They say it’s our birthday!
We turned 29 last week and so far we are liking the age. Life is pretty great right now! 🙂
The big 3.0. is inching closer now but we’re ready. 😉
Recently quite a few parcels have been arriving at our doorstep, and just like we have done over the last few years, we thought we’d open your generous birthday gifts and cards on video while having a little bit of a catch-up and a laugh with you all.
We cannot thank you all enough, those who have sent us something in the mail as well as all of you who have sent us Birthday wishes here in the MLT Cub and on the several social media platforms. And those that are here, watching our videos and enjoying the music ♥ We felt the love and send it all straight back to you all.

The editing magic was a great idea. I was totally on the edge of my seat watching you fling those knives around. I know the letter opener doesn’t cut through packing tape, but Yikes!
Wow, you got some great gifts. You deserve to be spoiled. You have gathered some of the nicest people on the planet and we all came here for the same reason. You bring so much light to the world, that It seems everyone in the MLT family wants to express how much we appreciate all you do. It’s funny how life works that way. Remember, you feed the flowers in our heart. This community is a reflection of you.
Think of it as you have hundreds of aunts and uncles that are ready to spoil you to death. Wait, that sounds like a death wish. How about spoil you in abundance?
We were just joking at the thought of you two “taking a break”, put in your earbuds, sunglasses down, gorging on vinyl and sweet treats. New music is a great excuse to lie back and pig out. Although, I think you approach snacking with wise moderation. Now that brings a question to mind. Which of you has more will power? Or expand that to the four of you. Who can resist that sweet chocolatey-peanut butter aroma the most? You are so right. Frozen Reese’s are the best. Read that again real slow. Who can resist that sweet chocolatey-peanut butter treat? (Insert diabolical laughter)

Johnny I thank you for sending the letter openers. I have anxiety attacks watching knives and razor blades flashing around those talented fingers and hands.
Kevlar gloves should be next.
Hi Tim, you get it. 🤓 I’d hate to see what would happen if they had scissors. That is so funny. I am sure if you watched me wield my favorite razor to open a parcel, it would be just as nerve racking or more.

Hey didn’t you guys see the Bush Craft course Mona and Lisa took. I am sure they know how to handle themselves with knives safely. The red and yellow swiss army knives I sent them have safety locks on the blades to prevent the blade from accidentally folding when opened. The wooden handled one not, more for traveling with and outdoors given locking blades are prohibited in public places but legal in homes and private property in the UK. Lesson learned for me when I was a teenager with a pocket knife that folded on me giving me a bad cut. Ever since then, only locking blade swiss army knives. I love their DIY MacGyver spirit.
Thank you Mona and Lisa for sharing with us! Wow such lovely gifts and cards, we all love and support you both! Hopefully our gift from me and Maddie arrives soon. We was a bit late this year. I hope you enjoy some beautiful sunny days this summer and great times outdoors. You both looked so awesome in cool shades in some of your past outdoor photos, and also in the Questionable video, that gave me the idea for a gift this birthday.

This was fun to watch! Two beautiful girls opening birthday gifts and the expressions were priceless. Very cool how you guys could say “Boom” and suddenly the package was open. Great idea. Mona said it best a few weeks ago, “the power of editing” and it’s magical. Again, Happy Birthday to you both and Please, Please say Happy Birthday to Michaela and give her (the Boss) a big hug from all of us. When the Boss is happy, everybody’s happy.

Happy belated birthday to ya’ll. The T-shirt with the Skull image (Calaveras) is part of the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead) which honors dead family members. Un ano nuevo para ti (a new year for you). So much for the cultural trivia. You guys will love Jim Croce. Unfortunately,he died way to soon. I hope you guys will do a what’s on the table on him.
Yes Joe, I agree Jim Croce died way too young. He had many good songs. I read that he had a photograph memory and could play over 2,000 songs.
I met his son, A.J. Croce (who was less than 2 when his dad died). He’s about 51 now. He also sings and plays piano. If you haven’t heard him, check him out.

Hi Joe, The Midnight Special is uploading full show videos on YouTube as well as a lot of individual clips. Some real good quality videos of Jim Croce. I get a tear in my eye watching them now, even Bad Leroy Brown. Jim died way too soon.

This was so much fun to watch! I turn 65 on July 25, so words from the wise, 30 is groovy. Don’t eat all that chocolate all at once…
That was loads of fun. Loved the musical cards and little instruments.
That was a ton-o-fun as always! I particularly liked the musical 🪗 and 🎸cards! I feel like I gotta clarify a few things tho. The card for “A Great Guy” was intended for Rudi, as was the Cat Stevens single, which also included “Sad Lisa” on the b side. Very belated, but I hope the card makes it to him ok. The Boots Randolph vinyls were intended for saxophonist extraordinaire Michaela, as I hoped she enjoys listening to great sax music as well as playing it. Their respective cards were lightly taped to their gifts when they left Illinois, but who knows where they were upon arrival. No worries, tho! Perfectly understandable considering all the awesome gifts you needed to get thru fairly quickly. Just goes to show how loved you are for all you do for us, and for being such AMAZING human beings!

No worries, dear! I could tell the “Boots” vinyls puzzled you a bit! Jim Croce is another of my all-time faves. I think you’ll really like his stuff! Don’t worry about the ocarina. I disinfected it quite well but never completely got rid of the musty smell inside before I sent it. I’m sure it’s safe to try out, especially if you give the mouthpiece an alcohol wipe first. They’re also known as “sweet potato flutes” btw. Take care, and bless all four of you!
I’m stunned that Mona and Lisa apparently aren’t familiar with Jim Croce! I’ve long pictured them doing a duo session of Time in a Bottle; I think that song perfectly matches their musical sensibilities.

I agree, David, but they’d be awesome doing many of his songs! Also “Operator”, “I’ve Got a Name”, etc. Even the fun ones like “Roller Derby Queen”, “Car Wash Blues”, etc.

But I did spend 2 days going around picking things out for you. Tomorrow I’m going to Mount Rainier to the Paradise Gift Shop to get the final things. It’s a 200 mile round trip, almost 3 hours each way, BUT this is a great excuse to go there, which I love to do! (Maybe it will be nice getting some late presents, thereby extending your birthdays!) Thank you Lisa, A lot of younger people don’t know about Jim Croce but most of us old farts do. He worked very hard to make a living with his music and when he finally made it he died in a plane crash. I think you will really like his music.

I searched for that poll on the gifts you received but darned if I can find it so here’s my $.02:
Again, they are your gifts to do with as you please. If you feel like sharing or announcing them, fair play to you always. I’m sure that the senders would love recognition, but we would all understand that in your busy lives you can’t respond to everything personally or even via social media or here on the club pages.
Shoot, I could spend a month directly conversing with and listening to you and still not get all the input and answers to the questions I have, and that includes Papa Rudi and Michaela too. Short answer: every one of us here loves you, just follow your hearts and it’s all good!

Just to clarify, I sent both Maria Muldaur lps. I had to get them from different places which is why they were sent separately. I remember in your interview with John Sebastian that he mentioned that Maria was a good friend which is why I selected those albums. I have both of them and I think they are great. It is easy for me to imagine you covering many of her songs with your special touch. I hope you enjoy them. Carole King was my fallback album in case you didn’t fancy Maria’s. And of course the peanut butter cups.
I thought all the gifts you opened were great. And I liked the musical cards too.

I did not realize that you were opening a package that I sent back in April.
It was not really intended to be a BD gift, but its okay, it worked out fine.
Also, I included little notes with the dvds & cd, explaining some things (if you didn’t toss them out? If you did, it’s okay, I know I talk a lot).
Mona said that she thinks they showed the Commitments film back in Primary School. Gee, I hope not lol. It’s rated R and there is some vulgarity in it (maybe they edited it for the younger crowd? I dunno?).

Gobsmacked at all the gifts/cards that were sent, shown on here, That’s Birthday Love …. The musical Bday Jam session was cute, you can play anywhere, on anything and it sounds fab ….lol…. nothing that you can’t !!
I had Birthday Sung serenaded you and sent a Bday Drawing for/to you over on Instagram in a PM… Hope I didn’t break the sound barrier ….lol
