In case anyone is interested, “This Boy”, which the Twins mentioned today on their Advent Calendar, should reach 1.5 million views tomorrow (12/11)

Thank you, Joe, for starting this thread.

Twenty-five years ago I was listening to “Imagine” when I suddenly started crying. I believe it was the last time I cried for John until last year when I was in a theater watching the movie “Yesterday”. One of the most surreal and sad moments in the movie was seeing John alive and well near the age of 80.

I bought the Twins Christmas album a couple months ago when I was buying up everything they had produced. I listened to it once or twice than set it aside since it was too early. Now I’m playing it every day.
One of my favorite versions of “O Holy Night” is by BarlowGirl. You can find it on YouTube. I’d love to hear MLT come up with their own arrangement of this song involving some creative use of drums and electric guitar.

For the past week or so I‘ve been keeping track of view counts for several MLT YouTube videos. Based on the numbers I’ve seen, I have these predictions for next year:
San Francisco – 2M by early February
Drive My Car – 5M by early April (first video to reach this milestone)
Please Mr. Postman/Wipe Out – 1M by early May
Hotel California – 1M by early May**
I’ll Follow the Sun – 1M by mid May
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – 5M by mid May
Wish You Were Here – 2M by November
I will update these predictions at the end of the year, but I suspect the release of new original videos early next year could change things.
** Because this video is banned in the U.S., it has lagged behind San Francisco. But as more of us Americans learn about Secure VPN, I’m hoping the view count dramatically increases (Norton 360 makes it real easy to change my region- and it amuses me to get Canadian commercials). It would already be well over 1M if not for the ban.
If there’s a video you’ve been watching or want me to watch, let me know.
I’ve also been watching the total YouTube views and subscribers for their channel and I’ll have some predictions regarding those at the end of the year.

I received my package the day “Please Mr Postman” hit 100,000 views. I bought the new poster along with the CD, so here’s what the package looked like:

I didn’t join the party until August when “Wish You Were Here” was already approaching 1M views. Does anyone know how fast that hit 100,000 views?
-
JP, I was surprised I got that close. It had been jumping 7 or 8 per refresh, so I was expecting to see 2000004 or 2000005.

This screen shot is from Friday. The current count is 1,902,000 which would indicate that it will probably be another 3 months before “San Francisco” reaches 2M.

-
And there it is

-
Next view will be over 2M

Yep, Refugio, in fact it should be by 2100 (GMT)

Thanks Rick. I actually thought it was today, but the way Social Blade jumped up by 1000 made it look like it was the week of Oct 26 to Nov 2. In other news, “I Saw Her Standing There” passed 1,990,000 views yesterday. I’ll probably continue the countdown (up) to 2M in my “If I Fell” thread.
It might interest the Twins (if they ever look back at these threads) to know that I did an informal check and found that several of their Beatles’ covers are the most viewed covers of those songs on YouTube. In fact, the only version of “Drive My Car” with more views is the Beatle’s remastered version. Paul McCartney’s live version is third. “If I fell” is third behind two Beatles’ versions.
