  1. I’m so honored that my favorite Ohlwine family recipe has now been baked on a whole new continent! Or was it? I have German and Dutch heritage, so maybe Europe isn’t new. 🤔 In any case, Lisa did an amazing job and I’m thrilled you enjoyed them and said you’d share them with others! Maybe the person who delivers your parcels would like some. I’m also over the moon with your great reviews! I feel that Mona’s 9 is just as good as Lisa’s 10! Bless you dear Ladies for making my and Mom’s weekend and beyond! I’m gonna try subbing the second cup of brown sugar for the granular sugar next time.

  2. What a fun session this was!! Thanks for trying Judy’s recipe. I end up getting all of her “not perfect enough” baking and I have screwed up royally on some batches of baking myself and we always seem to enjoy them anyway. BTW, overbaked cookies go great with a morning cup of coffee or tea, or perhaps with an afternoon cup for Lisa 🙂.

Michaela’s video was a great one!

  3. Great live stream… I had to watch it later, one of my granddaughters was in her Nutcracker Ballet Recital this afternoon at the same time! It is so nice that you two ladies take the time and connect with your fans….. or I like to think friends… I do feel as though I am actually getting to know each of you. That is very special. I do believe that any of us that are on the live streams …if we were ever to get to sit down with both of you we could have an actual friendship not just a “fanship”🤓 I look forward to the next one.

  4. Well…in the last few years of my immediate family Xmas Gathering with my older brothers and when Dad was alive …. I started doing the tradition of making my online friend’s ( she’s from UK ) fabulous tasty Shortbread-Sugar cookie Fusion recipe as I had shared on Day 9 of Advent Calendar … These became a hit …. now I bring both the Fudge and The Shortbread//Sugar cookie Fusion and perhaps squares of some sort or brownies ….. I only do Grandma ‘s Ginger cookies once in awhile…. I’m not keen on Ginger much but only her cookies I am …lol… so… I’m reccomending one try doing the Shortbread/Sugar Fusion cookie recipe I shared on Day 9 … as the saying goes….give 20 people the same recipe and each outcome will be different …lol 🙃😉🍪

    1. Hi Jacki, I had a super busy weekend and missed Sunday’s livestream, but I want to let you know that I made the ginger cookie recipe you shared and the cookies turned out beautifully! I took them to a Christmas gathering and they disappeared very quickly. Cookie recipes require careful measurement and developing just the right touch when mixing. I had plenty of baking disasters when I was younger. I remember one birthday, asking my mom, as a gift, to teach me how to make her delicate, flaky pastry. We worked in side-by-side bowls with me doing as she did – or so I thought. When I compared our batches before rolling them out, mine looked nothing like hers, despite trying to follow her instructions! Practice makes perfect when it comes to most baked goods.

      1. Thankyou Jeanette, glad you tried the recipe out , yes, everyone can take the same recipe, outcome will vary, I too, made and still do with recipes… but with my allergies, I have to tweak, trial and error/succeed on them …but if I’m craving something, I j6st eyeball, tweak and guess, especially with my small batch of the tea biscuits….so far, they come out decent, once in awhile I burn tgem a little, because I’m baking in my toaster oven for small batch baking instead of using tge stove oven, which I only use for proper recipe , full yields of cookies/squares, etc, otherwise if just for myself, I use my toaster oven 😉🙃😊

  5. Great livestream .
I feel like I’ve stopped over and visited you, you make us feel so welcomed.
Glad you like the presents. You will have to let me know if those guitar strings are any good, I had no way of knowing. And if they are junk please say so, so you won’t get them again it that is the case.
I always try to buy you Pyramid strings but the were really EXPENSIVE this year for some reason.

  6. I really enjoyed the little disagreement about the proper use of a one-to-ten scale. (Mona was totally right, of course.) I haven’t seen such a divergence of opinion since the Vegemite remarks a few years back.

  7. Ahhhhh ….. I knew had screenshots of both the Fudge and one of Grandma Rea’s SOFT Ginger cookies saved …. May I present both photos to give you all an idea of how they turned out …. Mind you, these photos were from some years back …

  8. Well…despite the sad outcome of the Ginger cookies … with my sense of humour in tow….perhaps Mona and Lisa could play floor hockey /use them as Doorstoppers /FootPedalStompers to create music with ….lol… I’m so sorry that the recipe failed but I can see humour in it … 🙃🤘🏻🏒

  9. The fudge recipe is a hit with my family….the only fudge recipe I’ve had success with and my family n both sides request I make it and bring to the family gatherings over Xmas…perhaps try making the fudge and see if that fares better …. I hope so … 🙃

  10. Awwww…I’m sad that the Ginger Cookie failed…I feel sad now… but Thankyou for attempting to try it… Grandma Rea would of been happy that you tried making them …yrs…ovens vary in hotness of temperatures… I know my Grandma ‘s wall oven was hotter in temperatures than our wall oven , perhaps maybe lower the temperature than what I stated in recipe would work and lesser the time to 10-15 mins ….. Use the hard cookies as a doorstop

  11. This is so much fun, really enjoyed the cookie segment and the parrot video was extremely funny. I’m so glad you post these to watch later. I miss stuff when I’m typing and reading the chat but it’s so much fun. I like to watch them several times to catch everything. I can’t wait for the album stream tomorrow. Thank you so much.

  12. Wishing I could virtually send you all a photo of my baking… I do on my Facebook …lol

I’m seriously wondering if Canada Post would allow one to send actual homemade goodies to UK if well wrapped up…I want to now send Team MLT the Ginger cookies/Fudge …. maybe in New Year I could…just can’t afford to right now

  13. Thankyou, for a Tasty Livestream today…Mouthwatering #MLTBUZZLUVGROOVIFIED Bonafide Yummfied …. Much enjoyed… and….without the Mall Wifi Whackyness …. This location at Grocery Store cafeteria outside the entrance to the GoodLife Gym entrance , using their wifi, worked well …🤘🏻👍🏻🙂

My Bad …. I had failed to make an important fact in my Grandma Rea ‘s SOFT Ginger Cookies …Yes…They’re supposed to be **SOFT** …lol… and to keep them SOFT in cookie tin/airtight container, use a piece of bread, or the terracotta shaped thingy which you use to keep brown sugar soft …. I Sincerely Apologize for forgetting to state this important fact in the cookie recipe … I hope if anyone tries my recipes, please let me know the outcome …. Also, Grandma Rea’s Shortbread Cookie Recipe…. That’s what she wrote for the recipe….lol…I can come close to the outcome of her SOFT Ginger cookies recipe that it immediately makes me smile at the happy memories and yummy taste of them….mind you , I cannot exactly duplicate her outcome but damn, I’m close enough … Thankyou Grandma fir giving me the recipe a long time ago before had passed…. I’ve had family ask me from Mom’s side if I had the recipe to share ….

  15. Thank you for another wonderful time. Loved all your intuitive cooking, you made it all look so easy. The debate between Mona and Lisa whether those oatmeal cookies were a 10 or 9 was priceless. 😁😜 I’m not taking sides. It all looked delicious. Love hanging out with you both and the community.

  16. That was a very good Livestream ladies! I know we all enjoyed it! THANK YOU SO MUCH for SPENDING YOUR EVENING w/US!!

Suggestion: for all those cookie and cake Monsters out there, be SURE to do some Exercising after all those treats, & eat your Salads w/Veg too, like the English say.
    I’m “jus’ sayin!!’

And the Parakeet was a True Star!!!!

NIGHT ALL! (It’s only 2:15 pm here.)

  17. Shortening is a vegetable-based lard or tallow substitute. It is touted as being healthier, though there are doubts about it, as it is a trans fat.

    1. Yes, we need more healthy alternative ingredients for treats. It’s too hard to just give them up! BUT, still Eat your Veggies! I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil all the time, but I don’t know if you can bake with it.

But that HUGE COOKIE that Lisa baked was awesome! That would last me for 2 weeks!

Suggestion: With the high price of baked goods these days, M &L could start their own Baking Company, and probably make a TON of money!! But then their Music would suffer until they got it up & running.

I think Jimmy Buffett owned a Restaurant or two?

(Sorry, I chatted so much today, but it was fun!) Now I NEED to go exercise and practice instruments!

      Later Taters!

  18. Greetings,
Right now while I’m waiting for today’s Livestream, I’m enjoying some Nabisco Mallomars cookies. It’s like a smore. It is a cookie with marshmallow and chocolate all around it. It is so very delicious. I could eat the whole box – but I try to limit it to only 4 or 5 at a time lol.
    Bobby S.

  19. I know I’ve got almond flour around here somewhere. Trying to make Michaela’s recipe.

Oh wait, I probably put it in the fridge!

Not in the fridge. But I did find slivered almonds, so I can make some.
    hmmm, food processor or Vitamix?

    1. I mix the ingredients in the food processor and knead it with my hands to form a consistent “dough”. Our Vitamix would not manage with so little water.

      1. Amaretto cherries go really well with marzipan. Unfortunately, the link is set to private – can’t watch it.

      2. Yay, Michaela replied! Hi there! Maybe we can coerce Rudi into replying too sometime!

Thanks for ALL THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU TWO PARENTS DO!!

      3. Thank you, Bud!
Rudi is usually replying to the tech support questions and bug reports 🙂

      4. Michaela,

I’m sure Papa Rudi has his hands full all the time! He must be genius level to do all the stuff that he does! He and you are the behind-the-scenes un-sung heroes!

(You don’t need to reply; you’re busy enough! Plus, it’s 5:00 am for you guys right now!) I hope you 4 enjoy all the chocolate that I sent last Monday. It hasn’t made it to England, YET!

        — Bud

    1. Jeffery,

You must be feeding the neighborhood! I know that JUNG would come over for cookies ANYTIME! See what I mean? (Ha-ha!)

      1. Hi, Bud! While some go to our family Christmas, we only number 8 plus a few guests. The majority of the cookies, along with 2-3 loaves of banana bread and some fruit, go to the hospitality room at the basketball tournament at Highland Community College this Friday and Saturday. Also a couple neighbors and coworkers and our mailman. Of course I keep a few for Mom and me!

      2. Jeffery,

It’s very nice of you to share like that! You must be popular in your community! I unfortunately stayed home from work today because my cold is worse. I hope I can make it in tomorrow. So no sugar for me for a while. (I need to get back to bed…..)

        Take it easy! — Bud

  20. It feels like a beautiful Sunday, and as the livestream time approaches, it keeps getting better. Looking forward to it.

  21. Does anyone else have a problem with commenting during the live streams? I constantly get an error message. I have tried to create a YouTube channel but get the error message “An error occurred loading the channel creation form. Please try again later.” A google search advises that it relates to an out of date YouTube app but this is not the case (iPhone, iPad and laptop versions are all updated!)
    Any help would be appreciated

    1. I have not got this problem, really strange that is as well on laptop, i-phone en i pad. Sorry i don’t have a solution, but do you use the orange button Watch on Youtube?thats the channel Mlt has created

      1. Thanks for your reply Eric. I do have both a YouTube and Google account and I start from the MLT website and click the orange button.
Sadly I couldn’t make the live stream after all anyway so will watch later

    2. Do you have a YouTube account? A Google account.

Make sure you’re logged into your account.

Google likes to spy on you, after all.

      1. Thanks Chris. Yes I have both and am happy to have Google spying on me if they want. Will keep searching for a solution and, in the meantime, sit silent in the corner when I watch the streams 🤨

  22. I won’t be able to make today’s livestream unfortunately. Meriel and I are part of a Christmas show. Our dress rehearsal begins at 4 pm – the same time as the livestream. I will be sure to watch it later! Have fun everyone!

  23. It will be a great transmission. I will be able to replicate Lisa’s recipe, I will have the step-by-step tutorial available. But to be honest I will never try

  24. Unfortunately, I can’t make it later. It’s my big bands Christmas gig! But, I did try Michaela’s recipe yesterday and dipped them in white chocolate. Delicious. Have a good one tonight everyone😊

  25. Can’t wait! Completely unrelated: a random thought struck me regarding the “quizzes” livestream. During the “turning 30” quiz, Mona unnecessarily divulged that she did indeed have a few gray hairs already. So few people of either sex, especially your age, would admit this. Your honesty and openness are so refreshing and continue to amaze me!

      1. Sorry, Jeffery. I spent most of my evening walk last night trying to come up with a three-syllable animal with the emphasis on the first syllable for each number, and that’s the best I could do for three. Believe me, I tried hard to find something a little more in-your-face!

      2. Oops! Strayed off the animal theme a bit with ‘Troubadour’, didn’t I? How about bumblebee? They’re a tad more sinister!

      3. No, Tim, I just don’t have a YouTube account. It’s already sensory overload for me just to watch and listen to Mona and Lisa and read the chat, without trying to type stuff too!

      4. Yeah, that’s why I like to watch them back later. I can only concentrate on one thing and I miss stuff if I’m typing too much.
