Strawberry Fields Forever – An Old Recording – Duo Session
Let us take you down …
… ’cause we’re going to take you on a trip down memory lane. Through Strawberry Fields, of all places!
Let’s quickly go back to the beginning of this story. Most of you probably know our versions of In My Life and Blackbird. You might have seen the videos for them on YouTube. We recorded the music in 2009, right before we went on our first ever trip to Liverpool, the city that would much later become our home ♥
Being the crazy young Beatles fans that we were, we soaked in everything we could about the city and also shot some music videos there. When we returned back home to Austria we released the finished videos for In My Life and Blackbird.
Now, what you don’t know is that we recorded a couple more songs for that same project that never made it on the internet or any albums. Life happened, things got in the way and other projects came up. We never got around to do a video for this song. But we still have the audio!
So as a MLT Club exclusive … here is a rough mix of a super old recording of “Strawberry Fields Forever”!
A fun blast from the past, that we ourselves have not heard in years, not until we dug it up last week.

We were only 15 years old at the time and you can definitely hear that in our voices. MLT Babies :-)We hope you enjoy! And that you all have a groovy today!
And nothing to get hung about …
Mona & Lisa
I love to hear your cover when you were only 15 years old, it is so cute to hear your voices. And I love the end of the song. Nice surprise, beautiful. You should put it on the next Duo Sessions. Un gros Merci.
What a fantastic cover! You two sounded so beautiful. If my romance novel ever gets published and some movie company wants to make it to a movie, then I will ask them to have you two do the soundtrack like Simon and Garfunkel did for The Graduate. Your 1960s like music is so beautiful and that is what is missing today.
This is a beautiful performance. I bet if you posted this on YouTube with just the picture above… it would still get a million views. Thanks for sharing this with us. Everyone should get the chance to hear it.
Ages in our band ranged from 17 to 19 years old and I don’t think our version was as good as the MonaLisa version at 15 years old. This should be on YouTube for everyone to hear with a video or even just a photo! Fantastic!⭐
15 years old. Absolutely lovely!! Nothing to get hung about … Wow
Wow! After you release your next original album and decide to put together Duo Sessions Vol. 2, I’d seriously consider adding this one, just as it is, to “Vincent”, “Junk”, “Stuck in the Middle…”, etc. It totally deserves a place where it can be readily heard by and shared with others! SUBLIME!
I think you are a bit hard on your 15 year old selves, as it’s a lovely rendition. Of course we are so used to the amazing drums and orchestrations on the original but this reflects John’s demos (as others have said) so is a valid and excellent version and great that you are able to share it with us.
very cool.
“No one, I think, is my tree.
I mean it must be high or low.
that is you cant, you know
tune in but it’s all right.
That is, I think it’s not too bad.”
That verse was done so nicely…wonderful!
You guys still sounded really good for that age and Melvin is right, a little cello would really do it justice. I did not sound that good when I was that age. I was with other guys sitting with an LP trying to pick up chords and sometimes Lyrics because we did not have anything unless some other band would give us the chords. Your voices really changed!!
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay Groovy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like John Lennon’s original home demo, as found on the Anthology. Lisa, you could enhance this with some cello?
Love this! Fab!
Hmmm…it’s like you’re building your very own Anthology! Very well done.
Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
Love It!!
Beautiful. I wondered if this would work without tape loops and orchestration, and you showed it can. I always imagined that Lennon was speaking through the voice of a younger self, or a resident of the childrens’ home, but would still love to hear you do another version
LOVE it…THanks so much.xx
Wow! That’s fantastic for any age! Fifteen, I was just beginning to play with my first band. I wasn’t half as good as I thought I was at that age. How did you feel? Were you insecure? You sound like professionals. That was awesome. I love it – so beautiful. SOoooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I love it your voices go well together it works slowing the song down. Well done
Being saved for “Volume 4”?
The voices e guitars are prefects.. amazing cover…your baby voices are like a dream. I loved.
DEFINITELY worth the price of admission!!! Thank you, ladies!!!
Beautiful and lovely cover of one of my favorite Lennon songs.
This is the most dreamy and beautiful cover of a Lennon classic. The young ladies produce such a heavenly harmonic fusion of their voices, and the simple accompaniment of the acoustic guitars is too perfect. I haven’t missed a day to get the happy and peaceful feeling this song gives me. Thanks Mona and Lisa!
I didn’t think this song could be done without special effects, but it sounds great with just your voices and guitars.
I love it!!
If that’s a rough mix, then a good mix would be……what’s beyond excellent??? Also, is it bad that I played the drum part in my head while you sang this one???
It’s a beautiful version, but I think if it was recorded now would be a very different version. Your voices and the way you sing have changed. I imagine it with your drawing in a psychedelic video, style Alvaro Ortega (see What is Life, George, and others).
As a newer fan of your music, I enjoy hearing your earlier music and interviews to learn about your journey to where you are today. Thank you for sharing.
Truly a beautiful version, just love it.
This is such a lovely version. Nothing to get hung about, after listening to this sweet, sweet interpretation (“interpretation” doesn’t seem to be the right word, seems more than that).
Is it Mona on the lead and Lisa on the high harmony?
Thank you!!
Beautiful song as usual. I love hearing the earlier songs and the already incredible talent. The skills you had at 15 were impressive. Your voices, performance and professionalism now are amazing. Thank you for the gift you give us all.
Sounds great.
Thankyou for uploading this for us members! Given you recorde it so long ago, it has been hidden away for far too long! A fantastic rendition of an iconic song.
I have always liked this song. An extra special treat!! Thank you so much!
Yes you may have been MLT babies at the time, but you can definitely hear the brilliance to come. So enjoyed the trip down memory lane, thru the Strawberries ladies
That was beautiful! I would love to see the video. Great job ??
How sweet the sound. I just love your version of this song. Such an easy going mood you set. So well done, everything you sing turns to gold. Awesome way to start the morning hearing this. Thanks!
OMG Mona and Lisa!
I am in awe of your musical talent and harmonies – your voices compliment each other like John and Paul’s did! And I loved the little Austrian accents barely perceptible…
You ladies have been amazing for a long time and still getting better!
Best and groovy blessings!
Love the simplicity in this little gem. As has already been said the younger voices and harmonies are evident, and personally I think this adds a beautiful twist to what is a beautiful song. Love it.
Thank you for sharing this delightful gem with us. It’s little treats like this that make being a member of the MLT Club so special. Baby MLT maybe, but still exquisite and adorable as always. An acoustic video performance would be the icing on the cake.
I loved this early acoustic version with your exquisite harmony. There is a wonderful sublime touch to this that is thoroughly engaging with no crazy production effects at all. Its really amazing and absolutely beautiful. Could you please video a duo session of this for the Club? I would love to see you sing it “live”. It really is beautiful!
Those MLT Babies looked and sounded great at 15. Wow! You should see them now! ?
Your ” MLT baby voices ” are perfect in this song.. I loved it.???? you’re stunning in this pic.
Ahhhhhhhh…..that great MLT sound, and those precious harmonies! Might we have some more, please? ? Roger
Whoa…!!!! Quite a gem to have revealed to us all on here…. Age and vocal maturity does not matter… It’s evident here that the gifted vocals are already established and you’ve captured the essences of this song as beautifully as the original, Thankyou for offering up this keeper of a gem…. I still would love to have you record both “Paper Back Writer” & ” Long and Winding Road”…. Those two are screaming out for the MLT Midas Touch…. That would would be a dream recording wish for me for you to Conquer those perhaps in the future…
Mayhap a trip into the studio with the experience you’ve gained and polishing up this beautiful apple?
Those famous Twins harmonies! Love it! Awesome! Thanks for sharing this!
