I’m in the Mid-Hudson valley of N.Y., about halfway between NYC and Albany. Poughkeepsie.

Back in my drumming days (the 70’s to mid 80’s) I could have used an SUV, I stuffed a huge drum set into a green 65 Buick Regal! 22″ bass drum, 8 concert toms, a snare, 18″ floor tom and umpteen cymbals. What a PITA loading and unloading those!

My roots are of course Beatles and all 60’s and 70’s rock for the most part with some 50’s thrown in on the side. I was a jeans and t-shirt guy as well, nothing ever fancy. I never liked dressing up, I just never felt comfortable. Seeing me in a suit is as rare as hen’s teeth!

” I tended to avoid the fads back then……..never had a leisure suit, a pet rock, never went to a disco…..always had on blue jeans and a t-shirt in summer and in the winter the shirt would have been a flannel shirt. Till next time. ”

    Hi Mike,

You sound like me! Good for you! I never followed the fads, trends, etc. I never cared what was “Cool” or “hip”. When the rock clubs all turned to discos that was the end of my nights out unless a major band I liked was playing our civic center or the one rock club that stayed true to itself.

To this day I have never been in a Starbucks. I’ve never owned an SUV.

“I am, I’m me” as the song says!

60’s and 70’s TV were my favorites! Still are! I had so many crushes growing up as a kid, Caroline Ellis “Joy” from the Bugaloos, Dawn Wells from Gilligan’s Island, Ellie May from the Beverly Hillbillies, Barbara Eden, Mary Tyler Moore, the list goes on and on! LOL! Great comedy back then and great crime dramas like the Rockford Files, Mannix, etc. variety shows too!  I miss those days of TV.

Yup the 60’s is still my favorite decade of all! So glad I grew up during it. I can listen to that stuff all day, every day. Look at all those great songs! Did any of you ever get the Time-Life 60’s collection? I love it. There’s also the “Super sounds of the 70’s” collection from Rhino which is pretty good (except for the disco stuff, ICK!).

I totally agree! Karen Carpenter to me is the greatest female vocalist of all time. Talk about RANGE! I had such a crush on her growing up and was devastated when she died. And there are a number of amazing female singers! Dusty Springfield, Judith Durham, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar for examples. I’m a rock & roll guy but LOVE her voice so much.

Youtube is getting really nasty with their censorship the past year or so. A lot of people (youtube video creators) are mad about it. MLT should make sure they let people know about the other video sites they publish on so we don’t miss it. Sometimes we might miss a site in our internet travels.

I would think here at the club is the best place to catch all MLT stuff but not every fan is here.

    Groove on!

The absolute best tribute Beatles guy so far to me has been JAVIER PARISI on Youtube. You’ll do a double take when you see him if you haven’t already. And there are some good Beatles tribute acts out there.

I feel your pain Jung. I finally got mine cut after 7 months! Although my hair is short now and slowly leaving me! My head feels 10 pounds lighter! For you British folk that’s about 0.714286 stone! LOL!

Back in the day (70’s) we had a local husband/wife run store called “Record city”. They carried a HUGE selection of stuff, including bootleg albums. Another store was “Teepeedashery”. There was also a chain called “Record world”.  I bought most of my stuff at Record City. I was a regular there. I was also in the Columbia house record club for a while. You remember them right? 10 albums for a penny!

He hasn’t aged in many years! As sick as he was as a boy he’s done quite alright for himself health wise ever since. Good to see him still kicking about!

Nice! They must be using random stickers, I got a heart shaped one with their likeness! I love those little surprises they throw in, very thoughtful of them and appreciated! Enjoy Jung!

Yes indeed the ladies do this song proud! What a GREAT version! The falsettos are PERFECTION! Maybe my favorite on the album (which by the way I just got in the mail today! Thanks girls!). Another fave is “Tonight you belong to me”. I love their version of it! The whole CD is SO good!

I noticed that as well Howard. I don’t use facebook but I occasionally checked their page here in the club. Maybe they just thought it was redundant.
