Speaking of culture shock, when I listen to Lisa singing Hotel California when she still had a distinctive accent, I get a whole new picture of what that song is all about. Its about a foreign tourist struggling with the craziness of California for the first time.
By the way, Lisa, if you read this, I loved your accent in your early songs. I knew it would disappear. Even the Beatles can’t sing their songs with much of an accent and you’ve learned to sing them the way they do.
Okay, I’ll let you get back to discussing Dylan (Bob).

It is my opinion that if you only watch two movies in your lifetime they should be “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and “The Princess Bride”.

Funny story about the song above ( A Simple Desultory Philippic). I became a S&G fan back in ’67 (Thanks to my older sister, who also got me into the Beatles in ’65). As a young teenager in the late 60’s I was a bit naive and I thought a line in this song was “It’s alright Ma, everybody loves this song.” Years later I figured out what they were really saying. Fast forward to around 2006 when I turned my youngest son onto S&G. I was passing his room when he was listening to this song and when it got to that line I sang loudly “Everybody loves this song”. I did this several times and somewhere a long the way he figured out those weren’t the right words. But, also being a naive young teenager, he could quite make out the actually words, so he finally asked me. And I told him, “Everybody must get stoned”. side note confession: I was 21 before I finally did what everybody must do.

When you say “Dylan”, I think you’re talking about Dylan Thomas. Whoever he was.
Sorry, that was just me being unhip.

Speaking of songs in German, how about a fun Oktoberfest song. Anyone else want to see Rudi in Lederhosen playing the keyboard?

Thanks for all the welcomes, folks. And Lisa, yep, I’m here. I enjoyed the email correspondence with you and Michaela, but didn’t figure that would continue indefinitely. So here I am, where I can join the banter with your most devoted fans and keep up with all your new stuff.

After the big goof I recently made, I certainly can’t complain about typos on this site. I created a playlist on my YouTube channel last week and put in the title “Monolisa Twins”. I’ve since fixed it. If you’re curious to see my selected songs, the playlist is called “Monalisa Twins – Eltenukem Mix”. Surprisingly it had 180 views the first week. I only have a half a dozen subscribers (all because of a Lindsey Stirling video I posted a couple years ago), so I have no idea who watches my playlists. But some of my playlists have several thousand views and it looks like this one is headed in that direction. I just hope I’m attracting a lot of potential new MLT fans.

A year and a half ago I was standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. I may never be there again, but it was worth the trip. (Hint hint, Mona and Lisa.)

I clicked the “quote” button to see what it does. Anyway, Michael, I spent the summer of ’74 in Fond du Lac. Growing up in California, it was my first experience with humidity, fireflies and legal drinking (I was 18 coming from a state where you had to be 21). -

Listening to this song made me think of The Byrds. I know MLT covered “Mr Tambourine Man”, but that was written by Bob Dylan, so I checked other Byrd songs I could remember to see which ones were written by the Byrds, but all the ones I remembered were covers. None of the songs they actually wrote were familiar to me. So, apparently ( wait for it ), ……………… I don’t know Byrds that well.

To everything mentioned so far, I’ll add “Johnny B. Goode”, “This Boy is Mine”, “Paint it Black”, “Revolution”, and “The Last Time”. Like “Day Tripper”, “The Last Time” really tests Lisa’s endurance and this is a live performance where you might expect mistakes. I didn’t catch any. On “Johnny B. Goode”, there’s a look she gives after the intro (13 seconds in) that reads: “That was so easy, I can’t believe I used to think it was hard”. Of course, they both make everything they play look easy.
I’ve been watching the view count on “Wish You Were Here” for the last few days. It’s been getting 2000 views per day, which will put it a 1M by the end of September if that pace continues. That’s six months. “Day Tripper” took six years. Let’s share it with everyone we know.

So far, few people want to admit to having a favorite Twin, but I’m going to just come out and say it: My favorite Twin is the one who plays all those groovy riffs and licks on the lead guitar… no wait, it’s the one who plays a mean harmonica while strumming a guitar and keeping time with her foot … no wait … oh hell, I can’t decide.

I ordered their two original albums last night and my order number was 100,005. Somebody out there was their 100,000th customer yesterday! Perhaps they got a free T-shirt.
