Thanks, Dan!!
Somewhere along the writing process we did sketch out the intro but it wasn’t until we had already recorded the basics, that we figured out the details about the intro and played around with different approaches, picking patterns, arpeggios etc.
We did want to emulate the feeling of rain so we’re glad that it worked 🙂 -
Hi Jeffrey,
Unfortunately we didn’t have (or take) much time to watch a lot of the Olympic games. We found out about the Austrian cyclist Anna Kiesenhofer winning gold in a spectacular fashion only in retrospect. Her story and win was incredible: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/26/sport/anna-kiesenhofer-olympic-gold-tokyo-2020-spt-intl/index.html
It seems that for Austria it is often the lone warriors that don’t depend on unions and institutionalised “support systems” that seem to go the furthest. Whether that’s in the sports or the arts 🙂
Congrats to the States for bringing home the most medals! You must be proud of your athletes ♥

Hi Diana!
We didn’t have much of a script for this video when going into this shoot 😉 The whole deadpan-face-Mona idea was more of a spontaneous idea and we certainly didn’t plan for me to choke on my own hair, haha, I was just a little too much into the popcorn.
I remember that we tried out quite a few combinations and “reactions” and basically chose what to go for during the editing phase later on. I’m glad you think the video is funny!

Hi Melvin,Yes, we have met him on a few occasions but so far only chatted briefly. We have some mutual friends and know his son and grandson quite well. He has always been really kind, and I am sure we’ll bump into him again at some point.

Hi Lynn,
“Crazy On You” definitely wouldn’t be out of range for us but it’s not really the type of singing style we prefer or that we think suits our voices best. We’ve never been super into high pitched rock voices in both female or male singers (though that is a cool track!) which might also be why it isn’t a singing style we dabble in much.
As far as our vocal ranges go, I wouldn’t know from the top of my head so I just did a little test on the piano and found that at the moment I can go from C3 to C6. According to the internet that apparently puts me somewhere between a tenor and a soprano. Since I definitely don’t sound my best at the extreme ends of that range, I guess I’m technically an “Alto” or “Mezzo”. I really don’t think it matters and some songs sound better sung in a lower chest voice, some more in a high falsetto and some work best somewhere in between 🙂
Thanks for the congratulations for the “Hotel California” milestone. Is still such a shame that it’s blocked for US viewers but we’re glad it’s being viewed in other parts of the world.

Hi John,
I hope you don’t mind me pointing you to this link where we’ve been asked this question before: https://test4.monalisa-twins.com/forums/topic/motown/

Hi Bill,
First of all a big hello to the Club! Thanks for joining us here and leaving your first question ♥
So, if we were to get stranded on a desert island we would have to pick an acoustic guitar. We’re not clever enough to invent electricity and build an amp from scratch 😉 We’ll take this even further and say that since getting some spare steel strings would be pretty much impossible on a desert island, choosing a nylon string guitar would probably be the smarter choice. After all, nylon strings used to be made out of animal intestines. … While ripping out the guts of some poor antelope so we can continue practising our major scales doesn’t sound like the best pastime, at least we have the OPTION, haha.
So we would probably choose our Cordoba Nylon String (Fusion Series 12).
If you simply wanted to know our all time favourite guitar, it would have to be my Gretsch Duo Jet (G6128T-DSV) and Mona would pick her favourite Martin Acoustic Custom.
Again, thanks for joining the Club and have a groovy day!!

Welcome Bruce, and a belated 64th Happy Birthday from the both of us!
We hope you enjoyed your birthday week and are glad our music could be part of your celebratory soundtrack 😉 Thanks for all the kind words!
How lovely to welcome a fellow runner to the MLT Club! We did our second race of the year last weekend, a 10k. What we’ve found out is that all that long distance training we did for the first half of the year in preparation for the ultra, really doesn’t help with your short distance speed ???? We had fun though!
Thanks for deciding to support us here at the Club, we appreciate it a lot and hope you’re enjoying your evening! Welcome to the community!

Hi Kenny,
I have a few different Lanikai ukuleles, but the one I play the most is a concert size (LU-21CE).
Lanikai are one of the more established uke brands out there and offer a lot of really affordable but decent instruments up to really high-quality ones at higher price points. Ours were on the cheaper side but I am still very happy with them. But I am really no expert on this and haven’t had the chance to compare them to any other ukulele brands or more expensive brands/models.
Hope that helps!

Hi JP! Your story made us laugh, we’re happy we’ve released a brand new album just for you. Vol 3 came out at the same time as Vol 2 (it was a double release) so maybe there’s even some songs on Vol 2 that you have missed! 😉
Yes, you are right in guessing that we used some backward guitars for “Once Upon A Time. It was an entertaining process as it is really hard to predict how a certain melody or lick is going to come out once you reverse it. Lots of trial and error and recording a bunch of guitar lines and then picking the best ones.
The only other time we have used a “backwards” effect was in our song “Nothing Is In Vain” off our debut album. If you listen to the end of it you will hear a backwards swoosh sound that cuts off really abruptly. That’s actually a cymbal being played backwards 🙂
All the best and yvoorg yats !

Well, I get to claim all the praise and glory for myself with this one, haha. But I usually don’t go for particularly difficult braids as I usually quickly lose patience when fiddling about with my super fine and long hair. I’ve mastered the side-braid which is how I wear my hair 95% of the time to avoid it getting tangled.
No offence to Dad who is a man of many talents, but I doubt he could help me tie a simple ponytail ???? -
Hi Michael,
We both wear glasses – or contact lenses if we’re not being lazy and make the effort to put them in 😉
We can get away without them if we’re just at home or filming a Duo Session, etc. but if we’re out and about and driving we’ll always be wearing glasses or contact lenses to avoid crashing into trees at the side of the road or waving to strangers thinking they’re friends!

Hi Tim,
There are a ton of places we’d love to visit, and of course another trip to the US has been on our minds for many years now. I honestly doubt it will happen anytime soon though, and for now we’re not spending any time making travel plans.
We’re too busy with this new album and the world is too insane right now to make any concrete plans 😉 But rest assured that we will take you all along through the power of video making to wherever we’re going next!
All the best from across the big pond!

Hi John,
We do sometimes and you’re right, we love how some of the questions spark great discussions! Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to follow every thread and respond to the individual follow-up comments so we usually just respond to the initial question but we like reading forum replies and comments in our down-time. 🙂
