@howard
Mona said she accidentally deleted it while trying to edit that reply.
It should be back on by now 🙂 -
See what you mean. It was something completely different, hahaha.
Yes, the standard search function of this forum is not state of the art.
It is on my list. The challenge is to find a good search plugin that doesn’t slow down the site further and is forum specific. But we’ll get there somehow 😉 -
Hi Howard,
I tried what you said, putting in “Indigo Girls vs. MonaLisa Twins” and results were coming up.
So, that seems to work.
Then I thought maybe you have used the site search for a forum search.
In that case it is clear that nothing came up because the standard site search doesn’t include the forum. Otherwise lots of restricted pages would get shown for non MLT Club members.
Did you use the search function in the forum?

1 and 2 are for forum search.
Or did you use this?
I found that in some forum topics a wrong sidebar was showing up:
This is the Site Search. If you have used this no results from the forum would show up.
So it seems we have to fix the problem that a wrong sidebar sometimes appears in the forum and to make clear what a specific search field is meant for. Forum for forum content only and Site search for everything else except forum content.Does that address your issue or did you maybe mean something completely different (… the old Monty Python Joke, I know …) 😉

Administrator04/11/2018 at 21:38 in reply to: login issues and mobile phone menu displayI looked up the exact numbers and that’s what I found:
The default WordPress behavior for logging a user out is to make a login session cookie that expires in 48 hours or when the browser is closed. If the “Remember Me” box is checked, WordPress will give you 14 days before forcing you to authenticate again.
Our site runs on WordPress like around 30% of all other sites on the Internet.

Administrator03/11/2018 at 19:28 in reply to: login issues and mobile phone menu displayVery valuable data that help me to ask the software developers more intelligent questions than just “Doesn’t work”. It seems to be not so much browser related and maybe time related like a log-out after a certain time.
If anyone can reproduce the error every time, please tell me.

Hello,
Just a short note from my side (We will answer all the other questions above regarding the membership shortly in a more detailed way to provide a good Q&A resource).
Tonight we tried to roll out a huge update for your membership profiles to vastly improve the “My Account” part of our website. We were very enthusiastic about the look and feel and the opportunities it will provide for club members but had to discover that it would cause a security/privacy problem that needs to be resolved first.
It also looks like there’s an issue regarding the profile photos. The new implementation uses a different system for storing and showing profile images that is not compatible with the former plugin. Your Facebook or Gravatar profile photos should work all the time (if you are logged in to Facebook) but uploaded images did not show up anymore. You may have experienced these troubles tonight.
We now rolled back everything, trying to fix the problems on our test site and hopefully come out soon with a shiny new user interface 🙂

Administrator01/11/2018 at 00:49 in reply to: login issues and mobile phone menu displayThanks for telling me and thanks for helping others to find workarounds.
1. The problem with the menu on mobile displays is a problem of our WordPress theme. It is not a free but a premium theme so they should get it working. They are normally very fast at fixing things but this seems to be a bit harder to fully repair because every solution they offered so far caused other bigger problems. Our support ticket is already massive but I still hope they can get it done.
2. The main problem with the failed login is that we cannot reproduce it on our side. It is probably a caching problem. Our Web host will try a few things over the next days and asked me to report if the problem still exists. It would be very helpful if you could report back to tell me yes or no and maybe you could also find out some circumstances surrounding the problem. e.g. only on Android mobile phone with Google Chrome browser.

Administrator31/10/2018 at 06:22 in reply to: Jump to the bottom button, or truncate to pages suggestionHi Jung,
You seem to be faster than I can answer ;-). We also thought back and forth about reversing the order of replies so to have the newest replies on top but then we decided against it because for new people it would be hard to read and it would also be a bit unusual for this kind of forum.
We are now close to releasing a rather big update of the user interface with some features that make organizing your online presence a better experience. It’s not really easy to implement because so many aspects have to be taken into account not to break the site while updating but we hope we can make it within the next days.

Sorry Tom,
we prepare some rather big updates in the background that might affect things like not showing images or strange formatting of text or colors. We thought it’s better to take in account some minor hiccups than closing down the whole site for a few hours. After the update things like that should work again and I hope you will find the improvements worth the trouble.Maybe we can find a quick fix in the meantime. Did you upload a profile picture, do you use Gravatar or did you expect to see your Facebook profile picture?
-
Sorry for any inconvenience you might experience. It probably has to do with a rather big upgrade we are working on which will come out within the next few days (fingers crossed). It has to do with the way things are organised on our website and will hopefully improve the user experience a lot. I had hoped to get that done without any disturbances.
We had the choice between closing down the site for maintenance for a few days until the new features are implemented or to just roll it out in the backend without any noticeable performance issues. I hope that once you see the new features you will agree they were worth the hiccups.

Hello fellow bass player (we’re often underrated but still needed ;-)). Hope you will enjoy it here. It’s good to see the younger generation still interested in this kind of music.
-
Hahaha …you are very welcome! The 3 Gifs above alone were worth it.

Administrator20/10/2018 at 16:34 in reply to: Notify me of follow-up replies via emailThanks, it was just a small fix (like most of the time) changing to another mail delivery method that plays well with the forum software. Thanks for making us aware of the problem. We wouldn’t have easily noticed because we as admins got our notifications.

See, that’s the kind of jokes behind ones back one always has to deal with!
It’s not easy to deliver some decent and serious work getting sabotaged all the time.
Thanks Kevin for this disclosure and maybe you can find even more of these insidious acts of virtual vandalism.
It’s not easy, it’s not easy, it’s not … -
Great ears, Tim. Yes, we did some re-mixing. Especially on the tracks you mentioned. Mixing for YouTube videos is a slightly different approach than for CD or high quality online streaming. The CD’s are less compressed with more dynamics. Proud to have such keen listeners that appreciate the difference …
