Haha, we love a bit of dark comedy, and I guess a lot of that got channeled into “Sweet Lorraine”. We were intrigued by the idea of writing a “sweet” song with twisted lyrics, and using love as a catalyst for catastrophe seemed like the perfect opportunity to play around with that.
Imagine the song had “nice” lyrics – that would just be too much! 🙂

    Hi Bill,

We actually get this quite a lot but we always feel like we’d rather invest the time and energy in covering and performing songs that are completely new to us.

There are only so many days in a week (8, right?) so if we actually find the time to work on new songs, we’re always more excited about conquering new grounds 🙂

That being said, we’re never going to say never, so who knows, maybe we’ll feel like giving Mrs. Robinson another go one day!

Actually, there are plenty of songs on our “Live at the Cavern Club” album that we’ve already done earlier recording on YouTube of, and we also re-recorded “Leise Rieselt Der Schnee/Snow Falls Softly At Night” for our Christmas album. ♥

Hi Stephen! First of all thanks 😀

We’re not entirely sure how “YouTubeMusic” works. We’re not subscribed to the service ourselves so we haven’t had a chance to check it out from the user’s point of view.

The reason only our first albums are available for streaming is because we haven’t given the “OK” to stream our later stuff on any of the major platforms like Spotify and apparently also YouTubeMusic. We’ve never really been okay with their policies and way of paying/treating the artists so we haven’t made them available there yet.

This may or may not be the right move and is something with various pros and cons so we might rethink it at some point but at the moment we’d rather concentrate on setting up our own way of connecting to our new and existing audience.

So it’s not really a “mistake” that the albums are not showing up for you but thanks for letting us know!

    Hi Lynn,

Yes, we have a few of these tiny companions 🙂 The simple brown Lanikai LU-21CE is the one we got first. It was less than a hundred bucks but it’s the one we used on most of our recordings and live shows. It is “concert” size.

Later on we were gifted a Lanikai “UkeSB”, which looks super pretty and has a built in USB port. The USB thing is a bit of a gimmick, that I don’t think many people would actually use but the instrument itself is really nice. I play it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIHQBMijVO8

In terms of playability and sound I actually don’t prefer it to the cheaper Lanikai so I wouldn’t recommend spending the extra money on it.

Other than that we really don’t have much experience with other brands. I’m sure there are a lot higher quality ones out there that stay in tune better. But for its price the LU-21CE really is a-okay.

The Fender you mentioned is another cool gift that we got a while ago but it’s actually an electric 4 string mandolin, not a ukulele. They call it a “Mando Strat” 🙂 We were so happy when we got to use it in the Lola video!

    Hope that helps ♥

    Hi Lynn,
We’re not sure if we’ll find the time to record more original music videos for ORANGE songs before the new album comes out. Maybe! But the number one priority is finishing the new songs. 🙂

Haha, I really like Mona’s little smiley face! It’s cute! I’ve never tried to incorporate one into my own signature but I’m glad it happened by accident 🙂

Haha, that is a very kind and generous question ???? We don’t own that particular CD set but we have all sorts of reissues/remixes/box-sets/compilations so we most likely have all the songs from it on CD/vinyl and of course our computers already.

So, if you were thinking of spending lots of money on this CD set, while we highly appreciate the thought, it’s not something we would really get too much use out of ♥
But thank you so much for asking!

    Hi Jung!

There have been so many shows that really meant a lot to us for different reasons. Whether that would have been the first ever live concert we did with our family (that we made the CD from back in 2007), our biggest self organised show with our new band back in Austria in the neighboring village, the first time we got to play at the legendary Cavern Club that had our spines tingle throughout the whole set, the LAST show we played there, that we made our “Live at the Cavern Club” album from, our big Showcase in London or any of the big festival shows we got to play with Steve Harley in front in tens of thousands of people.

We’re thankful for all the different experiences and the diversity in shows we got to play. Even the crappy, difficult gigs taught us an awful lot that made us better performers in the long run.

It’s hard to pick a favourite show we ever did. It’s the fact that they are all a bit different that makes each of them so special. And the audience makes 80% of a show 😉 Having an amazing, energetic crowd enjoying the music you are putting your heart and soul into is the best feeling in the world. Whether that happens in a tiny pub or the world’s biggest stage. ♥

23/02/2021 at 00:08 in reply to: Duo session lead guitar arrangements

    Hi Jung,

the nice thing about doing these acoustic sessions is that we already have a reference to work with. So when we rearrange one of our own songs for just two people I work with the guitar lines that are already on the original recording. It always feels a bit like covering your own music because in 90% of all cases I have completely forgotten what exactly I’ve played on our own recordings. ????

So while the guitar work on the album recording has definitely been a group effort (lots of sitting together in the studio, brainstorming for the best ideas) by the time we arrange them for a Duo Session, I would do most of it myself. And should there be something that thw others don’t like, they will tell me 🙂

    Hi John,
It’s very kind of you to suggest that we’d be any good at acting ????
It’s something that we don’t have much experience in but would love to get more into maybe one day. We have been approached with various projects and opportunities in the past but nothing has ever really fitted into our plans.
Maybe we’ll make our own movie one day!

22/02/2021 at 22:35 in reply to: Aliens inspired songs?

Love this question and topic 🙂
Unfortunately, we haven’t had any personal contact with the 3rd kind but it’s something that has intrigued us since we were young.

Throughout years of our early childhood, every night our Dad would tell us a bedtime story, a continuing saga that he made up on the spot, that was all about space travel, aliens and new planets 🙂 So it’s safe to say that outer space has been on our mind for a long time.

The plastic alien from the photo that you mentioned also found its way into a music video if you look closely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3JnZBz0Zro

It’s fascinating that you had such a profound experience in Lancashire that you even wrote books about it!

Gosh, there is so much we don’t know. To us, the idea of humans being the only living entities in this vast universe seems pretty unlikely but who knows if we’ll find out in this lifetime 🙂

22/02/2021 at 22:32 in reply to: T shirts shipping

    Hi Keith,
Sorry for not getting back to this sooner! Over the last year international shipping has unfortunately become ridiculously expensive. It seems like they are jacking up the fees every other month and there isn’t anything we can do about it, unfortunately.
We are however looking into setting up a distribution solution for the States to get the shipping costs down. We will probably start with CDs at first but once everything is running smoothly we might add merchandise, too. We will keep you updated through our newsletter and thank you for wanting to buy a t-shirt!

    Stay groovy!

    Hi Keith,

We have sung this song before with a local brass orchestra in Austria when we must have been about 14 years old. They asked us to sing with them for a performance nearby and we thought it would be a fun challenge and wanted to help them out. And a fun challenge it was 🙂

Big ballads like that aren’t what we would typically choose so I don’t think we’ll give it another go. Thanks for the suggestion though ♥

    Hi Bill and Maddie,

We absolutely love Karen’s voice but personally, we’ve never really got hooked on their music. Maybe there is something a bit too “sweet” that to us, oddly, takes away from the prettiness of her singing and the interesting compositions.

So we’ve never really felt compelled to cover one of their songs. But never say never, maybe we just haven’t found the right song 🙂

We hope you’re both doing well and send lots of groovy greetings!
