Day 7 – Should the Christmas Livestream be public?

Please chime in!

We started to discuss this in yesterday’s Livestream but today is the official vote. Whatever the majority of you decide is what we will go with. The question is whether or not to open up the final Advent Calendar Livestream on the 23rd of December to the general public.

If we do, our entire YouTube audience will be able to join, you could invite your friends and family and the Livestream would be watched by many more people. It will help us reach more people and a bigger audience and some might even join the MLT Club after.

On the flip side, it will make the experience less exclusive and intimate, the live chat will be more crowded and it will be harder for us to focus on individual people in the chat or give as many of you a shout-out.

There are arguments for both (we are sure you can think of a lot more) but fundamentally we want to leave it up to you. The idea of the MLT Club Advent Calendar has always been to give back to the beautiful community here in the Club so we want to honour whatever you guys want.

It’s without question that the weekly Livestreams leading up to Christmas (every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) will stay Club-exclusive. This decision only affects the final Livestream on December 23rd when we will play live music!

Let us know … (your vote is anonymous)

Feel free to elaborate in the comments, too! 🙂

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. It probably won’t matter much, but if some people unfamiliar with you two heard of the livestream and watched it, you might gain some new fans.

  2. I really doubt if there will be a significant increase in viewers for a Livestream this close to Christmas. Even if you start advertising today, most people already have plans made with families and travelling. I think it would be easier to get more viewers in say January when there isn’t much else happening. Football season in America really heats up in January and most games are on Sunday so may be best to avoid that. It would give you more time to plan, practice and advertise and more time for us to help spread the word. Good luck with your decision.

  3. Howdy,
It is nice to have an intimate livestream with our dedicated members. To admit “outsiders” may dilute the experience and negatively impact the occasion.
As the club grows, in the future, we may have many more members who participate and that would be great.
As some other members suggested, replay it later for anyone who wants to see it and see what they are missing.
Also, I don’t know if any “give-a-ways” are going to be planned for the 23rd Livestream. How would that work with non-members?
Naturally, the decision is up to Mona & Lisa and Michaela & Rudi.
We love you all, so whatever is decided we will support you.
    Thank, take care,
    Bobby S.

  4. I considered the view that opening the final livestream might not attract new MLTClub members. But, I say let see what happens. I’d like to see the Club grow, if only for the selfish reason that I want the new music, videos and fun to keep growing.

  5. Christmas is all about giving. What could be better than sharing the joy of MLT music with the whole world. Peace and love. Stay groovy!

  6. Go for it girls. I suspect that the fact this subject has been raised in the first place means that you personally want to open up the livestream, but are being polite by asking the members first for their agreement via this poll.
Essentially MLT are running a business and to grow a business and survive long term, opportunities have to be taken and I see opening up the livestream as just that. There are of course risks but I think they are worth taking given the potential exposure to a wider audience.
I get and respect both sides of the argument but by the 23rd we as members will have had 22 days of something exclusive from the twins including numerous livestreams, so do not see the final one being made available to all as being an issue.

  7. I would say keep it to Club Members for the livestream and then drop it to the public 24 hours later. Realistically I don’t think you’ll get that many more viewers if the livestream is public, the 23rd is going to be a busy time for a lot of people with last minute shopping and travel.

  8. Not sure what you mean by let everybody join in: really everybody or only the people who already receive the newsletter. I do not mind, you can try to do this once and see what happens.

  9. It’s funny, but I tend to agree with the arguments on both sides. I’m slightly in favor of going public. My main reason being that I want MLT to be heard around the world.

  10. Well, what an interesting debate this is with lots of valid and varied opinions/suggestions. But what I like is how polite, respectful and sensitive the views are. What a lovely club this is.

  11. As much as I would love to keep the Dec. 23rd Livestream exclusive to MLT Club members,I want to see them get the recognition they so richly deserve(and hopefully many more club members). I have been spreading the word among family and friends since I discovered them.
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy New Year! to All my fellow MLT CLUB members. This is Truly the HAPPIEST PLACE on the Planet.

Thank You Mona,Lisa,Papa Rudi, and Michaela for all you do for us.
Wishing you all the Merriest of Christmases and a Happy,Healthy,Fun,and Adventure filled 2024!! Can’t wait for what you all have in store for us in the coming year.
    💛 💗 🎅 🤶 😘 😘 ☃ ☃
    Love and Hugs Always!

  12. Forgot to add before I posted ….
I’m liking the notion/consideration of making it public afterwards as it’s been suggested here by many 🤘🏻

  13. While I’m in favor of keeping it exclusively for to MLT Clubbers only …but yet I can see validation of having it made public ….

But…. my concern with having it become public, in light of recent Facebook shenanigans, and possibly YouTube or new Faccook Shenanigans perhaps occurring because it could potentially welcome unwanted grief again…. but with same token, it could be a key thing in brininging more awareness of the MLT Existence to a broader global audience …. Go With Gut Instincts, Catch 22 kinda-Damned If Do/Not
Thing …. That’s my 2 cents worth perspective ….. I just don’t want a repeat/encore of the FiascoFacebook Nasty re-occuring /wreaking havoc or on YouTube ….. that’s my fear/concern …but again, go with gut instinct/heart ….. Perhaps do it this one time as a trial run and then you can decide whether or not to pursue again in future . ..🤘🏻

  14. As much as I would want it to be just for club members? It might be a good tool to get what we all have been saying all along, Mona and Lisa are the real deal and the world is missing out on what we all know and love, beautiful blend of voices, perfect harmony, gift of talent that is once in a lifetime to me, and to see what real music is all about and how hard work has put them where they are today. Believe me I am not one for change but you have to look on the outside and lean towards the future and to me the future is Mona and Lisa. So that is my two cents…
    Love you both
    Bill and Maddie

    1. I with you 100% Bill. As much as I would love to keep it exclusive to us MLT Clubbers,I want the world to see what they are missing out on.
Happy Holidays to you,Maddie and the Family

  15. Since MLT have so many videos on Youtube now and are on all platforms if people are going to join they will join. Plus MLT have also released a lot of videos that were once club perks as well. Opening up the Christmas livestream to the public may not help all that much and also attract possible trolls/troublemakers. Rudi or Michaela would have to really be on guard the whole show to weed out the troublemakers.

But of course it’s up to you ladies what you want to do. YOU are the bosses.

  16. Whatever the decision for the Christmas Livestream, and I certainly understand the desire to keep things exclusive (though that could still be hundreds of participants), I hope MLT will look to do some public live broadcasts during 2024. One drawback to doing a public Christmas Livestream in 2023 is the lack of lead up time for promoting it. I guess we should also ask if the between-songs chatting would make sense with a larger public audience. Perhaps what we need is more like a live concert of a Duo I and II sampler early next year to welcome 2024, geared to a broader audience, with more time to promote. Easy for me to say, of course.

  17. I feel I am straddle a very wobbly fence on this one. On one hand, I am on board with keeping it an intimate stream with just the clubbers. (I haven’t commented much, but I have enjoyed the guys/gals comments. Good stuff). On the other hand, it is an opportunity to expand the MLT brand. You would surely draw in more potential clubbers. And I think someone mentioned the super-chats which would raise revenue. So before the fence collapses, lean towards opening the stream. Just an old Okie’s opinion. Peace be.

  18. I’ve now read more of the comments and have had another thought. Is opening the last livestream up to all and sundry actually going to attract more members to the MLT club. They already have loads of uploads to YouTube to advertise themselves, will a livestream really have much of an effect. Anyone interested in joining will, more than likely, already have decided to join.

  19. I voted to allow the public to participate in the livestream this year:

Upside: potential for more exposure and members to the MLT Club. We all want continued success for Team MLT, as that success translates into an incredible experience for us members.

Downside: our experience in this event will be affected, and our participation altered due to the increased traffic on the chat; maybe. We have no idea what kind of response will materialize.

So, if the vote goes to open it up, let’s do that and then have a poll after the holidays where we can express how the experience was for us, and perhaps Mona & Lisa will have some data on new memberships or whatever to see if it was worth doing, at least from the increased exposure point of view. Perhaps a livestream on June 16, sort of a recruiting tool, would be helpful, and give members old and new the Christmas stream to look forward to as an exclusive to the membership. Bonus: this may be an option even if the vote goes to keep the 23rd exclusive to the club.

  20. As much as I absolutely love the ability to share personal space with the two of you, and feel a part of a very special group of individuals who recognize and value your incredible talent and praiseworthy character enough to support you on a regular basis, my fondest wish for you is to achieve the attention and recognition you so richly deserve so you can continue to follow your musical journey and achieve those goals you have laid out for yourselves. Nothing would make me happier.

So, I vote to open it to the public in hopes that it will help spread everything MLT to the rest of the world in a time that needs it so desperately, even if it means sacrificing some of the intimacy you both have spoiled us so much with.

  21. I’ve given this a lot of thought. My random ideas are listed below.

The final livestream should be exclusively for us the members but how about making the penultimate one open to all. It could mean 2 days of performing by M and L and I realise that they may not want the hassle of that. The final one is special to us the members and our togetherness. Mind you, to go against my own argument, by having so many get togethers before then may make it feel different, albeit that the final one will be special due to the girls playing live.

My concern about opening it up are trolls and other online nasties who take pride in being unpleasant. This could harm the MLT image.

I can also see the advantages of an open livestream but perhaps one in the new year could be a happy compromise. Again, I realise that they may not want to do this due to the extra effort involved.

As I say, random thoughts that I’m happy and willing to have shot down.

  22. As a new member I going to decline to vote and leave it to the long time members to decide. Clicking on the “I don’t care” button is just so rude 🙂

  23. How about this as a compromise…
Do 45-60 minutes with open livestream. Include songs, conversations, and promos for the Club. Then, close it off for members for the last part of it, however long you go.
Just an idea. Not saying it is a great one. I’m a middle child, we are all about compromise.
In any event, whatever you decide won’t hurt my feelings, affect my support, or keep me from being there.

    1. Brilliant! “Thanks all for joining and we hope you enjoyed it. We’re going to stay a while and hang out just with those in the MLT club. If you want to join us, you can sign up with the link below…”

  24. I am with those who feel like the Christmas Eve livestream is sort of the ultimate expression of the MLT Club being a family. Many of us have gotten to know one another through the club and it really does feel like Christmas Eve is our special intimate gathering. I’m all for doing livestreams for the public. Enthusiastically so. Any Other Day It’s Alright, but Christmas Eve is Questionable. It’s so special When We’re Together and we want to be Close To You. But whatever you decide, We’re In It For Love. We’re not about to Jump Ship. 😉

  25. I haven’t thoroughly read every post here, but maybe there’s some validity to the suggestions of an exclusive Christmas stream immediately followed by making it public. I’m not sure if that would lose many potential club signees or not. Additionally you could make public selected posts from other Advent Calendar sessions from previous years as a broader sample of ‘club life’. We clubbers could even help vote which posts to publish if you gave us a few to choose from. Or we could just scan the old ones and make suggestions so you wouldn’t have to. Just a thought 🤔….

  26. There have been many pros and cons mentioned. It’s a hard one to answer and I think the Wagner family needs to make the final decision as it will ultimately affect them. I’ll be there either way.

  27. I’m against opening up the 23rd livestream to all of YouTube for the reasons below, but I would totally support the immediate release of the playback to all of YouTube immediately following the livestream.

The December 23rd livestream is the most special session of the year to me. I’m guessing that the comments from outside MLT will make it pretty much impossible to follow the chat sidebar. We may lose the some of the closeness, the feeling of being there with the Twins and MLT Club members.

Whatever is decided, I look forward the 23rd livestream – it is always great, and I am looking forward to the 2024 Friday sessions with the Twins.

  28. It’s Christmas. Open up the livestream to everyone. It would be your gift to your fans and maybe add a 30 second blurb about how to join the MLT Club and its benefits. It would be a combination of a gift and a marketing opportunity.
Whatever you decide is fine because I benefit from all the other material that the club membership offers.
    Thanks for all you do.

  29. I would never want to hinder the Twins in anything that they do, but like everyone else in this club, we are so spoiled by Mona & Lisa it is a very hard question to answer. For this year, I would suggest keeping it exclusive for members as a livestream, and then making it public the next day. It might make more people want to join. But, I would support whatever the twins want to do. We all want the best for Mona & Lisa!!!

  30. I voted to open it up to all. The members will have all the other Club Exclusive Livestreams to enjoy. I would love to invite family and friends to experience what we find so special. Maria and I are so happy I happened to stumble across “Drive My Car” at the Cavern Club on YouTube a few years ago. MLT has become such a huge part of our lives. Thank you all very much!

  31. I opened the Club website, and I compared it to the non-member website, and it really highlighted to me the massive amount of content we get as Club members–for a monthly price that’s less than what I spend on coffee in a week. There’s so much negativity and cynicism in the world (and I’m as guilty as anyone else of those traits), that it’s nice to have a little corner of the internet where I can simply enjoy kind and positive people, interesting material, and great music.

In a world where they didn’t feel a sense of obligation to us, this would be a no-brainer. It just makes business sense to look for ways to attract new members. The fact that they are soliciting our input is very kind. The specific details that prompted the question are none of my business, but I suspect they did ask for a reason, so I’m more than happy to enjoy ten(!) exclusive livestreams this month, with the eleventh being public.

  32. I think the Christmas Livestream should remain exclusive to the club. I’m all for a public livestream at some point, maybe a couple times a year. I used to watch Reina Del Cid do livestreams every Sunday morning during the pandemic and they were great. They also made some decent money by donations made right in the chat. It is ultimately your decision and I will be there no matter what. I just feel that the Christmas Livestream is so intimate and personal. It’s that personal feeling that makes the MLT Club special. It’s like all of your relatives coming to your house for Christmas and you don’t even have to feed us. Ok, you have to feed us a little music but you don’t have to clean up after us.

  33. Two thoughts, one of today’s topic and a follow up on yesterday.
My biggest concern with opening up the last livestream is if any crazies show up. I may be overthinking, maybe there would be none. But if you get even just one more member it would be worth the risk. And I want to see you succeed beyond your expectations. You already recognize my name, that is far more than I ever hoped.
    Follow up – the quiz with the 60’s voices;
Gene Pitney had a hit song “It Hurts To Be In Love”. This would be a great one for you to cover and break out that Hammond! I can hear it in my mind and you would slay it. Also, the Aretha Franklin song “I Say a Little Prayer For You “ would be another gem tailor made for you. A different style for you, good for a change up. With your harmonies, and another Hammond friendly melody, these are can’t miss songs for Mona Lisa. Check them out🤔, and see if you agree.

  34. Yet another thought: I bet no one else has this problem because no one else spoils their supporters like you do! We’ve become so accustomed to your pampering we’re reluctant to let any of the intimacy of membership slip away. So, go for it!

  35. Hello Ladies.
I have always wanted the world to get to know you, and the only way Sometimes is to change protocol.. I do like things staying exclusive in The Club. However, this is a chance to reach an even bigger audience than ever before. I do understand both sides of the discussion. With that said, I would encourage everyone to vote and continue to remind everyone to vote. 26 people isn’t a true representation from the club . IMO

  36. There have been several excellent arguments made on both sides of the question as well as some alternative proposals. Lots to think about! What we share in common is our love for MLT and their amazing musical and personal gifts, and a desire for them to have the success they deserve. I will be supportive and happy with whichever decision they make.

  37. I’ve had time to “sleep” on it since yesterday’s answer. But I still feel somewhat the same. While I understand the necessity (of sorts) for the Twins’ putting their name and music out to more and more of the public in order to garner more success, I would be afraid that it would make “The Club” suffer it’s somewhat exclusive identity. I might be completely off base, but I think that would likely cause the Livestream to become a mishmash of clutter and uproar and as Jacki mentioned, there is the “crazies” element as well.
But we are somewhat of a greedy beast, and we don’t want our precious ladies (and Rudi and Michaela) to be public property in that we disappear in the masses. My biggest concern (fear?) is that the Club would then become somewhat obsolete and there would be not as much/more purpose in being part of the membership. I know the Girls and their parents don’t want that to happen but growth has a way of doing that. And sooner or later their popularity must grow outside of what they are now.
I know what public life is like, and the notoriety that can result from being a well known figure is. My next door neighbor is an NHL Hockey player (retired from playing but not the team) and they need their privacy which I definitely respect. We are friends, but not go over and knock on the door anytime friends. We have our invisible barriers and maintain them for their sake. They are lovely people and have three beautiful children. But they need their space and privacy. Much as what The Twins have with keeping their personal lives outside of The Club and their location secretive.
But that will continue to get harder for them too, secrets are not easily kept in this crazy find anything on The Web world we live in. So as much as I would dearly love to consider myself and all Club members super special and “privileged” we cannot expect our cozy little group to be exclusive forever.
So, in the end, it is a decision that really isn’t ours to make. It’s up to them, it’s their lives and career, and that means making career decisions; hard as they may be. And the future may dictate that they open up everything to the public. I (and all of us) would have to be far too arrogant to believe that we can keep them to ourselves forever. They are indeed public figures, and we as their devoted fans might well have to put our personal feelings and online closeness aside for their benefit. They were never “ours” no matter how much we want to believe that, nor how friendly they might be with us in these chats and live streams. What we have in this time and place is special for sure. Not many music celebrities will do what they do for us, and we need to appreciate that. Which I’m sure we all do, just as they appreciate our devotion and support.
So, as the Everly Brothers sang in the 60’s (although most will likely resonate with the 70’s Nazareth version)…”Love Hurts” but we will always have the knowledge that we have shared something uniquely special with some very gracious and talented souls.

Sorry for being long winded, but it comes from the heart.

  38. I guess my personal philosophy about the MLT Club, and it’s my own view, is that it’s a vehicle to enable MLT to continue to do their music from all of our support by being members, and proliferate their music more and more widely across the globe, so more people can experience the amazing beauty and joy of their music and everything they do. So that is why I am for opening up the Livestream on the 23rd to give the general public a glimpse into the this magical universe known as the MLT Club.

It is also very precious to all of us the exclusivity of the MLT Club, and so it is always a fine balance to maintain that for the members. Given MLT is giving us 3 Livestreams a week, sparing only the final one on the 23rd for the public, I think is a very reasonable balance. It would all be to enable more people to find interest in joining the MLT Club.

I have to say even in the first week of the Livestreams, I feel I’ve gotten to know Mona and Lisa even more and feel closer to them than ever, and it seems MLT are feeling the same with us all as well. A big group of good friends sharing in their music and passion.

Whatever MLT decides, I totally support it. 💛❤

    1. Hi Jung & everyone!

When M&L mentioned opening this up to the public, I initially thought that they meant to show EVERY DAY of the Livestream, along with everything else! That was my misunderstanding. But I think it’s a GOOD idea to open up JUST the Dec. 23rd Livestream to the general public!

I’ve read every comment here, and they’re ALL GOOD! I can see the reasons for opposite opinions, so I’d like to add some suggestions.

      — Mona & Lisa will probably get 1,000’s of people who want to join the Club.
      — Along with mostly good people, they’ll likely get a random share of weirdos & sickos who will leave negative or nasty comments, along with bad language & the like.
      Unfortunately, that’s the reality today!
      — If for example, Beyonce or BTS tried to answer people in “Chat,” they would potentially have hundreds of thousands to millions of comments. There’d be NO WAY they could even follow the comments, let alone respond to them!
      — They would just as likely get some unpleasant comments on chat.

      Here’s my suggestions:

1.) DO open up the 23/12 Livestream to the public.
2.) DON’T offer Chat. Whoever joins the MLT Club can do Chat on Another Livestream.
3.) Do a nice, but short performance of say 3 or 4 of your favorite pieces.
4.) Make the Public Livestream shorter, say 20 minutes tops.
5.) Be your usual funny, fun–loving selves!
6.) Have a nice ending for the Public Livestream, THEN add another say 40 minutes for us current members to discuss what just happened.
7.) Close with a song for your loyal Club Members.

That I believe would be a good compromise! During Covid, when us Public School Teachers had to teach all year on Zoom, we’d often have to close “Chat,” because some students would just talk about random things in a few little groups, instead of joining in on Class Activities.

On M&L’s first Livestream this week, I found it hard to keep up with Chat. And then I chatted TOO much! And I relished the personal comments from “Our Twins!” But then I missed things that Lisa & Mona said or did, because I got TOO involved in Chat!

So YES, I enjoyed the Chat, but opening up “Chat” to the general public could open up a Pandora’s Box of problems to deal with!

That’s my 2 cents worth! And I LOVE being a Club Member & would welcome new members. Anyway, the Public Broadcast is worth a try! Who doesn’t need more support? Mona & Lisa certainly deserve that!

In Love & Peace! — Bud Jackson

      1. I had wanted to join the MLT Club for a few years before I actually did. I felt I was too busy & didn’t have the time, so I just watched their videos. What got me to finally join was seeing their video on “Neve” the Gosling, and a few Advent Calendar, & Behind the Scenes “Shorts.”

I believe that most people will probably NOT watch a full hour Livestream. They more likely will watch an interesting, engaging & Musical Livestream
that’s UNDER 20 minutes long. I think you’re likely to get more people joining the Club THAT WAY! You really don’t need the Chat for this. It could just detract from your broadcast, & cause problems for you!

        Thanks for listening! — Bud

      2. Oh darn, two paragraphs just vanished into thin air.

        Hi Bud,
Some great ideas, and I agree. Thought about this a little more, and I think while there could be some risk of a troll causing issues, I think the vast majority of the outsiders joining the Livestream will be MLT fans already, or people who just discovered MLT and are very curious to know more about Mona and Lisa. There is an undeniable magic to a livestream, being here in the moment live with Mona and Lisa that would be very compelling for MLT fans outside. Feeling the magic of a livestream with Mona and Lisa might be just the catalyst to push some fans sitting on the fence to join the Club and check it out.

I sometimes visit the public MLT Intergalactic Fan Club, and while I have experienced the occasional troll spewing negativity on a post or two, the big majority of the time, it is MLT fans who frequent that public space, and the experience is enjoyable and pleasant, and I think the same will be on a livestream.

There is always going to be risk with anything, but the upside for MLT is far greater than a few trolls that might appear. Let’s not give these trolls the power by curbing what we want for MLT, that is to massively expand their fan base, and grow this amazing MLT Club membership past the 1000 mark and beyond.

Maybe to contain any troll or outside people from derailing the live stream, if something does happen, perhaps shortening the public livestream portion at that point might be a good option, or limiting the chat to just the Club members, if that is possible.

      3. Another suggestion:
        Set up 2 livestreams:
1..Have the Public Livestream first, and initially schedule it as a 30 or 40 mins event with music and things, and when that is over:
2..All the MLT clubbers can move over to a second Private Livestream. Would mean logging out and logging back into the Private Livestream. We can call it the MLT After Party.

Now if the Public Livestream after 30 minutes is going good without any issues and everyone is enjoying it, then at MLTs discretion just extend that and let the party continue there with the public.

  39. One aspect I didn’t consider until now is the possibility, however slim, that some members could take offense at the stream being public. I like to think this wouldn’t happen, but some may feel slighted or less enthusiastic? I’m kinda struggling for proper words here. This just becomes trickier the more thought I give it.

    1. I feel the same Jeffery, I would love to see the Twins do public livestreams, maybe once a month or so. I just always have the feeling Christmas is for family and the core group of this club seems like family or at least friends.

  40. What a question!
It’s inevitable that MLT’s fan base will grow and grow and the more famous they become the less one on one we will have and these intimate live streams will be just a memory we few (for now) club members can remember in the future.
Of course we want their fan base to grow and their wonderful artistry to be appreciated the world over and we also don’t want to lose the one on one we have now.
So the question comes down to- do we want to hold on to the intimacy we have right now with MLT (albeit temporary) or face the inevitable and open it up to the world to hopefully increase their fan base?
Sorry, but I’m torn and can’t decide so will vote “I don’t care” which is NOT true as I care deeply so my vote means- I’ll leave it up to Team MLT to decide what they think will be best for them.
I am and will remain a proud member of the Club and will support the decision either way. 🙂

  41. Perhaps Keep the live stream private and then download it afterwards with instructions on how to join the club. Whatever you choose is fine with me!

    1. I voted to keep it exclusive to Mlt club members and think this is an excellent way to promote our favourite girls and to exclude trolls who may well find it amusing to destroy what is a privelidge.

  42. Also, whatever the results of the Poll, Mona and Lisa should make the decision that they believe is best for THEM!

    Peace Out!

  43. Before I leave for work, I think it’s better to release a FEW livestreams that the Twins think are the best & leave the rest for the Club. Not to be selfish, but I believe it would be better to gain outside interest by being very SELECT with your releases. If you release everything, then WHY join the Club?!

Thanks for listening! Our Twins are the BEST! — Bud

  44. I think what Mona and Lisa do for the club members is great. Personally, I am very happy to be part of this great community. If opening the broadcast to the general public helps more people know what they do and how great they are, I agree that it should be so.

  45. I thought the whole idea of being Mlt club member was exclusivity? I think this should remain members only as there are people like myself who cannot make any of the other advent live streams. Opening it up would make it far harder to comment and get a reply from you guys. Sorry if this seems selfish but just my opinion.

  46. I thought like some of the others at first , public broadcast would increase your fanbase in the club,But when I read yesterdays post, you mentioned that the livestream is like hanging out with friends and Christmas is a time for family and friends. So for right now I would have to vote, fanclub only for Christmas and maybe sometime in the New Year, plan to do a public Broadcast.

    1. We may be getting a little greedy Vincent but I agree, Christmas should be for friends and family. A public livestream any other day of the year would be great.

  47. Most definitely open it up to the public. We will have more than benefited and enjoyed the whole of December with you, and I for one am very proud to be part of the MLT club and proud to love you and your music, and think its great to share and show the world what they are missing. I hope that it will bring in many new members. Whatever the results of the poll, we’ll always love and support you.

  48. I think Mona and Lisa and their amazing and talented selves should be discovered by the world. The way to do that in my opinion is to do a public YouTube performance, like some DuoSessions, and a livestream forum open to all. But not in the Advent livestream – I know it sounds selfish, but allowing anyone to join on this most special time would take away the privilege of being an MLT club member. I feel people in general don’t appreciate things they haven’t worked for or paid for. If it were open to all, maybe asking for a charity donation of $5 just so random and potentially uncaring people don’t ruin the livestream. Or maybe have livestream open for first ten minutes then only for MLT Club members. Christmas is about being with people you love and love you back.
I’ve gone back and forth on this and I respect anyone’s opinion. Ultimately I only want what’s best for Mona and Lisa…whom we all love

  49. I’ve seen artists use public livestreams to grow their business. I watched an artist named Laufey in vids on YouTube from 2020 running weekly public livestreams. In January of that year, she was surprised to have 640 people attend. At Christmas that year, she had over 7000. For yesterday’s livestream we had 60 people.

I was glad when I saw you considering a public livestream. But not surprised. You recognized the value of dropping Now and Then as soon as you had it ready. And got rewarded with 50,000 views the first day. You have asked us a number of times why we joined the Club. The number of members is the same now as when I joined in February. You told us what it costs to do your releases. Thank you for having confidence in us to share that with us.

You are masters at music. You are also masters at being charming, but people who aren’t in the Club don’t get to see that as much. You need more people to find out about you.

Club members have wanted you to play live concerts, to go on tour. It costs money to tour; you would need to sell tickets. Growing your base could help make that possible.

It was always going to be true that if you had millions of fans, you wouldn’t be able to spend as much time with current Club members. There are only so many hours in a day. Whatever happens on Christmas Eve, you could do livestreams after. If you want. A regular schedule of livestreams could help you grow.

You’re turning 30 soon, and Papa Rudi is almost as old as I am. Some day you two will make great moms. Do what’s right for your family.

I love what you do. All the time. But it’s not about me. I will be ecstatic when you reach your goals, whatever you decide they are.

Thanks for everything you do. I hope that all your dreams come true.

    Chris

  50. I am for anything that helps the Twins grow their fanbase, sell more music, and become the stars we all know they should be.

  51. Although it’s great that Mona & Lisa put club members first, I do think that by opening it up to everyone, family, friends, etc., it gives a chance to let others see just how wonderful the club is, the hard work that the twins and family do to make all our Christmas times that extra bit special through their music, talent and just lovely people.

  52. I agree with both Jeffery and Eric. My first impulse, of course, was to feel that it should be kept “just for us”. But then I stopped to think about all of the wonderful, generous things Mona and Lisa have done “just for us”. We have enjoyed weekly videos and posts all year, give-aways, birthday cards, and glimpses into their lives – so much so that we feel as though we are a part of their wonderful family. And with this Advent calendar, we have intimate, conversational livestreams 3 times a week all month! Although it might feel less personal, I feel that opening up the Christmas eve livestream would be a way for us to thank them for everything they do for us and a way to spread the hope, peace, joy, and love they give us with the world. God knows, the world needs it!

    1. That’s very well said Jeanette. I voted to keep it exclusive but I will enjoy it either way. Fact is, I never considered your point of spreading the peace and love we feel in this community to others. Isn’t that what Christmas is about? Mona and Lisa have a special gift to give to the world and maybe Christmas is the perfect time to share it. If their beautiful music and infectious personalities help a few more people to have a joyful Christmas then I’m all for it. It really helped me last year and is a big reason why I am still here.

      1. It is a really tough call and I completely understand the desire to keep it exclusive. There are good reasons for either decision. I actually like some of the creative compromises that have been suggested in this discussion!
Also, I’m glad that you are still here – the club (or the world for that matter) wouldn’t be as rich without you! Thanks for part of all our lives.

      2. Awe, thank you Jeanette. I can say the same about you. You always have kind words to say to everyone. It’s club members like you that make this such a positive experience. Since I retired I can do anything I like to stay busy during the day but I live alone so when I’m home it’s so nice to have a place like this to come to and enjoy all the music and fun posts. This is such a wonderful community these girls have created and no matter what the outcome of the poll is, I think we win either way.

  53. I think that every opportunity should be taken to support our MLT ” family”. I feel very much at home in this club, and it would be great if others would join this ” movement” hopefully there will be enough sponsoring to make Mona and Lisa, Michaela and Rudi the succes they earn. They are not only great musicians and artistic people, but they stole my heart with their positivity and kindness, let the whole world enjoy that feeling!!

  54. This really is a tough call for you and for us. I think we all would likely lean toward what’s best for the other. While I appreciate that you probably want to keep it special for us as a thank you for our support, we probably want what’s best to further enhance your musical journey, which ultimately benefits us all. While an open stream may be a little less intimate and possibly busier, who knows; the majority of non-clubbers may just sit back and enjoy rather than messaging in. My only fear with going public would be if some ne’er-do-well hater would heckle you just to be disruptive. I’m still back and forth but probably lean toward opening the stream. I’ll think some more and vote later today.

  55. My opinion may be a little swayed by the fact that I am a new member but I recently ‘found’ the MLT by accident and wish I had heard of them much sooner, so my thought is to share the music. It would seem selfish to restrict the possibility of expanding their audience to others like me who have been blissfully unaware of their existence

    1. Hi Neil,
Thank you for sharing your perspective, I agree.
And welcome to the MLT Club! So glad you are here.
