That’s the first time I heard this song, thanks for sharing! The harmonies ❤️ !!
You’re right, the list of cover suggestions we get is endless but at least we often discover new music that way 🙂
Hope all is well and groovy!

The simple answer to that would be yes 🙂

We think we would be making 10 year old Mona and Lisa very proud. We assume that with “your success” you meant the success of what we have accomplished as “MonaLisa Twins” specifically.

It depends on how you define success but by the metrics that matter most to us which would be the impact our music has on other people, the happiness it brings ourselves, the experiences we get to create for other people, the sense of meaning we derive from it and the types of experiences and relationships we get to have ourselves because of this “path”, we consider ourselves very successful 🙂 In many ways things have turned out better than we ever dreamed of.

If you would define success by it’s more measurable aspects like the amount of people that know us, the amount of money we make, albums we’ve released, songs we’ve written etc … of course we are always working on ways to improve that. The more ears that listen, the merrier 🙂 But we’re anything but unhappy with how things are going at the moment.

A long answer to a short question ♥

Haha, gosh that makes us happy!
And we also do that!! Not so much to our own music but we often put on some music and go crazy … beats any other form of cardio ????. Nothing gets you more pumped for a workout than doing the mashed potatoes to some Kinks as a warm-up!

Thanks for sharing this story! Keep dancing!

We know a few Paul Revere and The Raiders tunes that we absolutely adore but we have yet to really dig into their catalog. It’s probably time to change that 🙂
We’ve never heard of Gary Lewis & The Playboys before but will check them out.

There is still a lot of American 60’s stuff that we haven’t heard of. Obviously not everything is our cup of tea simply because it was recorded in the 60’s but it’s fun to get to know some of the bands that are lesser known here in the UK or Europe yet were huge in the States. It gives us a better understanding of the musical landscape.
    Thanks for the 2 suggestions!

Hi Charlie, that is so good to hear! We’re glad our music became part of your life and that you found us through the collaboration with John Sebastian. One of our highlights of 2018 🙂
Thank you for joining the Club and for getting our CDs! Support like that is what helps make this all possible!
We are also really sorry to hear about the passing of your wife and our whole family sends our deepest condolences.
All the best and see you around,
    Lisa ( & Mona)

    Thanks Andy,

Everyone in team MLT is doing splendidly, we hope so are you 🙂

The black & white footage we used in “That’s Life” is from an old short film called “War Babies” starring “everybody’s darling”, Shirley Temple. A satire on “real” life and “grown up” business which we thought worked well with the lyrics of the song. The absurdity of this thing called life.

We’re glad you like the video and how we put it all together!

    Groovy greetings,
    Lisa

Oh we miss the food nearly as much as our family! 😛

The Brits have a lot going for them: music, art, sports … food just isn’t one of their strengths 😉 Salt is apparently the source of all evil around here, leaving most food rather bland.

Of course there are British dishes we enjoy and you can get great Italian, Indian, Turkish, etc. food around here too but we do miss the Schnitzel and the sourdough bread and the Knödel (dumplings) and the Mehlspeisen (cakes and pastries) and the roasts, sausages and Gulasch and all the basics like cold cut meats and spreads. The thing I might miss the most though is something called Leberkäse, a meaty guilty pleasure of mine. That in a fresh bread roll with ketchup is heaven on earth.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding here in England kind of makes up for some of these shortcomings though …

PS: Yumm, Korean food ???? !

    And lots of them!

Normally they aren’t fully fleshed out for a reason, like us not being too happy with a song and dropping it to work on an idea we like better. Especially now that we’re writing lots of songs for the new album, we have accumulated a bunch of new half-finished songs that we either haven’t come around to finishing yet or dropped halfway through the writing process.

Our phones, computers and notepads are also full of little audio snippets or rough lyrics or riffs or melodies that might find their way into a song in the end 🙂

    Hi Lynn,
We just re-watched the “Liverpool Calling” video to see what clip you were talking about.
We are showing a slide where you can see our daily views go up from 2k to about 5k when we started uploading more regularly. We were so happy with that development!

And now we are getting between 40k and 70k views every single day!! … watching that old video made me quite emotional. Given that the presentation at the LIPA school doesn’t feel THAT long ago so much has changed since. I guess 6 more years of hard work is paying off 🙂

You can actually follow our weekly and monthly stats here: https://socialblade.com/youtube/user/monalisatwins
Unfortunately, the income estimate numbers are anything but accurate but the daily weekly and monthly views are correct 🙂

We know some of our fans follow the numbers closely because they normally are the first to let us know when we approach a new milestone 😉

That’s probably our favourite Neil Young song, so if we were to cover one of his tunes, that one might be it.
    All the best,

Haha now that would have been fun! It’s been a while since Mona and I had a good guitar battle. But the lead playing was all done by me, no overdubbing on the solo parts as far as I remember. Mona was playing the rhythm guitar throughout the whole song. And the drums of course 🙂

That is a really interesting question, thanks Brian. Being twins and living and working the way we do definitely brings its challenges but also many, many blessings.

It is still something we are figuring out as times goes on and as circumstances change. We share a lot of the same interests, hobbies, friends and space but we do not spend all of the time together or we would inevitably drive each other insane, despite how much we love each other 😉

However, because our whole family does get on so well and has figured out how to work together and still get the individual space we need, quarantine has been a breeze in that regard, haha.

I feel like for the point we are at in our lives, we’ve got this pretty well worked out and are able to communicate and find the best ways to make this MLT family and music affair work harmoniously 🙂

    Hi Rick,

It’s always a team effort but Dad is definitely the head of the recording and mixing department. We often record our own tracks but he’s the one putting it all together in the end.

When it comes to video it really depends on who’s got the most time to spare/dedicate to each project. We all edit, film, cut, colour grade, etc. I usually do more of the post-production work, while Dad does most of the filming and Mona is great at doing the cut with Michaela giving her 2 cents on story consistency and dramatic composition. But it really is different for each video.

    Hi Darryl,

First off, we’re sorry to hear that your band broke up! I hope that you might play and perform together once playing and performing together will be a thing again 🙂

But great that you’re keeping yourself busy with the bass. Short scale basses are the best. The Hofner is short scale and they are so nice and easy to just pick up and play. Or rather, pick up, plug in and play! Dad plays through whatever is at hand like his Little Mark Tube or even a little Fender 12” monitor whenever we jam together, though he does practice without it being plugged in, too. Not when he plays the Rickenbacker (it’s too quiet) but the Hofner has enough body to be audible without being plugged in.

But yes, whenever we play together or when we record he nearly always uses the Little Mark Tube with a Warwick 15″ bass cabinet.

Hope the floorboards have become loose by now 🙂 Keep them rattling and stay groovy!

Greetings Nigel, from Mona and me!

We’re glad you joined us here and hope the months ahead will be a fun ride 🙂 We don’t think we’ve ever been to Lancaster itself but we love Lancashire, lots of friendly people!

Thanks and have a groovy day!
