    Hi Tim,

We have quite a few independent radio stations that play our music from time to time and have been in more frequent rotation on Austrian stations, BBC Radio Merseyside or the Sirius FM Beatles channel. But it is not something we are actively pursuing as we think that the internet, streaming, YouTube, etc. has proven itself to be much more efficient in introducing our music to new people these days.

Sometimes we would still visit bigger BBC shows and do interviews to promote new music but to be added to their “regular” playlist you pretty much have to be signed to one of the big labels or pay a LOT of money. And to us that has a ton more drawbacks than it is worth 🙂

But always feel free to call your favourite radio show and request them to play our music! ♥

    Hi Thomas,

We’re sure Salzburg is greatly benefiting from the tourists that visit because of the movie that is so popular around the world. However, that doesn’t mean that the rest of the country knows much about it 🙂 And those who do, often quite dislike it. If you have a quick google you’ll be able to find loads of articles about this strange phenomenon: http://www.tourmycountry.com/austria/thesoundofmusic.htm

This author obviously has a lot of strong feelings about the movie but it is one of many like that and proves the point 😉

I’m sure that if you live in the city Salzburg, chances are you know about this movie. But we’ve been skiing (and living) in the county of Salzburg every winter for most of our childhood, our grandpa grew up in Salzburg, Austrians love theatre and music and movies and the countryside, yet still … we didn’t hear about this movie until we visited the United States for the very first time. Our parents included. Our friends included (the ones we asked anyway).

I now know that many people around the world view it as one of the world’s most popular films, so while I can understand the criticism Austrians and Germans would have about this movie, I too am a little baffled that this movie isn’t just disliked but also generally unknown to Austrians 🙂 It’s strange and definitely not a g-g-g-generational thing.

    Stay groovy!

    Hi Michael!
Yes, I take guitar lessons occasionally. I hadn’t had any real lessons for years but I started again during the first lockdown in 2020 – a few online lessons over Skype. It’s been a great way to keep evolving and learning new techniques and theory. And to just keep picking up the guitar regularly. Especially now that we haven’t played live in a long time, it is really helpful and gives myself other reasons to work on those skills 🙂

Hi Antonio! Do you mean if any of us likes to play the boss? 😉 Normally, the workload and responsibilities about everything MLT is pretty evenly split. We both have different aspects of our work that we are in charge of, so depending on who is looking over what project is usually the one being in charge.
But god forbid one of us gets too bossy with the other ????

Hi Rick! We used to bring lots of different guitars to the Cavern when we first started playing there but over the two years we played there we really slimmed down the amount of gear we brought each time.

Once we figured out the songs that worked best and the kind of sound most suited for the Cavern, I figured that all I really needed was my Gretsch Duo Jet. No feedback issues, no swapping guitars, less hassle … plus nothing beats that Gretsch sound anyway 😉

So I adapted the few songs I would have otherwise played on an acoustic or nylon string guitar to work on my electric guitar, June being one of them.

Thanks, I also really love how it sounds like played on my Gretsch 🙂

    Hi Brian,
I know, Christmas is long gone now, but I hope you saw the MLT Club wire a few weeks ago when we uploaded the chords for the song. In case you didn’t but want to already prepare for next year’s festivities, here is the link 😉 https://test4.monalisa-twins.com/mlt-club-lyrics-chords/

We hope your holidays were lovely and that you had a good start to 2021 already!
We send lots of hugs back and wish you all the best.

The piano of guitars!! Certainly a wacky and cool looking instrument. Hats off to whoever decides to take on the journey of mastering this instrument 😉

I’ve never played on anything like that but of course it’d be fun to give it a try. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of its tone, even from when the stick masters are playing. I prefer the sound of strings being plucked or strung rather than tapped.
But thanks for sharing the video and for reminding us of one of the more weird and wondrous string instruments out there!

I’d say that the most important factor is that we have to really like the song. Nearly all the songs we’ve covered, really mean something to us. There is always something about the composition, the song’s meaning, lyrics, sound or its ties to our own life story that makes us choose a song.
We generally don’t cover things we’re not really into, even if we think they would do well on YouTube for example.

A song has to work well for our voices, our style and whatever concept or project we’re currently working on (Duo Sessions, a new Beatles compilation CD, a homage or Birthday present to someone, etc.). If they are popular songs that could potentially gain us new fans by doing well on YouTube, that is just an added bonus. But actually, if we learnt one thing it is that there is no way to really predict how well a song is going to do. We’ve had “popular” songs doing rather poorly (in terms of views) while more obscure songs got loads more clicks. There really is no foolproof recipe.

So in summary, it’s songs we love, we can play well and songs we either think we can give an interesting twist or cover in a way that we don’t lose any of its original beauty. At least that’s what we’re always trying to do 🙂

This answer always changes but I always especially loved performing the heavier things like My Generation or Revolution. They are just so much fun to do live.

We recently uploaded “My Generation” to YouTube and it’s probably evident that we’re having a pretty good time 😉

When we first got the idea to possibly do a student exchange we initially thought about the US. We had visited California twice before that and had such a positive experience there, so it seemed like the obvious choice. We quickly found out that we were a year too young to apply for a spot there (you had to be 15 and we were only 14) so that option got ruled out.

We definitely wanted to visit an English speaking country so there was a limited option of places that took in younger students: UK, New Zealand and Australia

Australia seemed the most exciting! 🙂

It always felt like such an exotic, intriguing and adventurous place, and of course it turned out to be just that!

Michaela did a lot of research on various schools there that had a strong music/art focus and we happened to find some great ones in Adelaide. We still think it was a wonderful place with lots of amazing people ♥

    Hi Rick,

We never really had a moment like you described. Becoming more and more confident in our abilities has been a long ongoing process and I think we will always suffer from the typical artist sicknesses of being our own worst critics. That being said, normally with a bit of distance we do have occasional bouts of feeling super proud and very accomplished with what we create 🙂

But I wouldn’t describe it as something that we discovered we “had”. Everything we’ve done has been hard team work and lots or hours of practise and work. So it wasn’t some sort of “inner magic” we discovered but more a long process of work 🙂 I hope that makes sense!

“And secondly what have you not been able to do? In other words, What have you missed the most if you had not chosen your career path?”
Doing what we do, the way we do it definitely comes with its sacrifices. They are totally worth it to us but of course having work, life, family and business so intertwined comes with its own challenges.

I guess if we had chosen a different and more “traditional” career path, we would have put more focus on things like creating our own families, have more free time and a more separate work and leisure schedule.

Something we could always see ourselves do since we were little was to work with animals, which isn’t something we do at all these days. So maybe you could say that we miss that about our lives but to be honest I don’t think about that a lot ????‍♀️

Every lifestyle comes with its pros and cons and I’d take our cons over alternative career paths’ cons any day 🙂
