Buddy Holly rules! I had to think for a second whether we ever covered one of his tunes but I don’t think so. We love the groundwork he’s helped lay for what pop was going to evolve into.

We love the beginnings of rock n’ roll – the simpler, slightly cheesy but innovative songs – for what they are, but what would happen during the 60s thanks to guys like him is what took it all to the next level. In my humble opinion 🙂 The best example of course being the Beatles who took those influences and added so much more depth and finesse to ‘rock n roll’ and pop music.

So in a way you could say I love Buddy Holly more for the music he has helped create through his influence than the music he recorded himself 🙂

    Thank you Brian!
My guitar is tuned to an open D (D A D F# A D) with the capo on the 5th fret (so sounding like an open G) and Mona’s is tuned to an open E with the capo on the 3rd fret. Yeah, we could have just used the same tuning/capo placement on both guitars but we wanted to have a little bit of variety 🙂
We love this song, and I don’t get to sing falsetto that often or use an open tuning so it was a fun change. We’re both glad you like the version ♥

    Hi Jung,
Hearing how much our music and this Club gave you comfort during the lockdown makes us truly happy. The Club and everyone here has done the same for us.

Luckily, a lot of our day-to-day life has stayed surprisingly similar to how it was before the lockdown. We can continue to record music, practise our instruments, film videos, work on our Social Media posts and the MLT Club, and that’s what’s making up the majority of our day so not a lot has changed.

Of course, we can’t see our friends as much, or in the way we would like to see them, but we’re using Skype for virtual hangouts or meet outside with plenty of space. All outdoor events, races and concerts were cancelled but we’re doing virtual races instead and are going to outdoor fitness classes with our friends and family. We’re catching up with our extended family in Austria via Skype but that was the same before the lockdown.

We’ve also started doing daily jam sessions in the studio which is probably the best thing that has come out of all of this 🙂 We also do lots of home workouts together anyway and try to get out in nature whenever possible.

So yes, luckily we were able to keep a lot of our daily routines the same. We are mainly doing studio work at the moment and didn’t have to cancel any live shows, so in a weird way things seemed to happen at the right time for us. We are well aware of how much more disastrous this lockdown could have been if we would have been in any other stage of our career or if we would have prioritised things differently for 2020.

We hope things will change soon but we will have to wait and see. The arbitrariness and ambiguity with which all of this is unfolding is worrying to say the least. Time will tell but hopefully we’ll be able to look back on all this and say we have learnt a lesson or two.

I hope you are dealing well with the whole situation. Take care, stay groovy,

    Lisa

    Hi David!
Thank you so much for joining the Club so soon after discovering our videos on YouTube and for all the kind and flattering words.
As your name twin David pointed out, it is great to see so many Canadians here in the Club. We have yet to meet a single unpleasant Canadian and would love to visit your country one day 🙂

Mona and me hope you’ll have a wonderful time here at the Club and send groovy greetings!

    Hi Tim,

Greetings from a not so sunny Liverpool (it’s nightime :-))!
Welcome to the family and thanks for being here. There is no need to thank us for covering the songs you grew up with. We’re the ones who are incredibly thankful that this amazing music exists, which was created before our time and which we can draw so much inspiration from!

We hope you’ll enjoy your time here at the Club.

Stay groovy and see you around,
    Lisa

    Hi Josh,
Yes, we have heard of the Analogues. There is a good chance we have even seen them live at some point as we played many, many Beatles Festivals with lots of Beatles cover bands over the years. From what we’ve seen of them on YouTube just now, they are doing a terrific job! They honour the Beatles’ music without the cheesy copying of their looks.

Oddly enough, we aren’t really into Beatles Cover bands in general. Maybe because we’ve seen sooo many of them during our years of playing the Cavern Club and doing Beatles festivals ? But we get why they bring so much joy to so many people and really respect it if the Beatles’ music is being honoured and kept alive by great musicians.

Take care and lots of love to Cleveland ♥

18/07/2020 at 22:06 in reply to: Hair & Makeup (But mostly hair)

As someone who is notoriously lazy about doing anything too complicated with my hair (Mona would always like me to try out different braids and updos and what not) I am now ecstatic about the fact that I seemed to have at least make this hairstyle LOOK complicated ;-D It really was super simple to do. I tied a ponytail, then braided a little section from that ponytail, wrapped it around the hairtie a few times and secured it with a few hair pins. If it would have taken longer than 10 minutes I probably wouldn’t have done it as I hate working with fidgety, slippery, long, tangly hair.
Maybe one day I’ll be able to have eight hair stylists doing it for me 😉

Hi Antonio, We uploaded the episode to a website called DailyMotion because YouTube didn’t like us using too much of one of the original audio clips. Legally speaking, we would have been allowed to do that but we didn’t want to go through the hassle of fighting the dispute or cutting out Lennon’s “Brrright”. We’ll try uploading the next episode straight to YouTube again.
    Stay groovy,
    Lisa

No deadline, you can keep submitting questions until we get around to filming the video 🙂 We will close the post then. With so much going on at the moment we haven’t found the time to sit down and film the Q&A but we will  do it eventually! Thanks for submitting questions in the meantime ♥
