Hi Lisa!
What a wonderful way to end my vacation and return to such a thoughtful and insightful response to my question about your Uke!
Coming back from a week long Alaska cruise and a few beautiful days of bliss at sea, I started to feel a little blue and down as we began to approach Vancouver and I realized my little holiday was ending and it will be back to reality again very soon, but reading what you wrote here just cheered me right up and I forgot all that! Thank you! Also, thanks for the two videos. I didn’t know George Harrison was such a big fan of the Ukelele, and that remembrance concert for George with Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton starting “Something” off with the Ukelele was so touching.
What you said about the Ukelele that it can transform a song and give it a brighter and happier feel makes a lot of sense to me. How you transformed “God Only Knows” is a great example of that, not only because of your wonderful use of the Ukelele, but yours and Mona’s singing/harmonies, and creative musical arrangement and style too.

“I Don’t Know Birds That Well” is also another example of a cheery mood added with a Ukelele, and I love the scene in that video with you on the Uke, and Mona on the guitar, singing/playing and wandering through the beautiful meadows of a spring day. As you explained in detail, I see why the Ukelele is indeed a powerful and versatile instrument. George Harrison and yourself among others being big fans of it, what more validation is there for this great instrument!
Wonderful greetings to you, Mona, Michaela and Rudolph!

Thanks for the pictures Howard. That one by the river with a glass of ale and fountain pen is just perfection. I love sitting down somewhere beautiful with my fountain pen and journal to write my thoughts. I sometimes impress myself with what I end up scribbling on paper. Photography in words.
That pen shop you found sounds like a great place with knowledgeable people to serve you. Those are the best pen shops. By the way, the actual pen Mona has is a classy elegant glossy white one just like the grand piano used in the “Still a Friend of Mine” video. I’m off to Alaska in the morning for a week and will be back online then. Best.

That is awesome Howard! Enjoy in good health, and take advantage of using bottled ink and all the unlimited colors available in the market. I’ve been eyeing the red and yellow Lamy Safari’s whenever I’ve been to a pen shop the last couple years to add to my collection next to my Petrol and Charcoal Lamy’s, but seeing your gorgeous “Lisa” red one, I think it’s pushed me over the edge. I need to get me a Lisa Red and a Mona Yellow pens too. -
Nice Howard! One day those signed CDs and Vinyl are going to be very coveted, just like a signed Beatles Sargent Peppers or Rubber Soul from the 60’s would be.
Would love to see everyone else’s favorite MLT merch in the wild here!

Thanks Jerry. I agree, sometimes you can show them the well, but they have to have an open mind to appreciate what’s in front of them. Fortunately there are many of us and growing who understand just how remarkable MLT original and cover music is.
Jacki good point. To do exactly as the original, what’s the point? John and Paul echo that opinion. I don’t mean just to do a cover differently than the original for the sake of being different, but adding the interpreters creativity to it to do the original justice. I’ve heard some horrible covers done by others, but MLT covers solicit accolades from the original artists like John Sebastian, The Zombies, The Hollies, Steve Harley, and I am sure Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson too when they discover MLT.
For me just as Glenn Gould is widely accepted as the greatest Bach interpeter ever, the MLT are the finest Beatles and 60’s music interpters with their covers. As good as the originals, often eclipsing them, bringing their own artistic interpretation making it special and worth listening to.

The MLT keychain is very nicely made and handy. Goes with me everywhere literally.

Who says a pretty MLT orange pick is for guitars only.
After I’m done learning the piano, I may have to get a guitar too now. Mona and Lisa, look at the effect you are having on me.

Here is my latest MLT merch. The photos don’t do the mug justice, it’s gorgeous with the Twins on it. Always love the extra goodies they send so generously whenever you order anything.

After having the mug around the house for a while, it feels a little incomplete without the passionate red mug, so the BAM 2 mug will be making it’s way soon. Besides, I can’t let Howard have all the fun with all his MLT mugs.

The Duo sessions is one of the best part of the MLT club. The latest “She’s Leaving Home” sends shivers. The singing is just so moving and beautiful, so much feeling expressed in their voices by Mona and Lisa. Had to capture a beautiful moment from that song here.
A Monday morning MLT joy moment

Lisa’s vocal highs are just magnificent as it carries you into the heavenly fluffy clouds, just as it did in Little Drummer Boy.
