To kick it off, here are my 10:
1.San Francisco
2. Time of the Season
3. Aufstehn
4. Paint It Black
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
6. Sweet Lorraine
7. Close To You
8. Still a Friend of Mine
9. Club 27
10. The Wide, Wide, Land
If it was around Christmas time, I would replace Aufstehn with Little Drummer Boy.
My selection would try to highlight the very wide variety in genre in MLT music.

Thats great to hear! As more and more people discover MLT, it will have a cumulative effect of their music spreading more rapidly.

I guess I’m more into the melody. You know, 5 is a nice middle of the road number. ????

The fact you both learn and play all these unconventional instruments yourselves is really impressive Mona. Love hearing reference to a new album and new cover as well. Exciting times are in store. Yay! ????

Well Jacki, for me it would be “Still a Friend of Mine”, because the piano is the only instrument I’ve ever played and that I have some aspiration to be proficient at it one day while I still roam the earth, and it is the only MLT song with a piano in it so far. And it is one supremely beautiful song too.
BTW, hope you are keeping warm there in eastern Canada with that winter storm yesterday. Minus 30 sounds unimaginably cold. I heard they had to cancel a snow festival in Quebec because of too much snow. That sounds like a lot of snow! Maybe send some Howard’s way down under.

Hi Howard. While I would have loved to have asked this question, it was Joe’s question. Really interesting article.
Thanks Lisa for sharing your thoughts about the article so thoroughly, always enjoy them. I think yourself and most of your fans are in agreement about the Beatles being greater as the Fab 4 than the Solo 4. This article misses the mark by elevating Paul as the greater Beatle.
I hope Joe doesn’t mind, but I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents about the Beatles in my limited exposure with them from more of a layman’s perspective on the matter.
I think John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s personalities had the effect of pushing each other up, and when they broke up, they were not as effective as when they were together. Together they were greater than the sum of their individual parts.
Paul was this Mozart like song writing genius who looked up to the cooler, wilder and more mature John Lennon as a mentor/older brother like figure. In an interview I recall Paul describing John this way when they first met as youngsters. John probably helped Paul push his creative boundary beyond what he would ever achieve alone.
John Lennon I think saw a younger possibly technically stronger song writing equal in Paul. When John lashed out at Paul after their break up and called Paul “Musak”, I think it highlighted a sense of resentment and respect for Paul’s talent. I think Paul had the same effect of inspiring John to excel technically beyond what John would have achieved on his own as a song writer. Paul would have set some high benchmarks for John to have to exceed. When they went solo, neither ever rose to the heights they did as the Beatles.
I think Paul’s deep appreciation for John Lennon comes out in an interview where Paul recalls calling John after a long absence after the bands break up, and John is baking bread and they have this wonderful friendly conversation and how happy Paul was to be able to have had that conversation before John was killed.

And Your Bird Can Sing is also a really catchy tune too, I like it. Some of the Beatles lesser known songs like this and Hey Bulldog are real gems.

Howard, Daniel. “And Your Bird Can Sing” has some pretty great guitar riffs. Wouldnt be surprised if MLT already covered it in their many live performances at the Cavern. Perhaps one day we’ll hear this one. I dont think there is anything that Lisa wouldnt be up to a challenge for when it comes to guitar.

Happy Birthday Jacki. Hope you have a great one tomorrow.

That is especially pretty the intense color and pattern of the letters. Like it!

Thanks Richard. Will check out Audacity.

Impressive Tomas. Thanks

Those are some great covers you list Tommy, but then all their covers are great arent they. From the interviews I hear it mentioned Drive My Car is a more difficult Beatles song to cover because of the off beat guitar piece. MLT impress with how well they do this one. Love the singing and Monas harmonica on Please Please Me.

Lisa’s singing on You’re Gonna Lose That Girl is just stellar. That’s an awesome cover and example where MLT musical depth and talent just shine so brilliantly.

Jacki, I’ll be back is a nice one, The Night Before , like Hey Bulldog is one I never heard before. Enjoying that one too.
