Hi Jung,
After watching the latest project, I reminded myself this is team of four. On the second viewing I realized how many shots were needed to create this and again, this is a team of four from start to finish. I wonder if this was ever said, “Okay, that was good, Mona but now move up one step and about 3cm to your left and do it again. No, your left.”
Their ability to turn out these high quality productions is a testament to their “When We’re Together“ work ethic. They always look so relaxed in the studio as if they are just goofing around, as opposed to other tortured artists pulling their hair out trying to get it right.
The pallet garden video is a good example of this, as we get a glimpse at the source of these ethics. As you can see, good parenting goes a long way. They all share the ability to critique each other in a very endearing manner. “That one looks like a whale that is about to explode.” Sharing a similar sense of humor can make constructive criticism a little easier to take.
One thing I like about their behind the scenes videos is that it we get to see a lot of MacGyvering to achieve an effect. “Nothing Is In Vain” is a good example. How do we make it look like Lisa and Mona are floating through space with a huge fish, hmmm? Let’s have Dad put on scuba gear and film us swirling our hair underwater. What would an exploding lightbulb sound like in reverse? Their imaginations show no bounds.
And sharing a similar sense of humor can be helpful when thinking out loud, “Just staple the crap out of it, Okay?”

Jung, Orange is a brand name of amplifiers, and they are just the right shade of Orange
Jeff, you re right about our cat, Tex. He is a pretty kool cat. That skiing photo was practically an accident. I was just taking a selfie. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the reflection element.
Walter, if you want to see a good demo of a Nitefly, look for videos of Adrian Belew. He is of King Crimson fame. I think he is now an official spokesperson for them.

Hi Marc,
Sounds like a great weekend. These songs are incredible. They have a real classic sound that we’ll be listening to forever.

I love hearing everyone talk about their gear.
Walter, this reminds me of a scene from Big Bang Theory – Sheldon: “Now what kind of computer do you have, and if you say a white one, I’ll slap you”
My electric is a Parker. It’s not a Nitefly, but similar. I think it’s a P-38. It has very low miles and is in showroom condition. It has a kool stereo pickup. I had to get a Y cable adapter which enables you to plug into two amps simultaneously. Oh and it’s a Parker. I really don’t get a chance to play it much lately. I usually just pick up my acoustic. It’s a Takamine. I wanna say it’s black? EF341-SC. It has a nice built in pickup with an EQ. It has really nice action for an acoustic. I always had cheap guitars when I was younger, so these feel like the real thing to me.
My go to amp is a Roland that is just a basic 40 watt amp. It has a preamp out. I also have this old Peavey amp I got when I was sixteen. I think it is 65 watts with two 12” speakers. It was pretty kick ass in 1980. But it’s time for a grown-up amp.
As far as playing out, that would be on my front porch. Although, I will pick up a gig in the back yard some nights to escape the roar of the peepers.
Thanks for all your tips on the Orange amps. A boy can dream.

Hi John,
When We’re Together is not just a great debut album, but a great album altogether. From catchy numbers like the title track, June, Won’t You Listen Now to a little psychycadelia with Dreams and Nothing Is In Vain. Lisa really puts some soul into nothing, nothing, nothing

Here is the isolated orchestra track from “Comfortably Numb”
The guy in the middle is Michael Kamen. He was kinda the Mozart of rock in the eighties and nineties. He worked with a lot of big names and scored a bunch of movie soundtracks.

Thanks for the reminder for August star gazing. When we were kids my brother and sisters would sleep on our back deck in August so we could watch for shooting stars. Well, not every night. I can remember a couple of nights when they were pretty frequent. I think most nights we fell asleep after seeing the first few.
I think I will go out into the night and have a look. “Sounds of Silence” will definitely be on my playlist. That reminds me, I have a Simon & Garfunkel greatest hits on my phone. The original “Sounds of Silence” came on the other day and my first thought was MLT do this song much better. ????
“Vincent” is appropriate for tonight’s viewing. Starry, starry night…
