i think i am around 25000.
I am planning on making it to thirty.
And then – at thirty – i will be too old to Rock-n-Roll but too young to die. Let’s hope.

Juergen, thanks for sharing the Tim Burton video. I never knew much about Tim Burton.
Before things get back to normal – a scene from Young Frankenstein.

Juergen i really enjoy the italian translation.
We are really working on a linguist’s tour of Europe. No le parece?
Was Rocky Horror big over there? Wasn’t Susan Sarandon pretty?
Here is a classic to lighten the mood. Happy Halloween to all !

There are two or three forums where i drop in one or twice a year and catch up.
Give it some thought. Don’t be a stranger.

Juergen, that keyboard player is singing in the video “PUR -Lena” you provided above.
Ramstein has been over here – like you say. You learn about Ramstein from your friends kids. They make our heavy metal seem like our Lawrence Welk, or Schlager. So i have heard … “Other bands cook, Ramstein burns” !
I really could do without Cooper or Manson as well. But Let me check out this video.
Tri-lingual Switzerland: I spent a month in Lausanne taking French classes half-day. I rode around the train a lot. I distinctly recall the announcement(s) approaching the airport. “Next stop – Geneva airport. … Prochaine arrete – Geneve aeroport … Nachster halt – Genff flughaven”. Not much Italian around Geneva. Go figure.

Well one more thing.
As a small departure from Schlagermusik, i wonder how Rammstein is doing?
-
Jurgen, did i read you correctly?
Céline Dion competed for Switzerland in 1988. !?!
“La marraine du Canada” ? Pour la suisse? Fur der schweiz ?
Jung, Jacki – are you getting this ?
I have her Live a Paris CD, plus her collaboration with her buddy JJG.
I wonder if Celine and Jean-Jacques Goldman are well known in Germany.
I meant to say before that it looks like the keyboard player for Wolkenfrei is in a new band. I guess he wanted to sing.
But when all is said and done …
Mein herz nein schlact schlager. Mein herz schlact Rock-n-Roll.

How hard was it to leave home at the age of twenty?
Is there an equivalent to the G.E.D. in the UK or Europe?
Have they ever thought of taking the exam(s) for the H.S. diploma?

Dear Diana,
i still miss Roger Miller.
He was great friends with Ray Stevens who is still kicking around Nashville.
I think i have his greatest hits album around here somewhere.
I don’t think he was fully appreciated.
Country music was a crowded field even back then.
It just goes to show that You can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd.
Please forgive me.

Jurgen,
Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert & Robert Heinlein should take notes from you.
I wonder if any of them ever experimented with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
-
Jurgen, the singer in the PUR is the guitarist fro VolkeFrei.
I guesss he wanted to do something else.

Jurgen
i spent a month in Costa Rica the 1st time.
I agree about Schlager. it’s warm and fuzzy like cotton candy, but not much depth. The ultimate schlager song might be Wolke sieben by Mai. The title and video says it all.
We say seventh heaven or cloud nine. But i get the idea. Come to think of it Wolkefrei – cloudfree – is a very schlager group name.
One girl from der Schweiz, one from Osterreich and one from Deutschland is heart-warming. Yes they are eye-candy. Part of the appeal
Schlager started showing up in my youtube thumbnails during this thread.
My favorite i think is worth listening to. here you go.

I am really not a bookworm.
And my tastes are eclectic. No specific genre.
I am partly through Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series.
“Hitchhiker’s Guide” came up recently in another discussion thread.
It’s been on my list since college.
It is now in my shopping cart at B&N. I should get to it this winter.
Thanks
