Hi Kenny,
Thanks, we’re glad you enjoyed the Giveaway! Yes, that is actually something we will definitely consider, especially for the Club. We have offered limited edition handwritten lyrics for sale in the Club before and people seemed to really like them. We will do special edition runs like that again with photos, lyrics etc.
Also, all Club members get the posters from our webshop signed as one of the perks of being here 🙂 We were thinking of printing new posters soon but for now you can find all available ones here: https://test4.monalisa-twins.com/product-category/accessories-monalisa-twins/We’ll always keep you updated on any specials through the MLT Club Wire ♥
Thanks for the input and have a groovy day!

Aww, thanks Rick for the sweet words ♥
Regarding covering The Beatles’ Oh Darling: It’s not that high up on our “potential covers” list but we love it dearly! Paul’s vocals are terrific and unless we find a way to interpret the song in an authentic way we’ll continue to admire it from afar 😉
Groovy greetings,
Mona & Lisa -
Haha good question, Nathan!
We’ve done some Who, Stones and Cream songs over the years but we don’t really have that classic hard rock kind of voice that comes to mind with bands like Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc. (if that’s the kind of stuff you are referring to). We might go a bit heavier from time to time, also with our original songs, but when it comes to covers, classic hard-rock isn’t really our go-to genre. But you never know 🙂

Hi Dale,
That really is different for every song. Sometimes we start off with a rough idea of what we want the song and lyrics to be about and build the music around it, while sometimes we have a nice melody or chord progression in mind that we then try to find good words to. Sometimes a guitar lick or bass line comes first, sometimes it’s a catchy phrase.
Normally we pass songs around between the three of us (Mona, Lisa, Papa Rudi) whenever we get stuck with one aspect. Sometimes it helps to work on something with a fresh perspective.
So there really hasn’t been a go-to formula so far or a sequence of steps that has been used more often than others. It might make for a less exciting answer to that question but it is what it is 🙂 -
We don’t really have a “hands off” rule between the two of us. Family is exempt from that 😉

Hi Bill,
We sang “You’ve Got A Friend” with our vocal teacher at a little farewell party before leaving for our student exchange to Australia back in 2009. It was such a sweet moment but so far the only time we’ve tackled any of her music.
Her albums are on quite regularly in our house but it’s not necessarily the music we feel drawn to when it comes to cover choices. I don’t think we’ll be recording any Carol King songs anytime soon but appreciate the suggestion! 🙂

Hi Rick,
We usually tweak the colours and overall look to fit whatever song we’re performing. I lifted the shadows a touch to give it more of a retro look. Well spotted 🙂
Take care and stay groovy! -

Jim Ladd has a great voice!

We both don’t drink so going off the rails means ordering a can of coke for me 😉
The wine tends to only find its way into cooking recipes.

Queen, oh Queen … They have written some of our favourite songs while at the same time released songs we’d rather never hear again 😉 It’s a love/hate relationship for us (though mainly love).
We’ve yet to cover one of their songs … maybe that’s because our favourite songs by them are all so heavily dependent on their arrangements and Freddie’s voice that we haven’t really focused on giving them a go. Maybe in the future 🙂“Love Of My Life” is beautiful but it probably wouldn’t be our first choice of Queen songs. ♥

Oh wow, we really want to see this painting! 🙂
We’re so happy that our cover inspired you to create some art yourself!
We saw that the photo upload setting was broken but we fixed it now. Please try uploading the image using this button again:

Hi Bill,
We’ve never considered this song to cover. It’s a cool Stones track! Cool in every sense 😉 Love the playing by Mick Taylor ? It doesn’t jump at me as the kind of song that would suit us but I’ll add it to the long list of potential covers to re-think at a later point.
Stay groovy!

Hi Mike,
Recently we both have been diving a lot more into the theory side of things to unlock more of the “source code” of what we’ve been doing for so long. On the guitar it’s easy to learn certain tricks, scales and licks without necessarily understanding why they work. I really don’t think that you have to understand them in order to make great music but I found that, with my own playing, knowing why I’m doing what I’m doing has opened up a lot of possibilities.
So I recently started taking occasional guitar lessons again, something I haven’t done since I was 15 🙂 It has been great having someone guide me through topics and techniques that I find harder to figure out through YouTube videos alone. Also it’s good to have someone hold you accountable to practise things that are on the boring side but necessary.
So that will stay my focus for the months ahead. There are still so many aspects of my guitar playing that I want to work on. From improvising to picking up new techniques like rockabilly or fingerstyle playing to improving my theory knowledge to better speed and precision.
Hope you’ve been enjoying the new Duo Session CD and thanks for the question ♥

After a heatwave here in the UK it’s back to good ol’ rain so the snacks have changed accordingly ?
