Jung, I’m sorry I did not answer all of your questions. That Who show was very loud, but still awesome. No, I don’t remember Pete smashing his guitar at the end. I have seen clips of that nonsense, but I think at that point he may have out grown that behavior.
Growing up I saw a lot of concerts at that place. The acoustics were terrible, but we were young. I don’t think they host any concerts there nowadays.

Does your discman take batteries? Just think, you can listen to the Duo Sessions on your way to the store for more batteries, as you will probably be pressing replay a lot.
Autograph looks awesome.

Jung, at the bridge and near the end the strumming seems so familiar I subconsciously want to scream,”Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve played the silver ball”. I love how MLT pays so much attention to the smallest of details. Every listen to Orange peels back another layer to reveal another super groovy detail.
Thursday goes too slow
I’ve got Friday on my mindJP

I think my cat got my sticker. It was funny when I opened the box, both of my cats were ready to dive in. They are quick, so I will have to check out their favorite hiding spots.I had also ordered an orange coffee cup. My wife was watching as I held the cup up with a huge smile. Then I was looking at the CD and she noticed my smile was fading. She asked if everything was okay. “‘I thought they were going to autograph this…”. She prodded me to look a little closer.
I looked at Both Sides Now, Oh happy day. It was signed with a gray/silver ink that blended right in with the album cover. Nice one ladies. I can see clearly now, I’ve got my glasses on. Is that a smile under Mona’s signature?

I love this one. 1965 (me2)
Do I hear a tip of the hat to the Pinball Wizard? I hear it on The Who’s version of the kids, but it sounds a little more windmill-ish here. I am not a big who scholar. Does anyone know if that guitar strum was borrowed from the kids and used in pinball wizard ? Tommy was released 1969, so it would make sense. I know that is Pete’s signature strum, but the first time I heard the Duo Session I thought of Tommy.
Flashback: June 1989 I get a call from my dad to say he just heard tickets go on sale in 20 minutes for The Who at the Glens Falls Civic Center. It was basically a rehearsal show for another one of their farewell tours. They kept it a secret up until the last minute, no internet back then. The arena was a 4,000 seat hockey arena with terrible acoustics. We we’re young, it was The Who …in our tiny town
So it was a 5 minute walk to the ticket window, and it was only about a 20 minute wait for 10th row floor. Limit 4 seats per person. And then count the days till showtime.
I remember it was loud, and I remember getting excited when they played Pete’s song “Give Blood”. They played most of their hits. I was just looking over the set list and I don’t remember it being that long of a show. Like I said, we were young, it was The Who
There’s a Duo video for The Kids Are Alright?
One of these Fridays, right?

So today was a workday. Both Sides Now on both legs of my commute, wait, that’s a little bit of a stretch. I did listen to Imagine and Count On Me, and…Traffic and Weather.
That harmonica just fades in and out so seamlessly it snuck up on me a couple of times and whispered,”Big boys don’t cry, big boys don’t cry” Nice one, Mona.
Those angel like harmonies have the same affect on me. They have such a gentle approach,”To say I love you right out loud.” That’s the line that really gets me. Yes, the lyrics to this are very emotional, but the melody itself has a very powerful affect on me. This is definitely one of those songs.
The mix on this piece is right on, and did I mention those beautiful voices?
The Wagner Family has so much to be proud of, with this one near the top of the list. The whole CD came out very well. The song list flows along like gentle ride. No flowing tears, but I did miss two turns on the way home. Clouds got in my way.
Ok, I’ll try to stop gushing over this, but did I mention how beautiful Lisa and Mona’s voices are?

I’m kinda new here and I have to say that the MLT Club has so many kool people here that I felt welcome right away. Everyone is here for the love of great music. There are a few musicians here and there, too. We all know musicians are the koolest people.
There is a treasure hidden around every corner of this site. I am still finding new old stuff. Have you seen “She’s Leaving Home”? The ladies really shine on this one.

I love that play on words. It always sounds like we are talking about both sides of the album. If only, right?

Who wants to go for a ride?

Pumpkin has noticed a new arrival. I think she wants me to open it, so she can play with the box. The anticipation is killing me, I hope it lasts.

I agree, Jung, a whole new level. I am not really familiar with this song. I know it more as background music. This new version moves it to the top of my playlist. The girls‘ super clear singing sets the mood for this song, and breathes a new life Into it. I got a little misty with the first spin. It is perfect. I love the way the guitars just wrap around your ears and carry the lyrics. Oh wait, that’s true with every Duo Session. I can’t pick a favorite. Yes, I can.
The quality of theses recordings is superb, to say the least. The mix and the overall sound is better than CD’s I purchased from big label’s . I have purchased CD’s from “big label” artists before, only to find the sound quality to be flawed with over the top bass, or some other out-of-proportion sound anomaly. These discs currently reside in the black hole of my house where most other forever lost items go.
So a nice round of applause for the recording team. Bravo!
This new CD already has a reserved place in the rack for it. I feel like I am waiting for the Stork to bring this new CD home. Well now, the rack is for the case. The disc will obviously find a long-standing residence in my CD player.
Thanks so much to MLT for streaming this in the Jukebox. This site has a lot to offer. The IT team would be commended. They do a fine job keeping everything together.
I love knowing there is more new stuff around the corner, and look forward to its rollout. MLT has such clever marketing practices. I like the element of surprise on Fridays.
All is groovy here, now let me go see if those earbuds are done charging…One More Time

The neighbors will probably be hearing it soon, also. 😉

Thanks Jung Ro. That’s what I’m talking about. Very kool.
I love the emotional power music can have on you. Just the idea that a few notes played at a certain tempo can immediately lift you into waves of emotion. I can still remember seeing Amadeus when I was nineteen-ish and it struck me how beautiful it was that one man composed music for every instrument and he could pretty much hear it in his head as he created it. If you ever see me smiling during a symphony, that is probably what I am thinking about. One guy wrote all of this a long long time ago.
It’s so nice to see younger people like MLT enjoying this music. I hope that this music will be studied and played for generations to come.

I love all the comments from everyone. Yes, Jacki, emotional.
There are a lot of musicians posting here, which is really no surprise – birds of a feather.
I have been reading some posts about how certain scales can bring so much emotion to a song. This explains why I get so misty when I listen to classical music. Oh, and it happens more when I can see the musicians.
I remember watching a Beatles documentary and the host was showing how each chord change in “She’s leaving home” was a perfect match to the lyrical mood. Fascinating how that works.
Watching MLT perform perform “She’s Leaving” is jaw dropping awesome.Count On Me is my favorite Orange song today
