Yes, I like to think I have a wild audience. Thanks Phil. I had to look up what a DAW is. I did get a looper pedal a while ago, but I have only tried it a couple of times. I’ve been in rut lately with my playing. Sometimes life gets in the way, but last night reminded me it’s like riding a bike.

If anyone ever considered getting a hummingbird feeder, do it. We started putting a couple out five years ago. For the first couple of years we would just see a few. The last couple of years we usually see six or seven at a time, but it seems constant. Their chirping, which sounds similar to dolphins, has become like white noise to us. The cats pay little attention to them. It seems like they are just used to the noise. It’s pretty kool watching the hummingbirds up close. Last year one showed up early and just hovered in front of our window for a bit. It was very surreal. I felt like I was going to get in trouble if I didn’t put a feeder out right away, which I did immediately. I saw a documentary where the researchers tagged some hummingbirds to prove the same birds returned to the same feeders each year. It’s pretty amazing considering the distance they migrate from. Uh-oh! I just heard that little voice in my head,”If you spent as much time practicing guitar as you do obsessing over those birds,…and while you’re at it, can we get a little more cow bell. We can always use more cowbell?” and that dang looper pedal is mocking me

    Have a great weekend everybody,

Hi Bob, welcome. You’re never late here, well except maybe for the Christmas Live Stream. It’s best to show up early for that. Those are fun. You can watch the replay to see what I am talking about. I was going to post a link, but half the fun of looking for something here is finding everything else. I always like to recommend the sky diving video. It has a pretty kool soundtrack, too. If you look out and about, you will most likely stumble upon it.

I’ve always liked I’m Not In Love. You reminded me of a documentary I saw a while ago. It’s really amazing what lengths they went to for that backing vocal. I love seeing how things were accomplished back in the day with old school analog compared to how it’s done now with a couple of clicks. And there are some fun facts at the end.

    Hi Juergen.

Thank for posting Photograph. I’ve never seen that before. Now I see where Mona’s smiley tambourine came from for Lola. Those are some great pictures.

While I am here I want to suggest a listen for you. A group called The Buddha Lounge Ensemble

I don’t know if you are familiar with Pink Floyd’s Animals, but if you are you might enjoy this version. It’s a little bit techno with some sampling thrown in. A couple of tracks have female vocalists which is quite nice. They do take the tracks in a little different direction, but it still carries all of the ambiance of the original. I have a bunch of these oddities that I have collected over the years and have since forgotten about. This one popped up on my phone the other day while I was mowing the lawn. I put my phone on shuffle sometimes to see what kind of deep tracks appear.

If you are very familiar with the original album, it can be fun comparing their differences. Here is Dogs from this album. It is a little slower, and easier to understand the lyrics. I am trying to find a full streaming version. I actually have the CD.

  • Thanks for checking in, Jax. Glad to hear all is well. We just got a bunch of thunderstorms here. I didn’t get a chance to watch the storms this time, but I recommend for those that have an opportunity to watch the storms to play The Sounds of Silence Duo Session turned up to eleven. You are likely to see lightning strike in perfect time with the music. It can be breathtaking to say the least.

Didn’t they say it started with five syllables to go along with these five notes? Genius

    Hi Chris,

I love Nothing Is In Vain. Have you watched the making of video for this? It’s amazes me that they did all of that in their grandparent’s backyard, thus proving nothing is in vain. Every new video surprises me. I think we all have ideas for each song’s video. Their writing can create such vivid imagery, that one can’t help but imagine what the video will be like. Rest assured we will be amazed.

I kinda thought Songbird would be a nice accompaniment for an animated video. I love that they went to such high altitudes to film their vision. Did you see the BTS for Songbird? Michaela commented that she felt like she was on top of the world listening to Lisa and Mona sing. It’s so generous of them to share these moments with us.

Good morning. I am enjoying this thread as a one-percenter. You’re all displaying one of the reasons why? we are here. I was trying to come up with a Star Wars analogy, but I am only on my first cup. Something like those from the Blue Side must come over to the Orange Side, but that may create a disturbance in the force. Like I said, I’m on my first cup and this really isn’t coming off like my caffeine free mind first envisioned it.

It’s great how we all feel so comfortable here, and on Jacki’s page, to come celebrate music and express our opinions without the fear of being criticized. The absence of negativity here is quite endearing, along with the unending support of fellow club members. Whether it be the joy of alternate musicians, discovery, loss, excitement, or perhaps just a bad day, it is great how we all rally together to lighten the mood, or share opinions.

The fact that MLT is preoccupied with producing new videos is quite exciting. They really seem to raise the bar with each new project. I can only imagine what they will do next. Their videos are the best I have seen. We get this eighties video channel on our TV that is a great source for background noise. It’s funny how terrible most of those videos seem now. A lot of the popular artists were incredibly cheesy. To alleviate that I switch over here and play any MLT video. They look so kool on our big screen and sound fantastic.

So, which song do you think will be accompany the next video? Where will it be filmed? Didn’t they mention an upcoming trip? Ok, I think the coffee is kicking in. Will Joe reach his destination in the summer rain? It is questionable whether that pretty little thing will jump ship to make show. If only he could raise his head like any other day and ask the paid for politicians why?(did I leave any out)

That is Nick Mason’s only vocal. Hmm…put in your earbuds and listen to Roger Waters Pro’s and Con’s of Hitchhiking featuring Eric Clapton. It was recorded with an early form of surround sound. Just speaking from memory, I think the surround effect only worked on vinyl? There’s another rabbit hole. The album is awesome. Earbuds recommended and listen with the lyrics in front of you. It is definitely a concept album with a beginning, middle and end. A dream within a dream within a dream…Clayton’s playing on this is pretty hot. I think you will like the music, and the story it tells.

Brig smiles. I am glad you liked Animals. The original is by far the best. When you mentioned you want to add to your collection I immediately thought of Meddle. And now you mention AHM. I love it and listen to it often. Like you, as a teenager I would see it as we fanned through the racks of albums and wonder if it held any treasures. Later in my twenties I had money to expand my collection and started by everything Floyd. Upon first listen of AHM, it was like huh?

Side A is mostly instrumental with a choir. By the way there are plenty of stories that go along with the making of this. Dive down every worm hole. Ron Geesin played a big part in this. Side B has some beautiful acoustic pieces with great lyrics. Yes, get it. Side A is great for drives, or just background music. Side B might surprise you. There are some great songs there. Summer’68 has some great phrasing.

Would you like to say something before you leave?

Perhaps you’d care to state exactly how you feel
We said goodbye before we said hello

I hardly even like you, I shouldn’t care at all
We met just six hours ago, the music was too loud
From your bed I gained a day and lost a bloody year
And I would like to know

How do you feel, how do you feel?
How do you feel, how do you feel?

Fun fact: Meddle is the only album featuring Nick Mason’s vocal on One of These Days.

Hmmm….I was going to share a live version of this, but I like the album version better.
