He pretty much hit the nail right on the head with his comparisons. While I was never a really big Beach Boys fan I did like some of their music. Brian Wilson was and probably still is a legendary musical genius. Just like Paul & John.

Here’s one that immediately comes to my mind, Karn Evil 9 1st Impression from Emerson, Lake & Palmer. My all time favorite Keyboard player and one of my all time favorite drummers. And Greg Lake playing his amazing bass and his vocals are superb! Sadly Keith and Greg are no longer with us…

Member30/04/2022 at 23:59 in reply to: When you are sad, do you prefer happy or sad songs? When I’m sad I don’t listen to any music. I’m just not in the mood at that point. I get real quiet and I just read. I read a lot anyway (non fiction only) but it’s how I escape that mood.

Yes their harmonies sometimes send chills down my spine! My favorite song on Orange is “That’s life”, I just love that tune and the video for it as well. It really helped me get through some health issues back when it first came out. It cheered me up to no end!

Hey Bill CONGRATS! You’re going to LOVE retirement! I’ll be retired 9 years in about 3 weeks already, it goes VERY FAST! Too fast. It sure is nice not having to rush around in the morning getting ready for another day on the old rock pile. More time for YOU now! YOU are now the boss! Congrats again!

Member06/04/2022 at 23:57 in reply to: Group or artist that had a profound impact on youFor me growing up in the 60’s into the 70’s the influences were The Beatles, Carpenters, Frank Zappa, CCR, The Rascals, J. Geils band, original Alice Cooper band, early Kiss, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Good Rats, ELP just to name a few. I’m not a fan of 80’s and 90’s stuff, although there were a few decent songs here and there. Mona and Lisa’s work is really the only new stuff I can stomach. Most of the time I’m listening to the above mentioned groups and some others of those eras.

Number one in 1977 “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” by Rod Stewart.

I’ve always wanted to visit the U.K., especially Liverpool but alas at my age and health I don’t see it happening. Unless they play in N.Y. nearby I’ll probably never get to see these lovely girls live. One thing they COULD do is stream their shows live once they start playing out again. IF they ever do that is. I should have went over in my younger days but hindsight is 20/20 of course.
If you ever get over there Tim give them a hug for me.

Happy Birthday Bill! I’m right behind you, I’ll be 64 on May 4th. Although parts of me feel 90. Hope you had a great day!

Happy Birthday indeed to Papa Rudi! Thanks for joining in the last Q&A video too! Always great to see him and Michaela!

I’m with Mona regarding solos, I don’t like them either. I played for years and refused to do them. Ringo by the way never liked them either. Waste of time IMHO. Not a fan of long guitar solos either. I guess they are done to give other members of the band a break but I say FORGET THAT! Play another song or two instead!

Got to love the Seekers! Here’s my favorite from them, what a voice Judith has! Oh and on St. Patrick day I change my name to Paddy O’ Furniture. 😉
