Hey, Kenny, I recently upgraded from a beginner’s Kala Soprano Ukulele to a Cordoba 20CM Concert. It was under $200 and so far I love it. I can play it for hours without re-tuning.

For several years, November has been Simon and Garfunkel month for my youngest son and me. Nothing but S&G for an entire month. Only Taylor Swift and the MonaLisa Twins have been able to break into that month. TS because of a new album release, MLT because they were still new to me last fall (I binged watched/listen to them for three months.

Further down the list is “Hotel California” with a V around 410. It passed 990,000 views yesterday on its slow climb to 1 million. It should hit that mark around the end of August. I’ve thought of asking the Twins to post that video on FaceBook just to see if it avoids the ban that YouTube has on it in the U.S.

Hey, Jeffery,
You forgot to mention Lisa’s awesome ukulele.

Jung, I’ve been watching the
views of Sound of Silence with much interest to see if it has the staying power
to make it to 1M in under 6 months like “Wish You Were Here” and “Please Mr.
Postman”. Although it had a rapid climb
to 150,000, it would need to average nearly 5,000 views per day to hit 1,000,000 by
Jan 11. Unfortunately, it appears to
have already dropped below this. It
seems to be following a similar growth rate as “Nowhere Man” which is at
438,000 after 5 months despite reaching 100,000 on its fifth day of release
(one day faster than “Sound of Silence). The good news is that number of MLT subscribers jumped about a thousand with the release of “Sound of Silence”. I’m still hoping they hit 200,000 by the end of the year although Social Blade doesn’t expect this to happen until March, 2022.

Member12/07/2021 at 15:30 in reply to: YouTube Milestones – Five to reach One Million soon“I’ll Follow the Sun” is the 18th MLT video to reach 1,000,000 YouTube views and I think it is safe to say that “Hotel California” will become the 19th video in late August or early September (currently at 978,500). The question is: which song will be number 20?
I indicated
back in April that it would likely be “Till there was You”, and that is still
most likely. Currently at 822,600 views,
it is on a pace to reach 1M in mid-January. However, I think the just released “Sound of
Music” could be another MLT video that reaches one million in less than six
months, which could let it squeak by “Till there was You” to become MLTs 20th
one Million view video. -

Member12/07/2021 at 03:51 in reply to: YouTube Milestones – Five to reach One Million soonCurious, JP, since I just clicked 999,860. In either case, I’m heading to bed early tonight (I’m in Central Daylight Time in the U.S.), so I will miss the big milestone. I’ll say something tomorrow about what to expect as the 19th and 20th MLT videos to reach 1,000,000 YouTube views.

Thank you, Lisa, for taking time to search you memory banks for this response. I knew the video was dubbed, but just out of curiosity I did a google search to see if it is possible to make an acoustic guitar sound like an electric guitar. It turns out it is possible, but you still would have needed electricity. You probably didn’t have that in the back of that old pickup truck.
I remember you (Lisa) saying something before about an instrument purchased from “Aldi” so I searched your site and found Angelo’s question from 2019 (before my time, but I spent a lot of time reading old posts late last year). Hotel California wasn’t mentioned but the guitar in question was. So thanks, Angelo, for your previous question and remembering that it was a Golden Tone.

I took the easy route and clicked on their “donate” button and gave them cash. Maybe when my grandkids are older and if they become fans, I’ll try the homemade approach.

Member22/06/2021 at 12:28 in reply to: YouTube Milestones – Five to reach One Million soonI was unaware of MLT a year ago when this song hit 4 million on June 26, 2020 (my thanks to Rick Twomey for that information). Drive my car made it to 4 million a day later. They have both added another million in less than a year. So, technically, the twins have four songs that have garnered a million views in under a year.

Member21/06/2021 at 20:13 in reply to: YouTube Milestones – Five to reach One Million soon“As My Guitar Gently Weeps” should reach 5,000,000 views on YouTube sometime in the next 10 to 15 hours.
“I’ll Follow the Sun is slowly creeping up on 1M views.
“Till There was You” just passed 800,000 as did “I’ll Be Back” (the latter was release 5 years earlier, however).
Meanwhile, “Drive My Car” is still pretty close to the pace it had when it went from 4M to 5M views (9 1/2 months). It could go from 4,000,000 to 6,000,000 in less then 20 months.

Thanks for pointing that out, David. Should happen this weekend.

Jeffery, it is not necessarily very complicated. I have Norton 360 as my security software. One of the features it provides is a “Secure VPN” which allows me to tell the internet I’m in Canada, not the U.S. It’s possible your virus software also has this feature. If not, I think there are ways to set up a Secure VPN independently (look it up on YouTube). Some websites won’t let you access them if you have Secure VPN turned on, but, so far, YouTube isn’t one of them.
