Jacki, I haven’t been to the library in quite some time, but it’s so awesome you can borrow musical instruments now. Borrowing a Uke or guitar (if they have them) sounds appealing just for the fun of playing around with one. Regarding your Uke playing, I think with practice you will only get better, so keep at it I say.

Hi Roger, you said you wanted to see more people post pictures of their instruments and maybe even videos of them playing. Well for fun and to start it off, and maybe not exactly that, but for everyone’s enjoyment here are a few nice shiny guitars in action: A 1964 Rickenbacker 325, a 1963 Gretsch Tenessean, and a 1962 Hofner Violin hollow-body Bass, and last but not least a Ludwig 22-inch-bass 4-piece drum kit.
The 4 young lads look awfully popular playing them. 🙂

How could I not mention “Still a Friend of Mine” Mike. The hauntingly beautiful classical piano intro just sets the mood of the entire song.

Jacki. Here is another interesting list of songs from a top 20 guitar intros of all time I came across. Rounding up the top 4 from the list.
4..Norwegian Woods, Beatles
3..Angie, Rollings Stones
2..Hotel California, Eagles. Also performed by MLT.
1..Stair Way To Heaven, Led Zeppelin

Lisa, I did a little home work on your guitar to figure out why it is partly hollow:
“The Duo Jet debuted in 1953 as Gretsch’s flagship “solid body” guitar, and its signature power and punch came from its chambered mahogany design, which magnifies harmonic richness by letting air resonate between the top and body for livelier and more articulate tone.”
How cool! I see why it’s your favorite electric guitar.

I agree David, that harmonica intro lead in on “I should have known Better” is awesome, and is a continuous theme throughout the song. Beatles use a lot of harmonica in their early songs didn’t they. I’m so glad Mona is a pro with the harmonica. Love it when she does the harmonica on some of the covers. George Harrison provided the intro to “And I Love Her”, and Paul McCartney says without that intro guitar riff, the song would be nothing. Pretty big validation about the significance of the unique Intro in the Beatles songs. I think the same could be said of “I want to Hold Your Hand”. That great Intro guitar riff launches that song into the stratosphere and it doesn’t come down after that. The same with Ticket To Ride, Day Tripper, etc..

I’ll echo holy moly too! For someone here wanting to expand their guitar horizons or just get into it, so many here mentioned to aspire to, especially because that’s what Mona and Lisa used to create such beautiful music over the years. I’m proud to say at least I knew the Gretsch Duo Jet is Lisa’s fave electric.

Thanks Roger. Mona and Lisa mentioned they loved horses, so it was the inspiration for the theme in the poem, and of course Jacki too. A 70s Mach 1, nice! Those were still awesome muscle cars before the demise later in the 70s.
Thank you for your service Roger and keeping us all safe!

This question reminds me of my window shopping experience a few years ago in LasVegas. It was 40 degrees C outside and I found a few fountain pen shops scattered around the strip and the adventure that followed just so I could indulge a few moments in my passion was quite memorable. I love candy store window shopping too Lisa.

It always fascinates me the amount of leg work and creative ingenuity that is required that go into to creating a perfect scene in a video. Sometimes the scene can be short but when you see what was involved to create it, you can truly appreciate it. Thanks Lisa for the awesome detailed explanation, and great question Rick.

Mona and Lisa’s guitars (Rickenbacker 350v63 and Gretsch Duo Jet)
Jim, Mona’s Rickenbacker 350 v63 pictured here looks a lot like John Lennon’s 325 you posted. Do you know what is the difference between the two? Mona’s described her’s as a regular length Long Scale guitar “with the same toaster pickups, wood, controls etc as Lennon’s legendary 325.” Is the difference in the length?

Niiice Uke Roger, and I can see the other wonderful little fella in the background too! I say a happy household over there this weekend! “A booming sounds”? Yes I can just imagine, as I was just watching Lisa making such beautiful sounds in “She’s Leaving Home” with another Lanikai Concert Uke just like yours!

David, you are right. The intro to Ticket to Ride and You Can’t do That are quite familiar but in a different key. They sound similar, but feel different. I don’t know how else to explain it.
In Sargent Peppers, so many of the intro’s are just fantastic. Like A Day In the Life, Sargent Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, Lovely Rita (I mentioned before), Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds, She’s Leaving Home, When I’m 64…the list goes on.

Roger, congrats on your new Ukelele acquistion. Can’t wait to see it! Just for a little more Uke indulgence here, I couldn’t resist posting a quick access to Lisa, Ukelele Queen, doing her thing on the Uke.
