diversity in the music landscape of pre -2000 when music was diverse, things didn’t sound exactly/similar, focus wasn’t quite on the vanity of an artist outright but rather intertwined, you could recognize who was singing, and know their looks, lol…but it was their vocals, music genre that was the definitive…. also perhaps, it could also relate to the generations below us, with exception of MLT, some others who respect moreso the music aspect essence moreso than trying to vanities their looks in conjunction with music , etc as the record labels they’re with demands/expects from signed artists, etc. , as I was saying the generations below us, were born into tge time of thus music shift and perhaps their parent’s music taste influences at home, plays a role as to what music influences their children will be instilled with, etc…
As I stated in/ on the other thread, ” Absolutely The Best of the Best ” is what I think, and thus why , I’m only liking a rare few in today’s music landscape, as unfortunately , the unique days of once was in music scene has become lost in greed , etc … am Thankful MLT, and others who are like – minded are making sincere efforts to resurrect and restore true musicship-once more….
Again, this is my personal opinion on this, you may respectfully/diplomatically agree/disagree ….โฎ๐ค

Likewise , with tge majority here Advent Calendar ends, and ya get missing tge routine, but Thankful it’s kept here all year round to rewatch … I’m definitely not a fan of winter, I hate it, only like it for on Xmas Day, I’m a Summer gal, but prefer no humidity , and enjoy late Spring , I think I suffer too from that Seasonal Disorder thing, and I’m always down in spirits somewhat during Winter and ever since my late Dad passed on my birthday in January 2011, it depresses me a little more at this time of year ….

I’m thoroughly enjoying this thread, even with the differing of opinions , respectfully/diplomatically stated , and even introducing new things to be learned and be open-minded to checkout , Ottawa has a lovely Oscar Peterson sculpture that’s embedded into a wall on outside at the NAC , and I’ve taken a few Selfies with Oscar over the years… Her Majesty , The Queen along with Prince Phillip unveiled the statue-sculpture which I believe now was to be their last Canada visit. I was in tge crowd that day …. Another local gal that sings jazz really well, and soul is Gin Bourgeois ( LeMeow Band )…as I’ve said, if the music has an immediate impact on/to/for me , that is what matters to me most … the lyrics, Instrumentation, etc …
On a funny side note, I saw this document on YT, where Bob Dylan’s son was interviewed, and in my own opinion, he can sing better than his Dad, and I can actually handle/tolerate the vocals , without getting physically irritated, anxious, etc , unlike I do with ol man Bob ….lol…. it’s bad when a person ‘s vocals for me, cause me grief physically like Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson thus deeming me to not able to listen to their music but ignore, walk away, shut off so I don’t hear /be aggravated, etc.. I don’t enjoy those feelings.

My fave local hometown area fiddle player/stepdancer that I’ve met & watch her grow up since was around 11-13 , April Verch …. she has toured the world, fiddled with some unknown greats/legends in the fiddle world and many years back, also teaches fiddle , began to also songwrite & sing on her more recent stuff over last while, she is wonderful, and her hubby plays banjo and songs just as good …..he’s from the USA . …๐ค๐ป๐ผ๐ต๐ถ๐๐ป๐ช

Hi Bud.. I see you have quoted my trademark MLT catchphrase that I created/coined eons ago… “MLTBUZZLUVGROOVIFIED ” …lol… I’m glad you like it, to use/borrow it….lol..

Okay, here goes my 2 cents worth, now in advance, these are my own personal perspectives-opions of reflection on this and you may Respectfully /Diplomatically Agree/Disagree with what I’m going to say ….
In my life, Music has always been like a poem for/to ne, having grown up in the 70s/80s in particular, I always enjoyed listening to the radio, albums/8 tracks/cassette tapes in our home with whatever influences in music tastes of which my parents, 2 older brothers had and subsequently that I was immediately drawn to or not, sort of …. For the music aspects, of instrumentation, lyrics, vibe , emotional connection, sing along worthy, dance to worthy , etc, if it moves me poetically in those departments …
With that being said, the main music influences and/or genres that I’m drawn to are country, blues, gospel, 20s to 80s stuff …
What I’m clearly NOT keen on is Classical/Rap/Hip-hop [( Rap-HipHop because of the negative connection with Gangster stuff notions, etc, negative lyrics, etc, the whole notion , just a right turn off for me ) Classical, because for me because of no lyrics, the instrumentation , I find it boring , not positive or uplifting for/to me , it just doesn’t cut it for me, I cannot associate myself with it to get anything from it, I know Beethoven, etc were gifted, I agree with that aspect, but it’s the music itself, I don’t and will never feel connection with/for/to it, like I do & can with other genres, that’s the way it is for those 2 genres in particular ….
Now with Heavy Metal, Punk, Alternative, though not overly keen, I can somewhat tolerate to a point with those genres, depending on singing, instrumentation setup, etc.
Also, must note Neil Young’s vocals, just irritates , and anyone else that has similar pitch as he does, truly is intolerable for me, female singer or male, its their pitch, nasal or whatever it is in particular with them that I absolutely cannot listen, it’s that awful for my liking, perhaps also, my hearing issues could be a contributing factor, as I never was keen on Neil or Willie Nelson’s singing growing up , still don’t…
Fast forward to today’s music landscape… while there are some gifted ones out there in whatever genre, and a rare few that I can listen to their music of, I’m in agreement, the bulk of that is from three conglamoracy of record labels manufacturing their ideals of their signed artists to confirm to both vanity/monetary and perhaps age demographic notions to target of/with …
MLT Unequivocally is Unique because of the gift they have, to create intergenerational appealing music, while maintaining both a reminiscent yet modern vibe , without being dolled up, , going all out just to get noticed, etc, they are grounded, not at all going crazy, full of themselves because of big money/fame , etc that all comes with being with record label , etc .
Which is key to why I was immediately drawn to/taken with their interpretation of ” California Dreamin ” when I discovered them with that song on YouTube 16 years ago, it struck an immediate connection music chord with me of them .
Actually, Dusty Springfield once mentioned in an interview about how the music industry changed once the vanity aspect, crossed paths over into music aspect, and to me, she was correct in that prediction/thought …
In Essence , summary, for me, the Music has to uplift me, emotionally, make me want to sing along, dance, toe tap, etc … just reach out and move me in a poetical form, and to which I can resonate and Eminate positively from and /or touches me to the core …
No matter the genre for more part with for the exceptional, I mentioned above that don’t me no justice, no matter who tries to convince me otherwise, etc, those 2 genres, sadly, just won’t ever do for me, but I do be in awe for the creation of the genre, just not in the presentation for me to get anything from them …. ๐คโฎ๐ผ๐ต๐ถ๐๐ป๐ง
