Rick, agree.  You can see a glimpse of the ladies singing the childrens choir in ther 2017 recap video.  Would love to hear this on the airwaves everywhere one day too.  Very deserving song of many from the awesome Orange album.

So that cougar’s name was Butch.  Nice to know, thanks for letting me know Bob.  Back in 1967 we might have still been there when you arrived at Washington State University.

Michael, been through Portland and that area a few times.  Always enjoyed going through there on the way to California or the beautiful Oregon coast.  Lots of nice little towns in Oregon.

So I need to make a change to my # 5 on the top 5 MLT videos.

1.. San Francisco was the first MonaLisa Twins video I came across that introduced me to their wonderful music and world.   Their version is just beautiful, and their angelic voices and incredible harmonies add another dimension to this already wonderful song by Scott McKenzie, elevating it to new heights for me.   The video is also shot in many places I’ve been to with my family when visiting San Francisco and brings back a lot of fond memories.

2..The Wide, Wide, Land is my all time favorite song, and is one I know is very special and dear to Mona and Lisa because it’s about their grandmother who suffered from Alzheimers, and it reminds me of my mom too.  It is one of the most beautiful song’s I’ve ever heard and the video is so touching.

3..Bus Stop is one of the best music videos I’ve seen, even compared to the multitudes of music videos that came out in the 80’s and 90’s (remember MTV and Much Music in Canada).  Love the MLT version of this song, and the video production/choreography is so well done.

4..These Boots are Made for Walking.  I just love the live performance of this song by Mona and Lisa, and the vibe it captures of the Cavern club.

New #5 is the Little Drummer Boy video, just because the singing and harmonies are just so sublime, and the fact they could make something so beautiful with only their voices and drum is remarkable too.   The video is so cleverly done too showing all the individual voices that appear.

Martin, well stated.  I agree Beatles (fab 4) were greater than the sum of their 4 parts.  Reflects the view of MLT as well.

Wow Howard.  Thats an interesting and fun version of Little Drummer Boy you found.  Never knew of this one by Joan Jett.  But Im glad I have the MLT one.  Nothing is quite the same after that.

Count me in Jerry.  I always love the guitar lead in on this song whenever I put on side 2 of the Orange vinyl, great song.  They also sing with so much feeling on the acoustic video, and with every strum of the guitar too.  I don’t know how many times I’ve watched that video, including the latest Two of Us.  On both videos you can see just how tight they are in their playing and vocalizing, so natural and incredibly awesome!

    Great poem Jacki

There is something special about the power of two even in nature.  We see it in mathematics (powers of 2, exponentials etc), computers are built on binary (2 states = 1 and 0), the celestial bodies in the universe like stars and galaxies appear and interact in pairs, and even at the sub atomic level 2 plays a big role.

With regards to people, I like this quote:

“One person can have a profound affect on another.  Two people can work miracles.  They can change the world.”

When it comes to “when two works wonders” what better example can we think of than our lovely MonaLisa Twins.

Hi Michael!  Yeah, Moody Blues did some incredible songs and I think and they are underrated in many greatest band lists I think.  I love Tuesday Afternoon, can listen to that all day, as well as the all time classic Nights in White Satin and many others.  My list was up to 25 at one point, and I had to go back and curtail to 20, even though it was supposed to be a top 10.  And shhhh… ABBA was in there somewhere too smiley tongue

Your #4, 5, 6 and 9 I’m not familiar with.  I’ll have to check them out on Youtube.

And loving the MLT club too!

    Have a great weekend!

Hi Howard.  Yes it was on that Q and A video, and I could not quite make out the rest of Lisa’s joke either.  Maybe a good question to ask.  Always love hearing back from them.

From Janis Joplins Mercedes Benz to the latest angelic Little Drummer Boy highs, Lisa’s singing depth and range is spectacular, and Mona’s singing range from a raspy John Lennon’s Revolution to breathtaking depths in Steve Harley’s Best Days of our Lives is incredible.  Individually as singers they are both as good as the best of the best in the music world ever.   Karen Carpenter, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, the list goes on for some of the greatest rock/pop female singers each with their own strengths (I bet none of them can do Hey Bull Dog as good as Mona and Lisa).  Mona and Lisa I think would fit right in that company of greats easily based on the broad singing range they are capable of.   While the Beach Boys and Beatles did awesome harmonies, for the Master of Harmony title the star shines brighter with Mona and Lisa in their sheer harmonic beauty in my opinion.   This is why Mona and Lisa  can do the variety of covers they do so spectacularly staying true to the essence of the originals while giving the listener a truly unique refreshing experience with these classic songs.  As a result they have created some magnificent sounds in their originals like The Wide Wide Land, I Don’t Know Birds that Well, Waiting for the Waiter, Club 27, Sweet Lorraine, Count on Me, and Still a Friend of Mine, and the future glitters ever so bright for them with their new creations with this kind of remarkable talent.

On another thread I argued Lisa belongs in the company of some of the greatest guitarist that ever walked the earth.  I extend that to singing as well along with Mona.

For the doubters here if there are any at all, just put your head phones on and listen closely to San Francisco, Best Years of our Lives, and most definitely Little Drummer Boy.  Also If I Fell, This Boy, God Only Knows, You’re Going to Lose that Girl, You Really Got Me, White Room, Time of the Season, Morning has Broken, Yesterday…the list goes on.

Hi Bob.  When you mentioned WSU Cougars that brought back a ton of memories.  My dad did his graduate studies at WSU in 1965, and I was 2 years old then when we immigrated from South Korea and we lived in residence there at the university, my dad, mom, older brother and myself.  I am told I took my first footsteps and started to run on campus.   My earliest memories at 2 to 4 years old was walking around on campus with my mom to go down to see the cougar mascot.  So I am a huge WSU fan too!!!

The picture here is a WSU Cougar fight song album my dad bought at the campus in 1965.  I remember marching to all the WSU band songs on that album when my dad use to play it.  My brother who would have been about 12 then was probably listening to Beatles Rubber Soul.  As you can see in the picture, I still have that album.  Just had to share this with another WSU Cougar fan.
