Day 11 – Listening Party For WHY?
Monday, Funday!
Which means it’s time for another Live Listening Party. And this time it’s our original album WHY? which came out last year.
To recap: The way this is going to work is that at 9pm GMT (same time as our previous Livestreams) the video above will turn into a Livestream. Instead of seeing our faces in front of the camera, today we will stream our WHY? album from start to finish.
If you’re watching on YouTube (click the orange link below) you will be able to join the live chat again so you can comment on the music in real time, perhaps discuss your favourite songs and have a nice chat with other members.
Or, of course, you can simply treat the stream as a “radio station” and just have it on in the background while you go about your day. 🙂
The album is 41 minutes long so the stream will roughly last until 9.41pm.
Again, here are your time zone conversions for the streaming time:

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy these album listening parties. The music is great of course and sharing the chat with all the clubbers and hearing their thoughts on each track is so much fun. I don’t know how much work it takes to set these up but I think it would be fun to do this with all of the albums, maybe once a month or so over the next year. I appreciate what all of you do to make this a unique and fun experience.
A most groovy experience. Very cool listening to everyone’s take on this album for the ages. So very awesome.
And I finally got a chance to share some of the things that I’ve thought about it over the last year, with friends who are very, very familiar with its intricacies. Didn’t share everything, of course – it’s a complex masterpiece, after all.
I was reminded again of how very different it is to listen to audio only, as opposed to watching vids. Without all that video magnificence going on, that music is complex, layered, mind blowing, by itself. As I said today while listening, you are influenced by the ’60s, but you are more complex than they were. In a very, very good way.
If you’ve ever seen what a symphony orchestra conductor’s score looks like, there’s a lot going on. It would be very cool to hear your tunes being played while watching it progress across the page, with all the parts instruments, harmonies, whatnot, happening.
Ok, maybe if you aren’t used to reading music it might be a challenge, but I don’t really think so. Could be animated. You still get the Gestalt of what’s going on. All the pieces in motion. It’s a dance, a waltz across the page, across your imagination, that speaks to you, that sings to you.
Only problem is that it only lasted 41 mins. Thanks everybody! I think I’ll crank it up a few more times tonight. So cool.
Hiya Gang, was doing errands and not able to be home in time to listen at 4 PM & chat with whomever was there to chat with but just listened now at just after 9 PM , as I got home while ago, made supper, listened and as often been said on here and I agree….. the more one listens frequently, and focuses, you always grasp/notice things you never did previous, as in learning something new each day/ time and/or new Interpretations come about that strikes you .
I’m very impressed on this album, as to the depths lyrically, Instrumentation-wise , etc . how Team MLT have creatively embarked upon and further reached into Realms that just confirms and solidifies WHY ( pun intended….lol ?! ) their Creative Interpretations and Sense of Mind, just intertwines complimentary and gives today’s music a Jolt to which perhaps is needed and welcoming in my mind to/for generational age brackets, open for personal Interpretations, diplomatic debating, etc , yet at same time offers that Unequivocally Distinctiveness that is Unique , Defining of/from them . The Essences that were list along the way some some decades ago, resurrecting on this album, reflects that , Thankfully approached and tackled.
It’s kind of the Practicality to/of Music where the Creative Harvest is Abundant , Reaping Benefit of Quality, Enlightens, and offers still that Vitality, Classic, Sustainable, Organically Grown RAINBOWSPIRITSOULHEART that the calibre intensifies to a level far beyond and yet reaches out to All… Resonating …

I wanted to be a part the album listening sessions, but I have had to miss both of them. I am way behind of getting ready for Christmas and have also fallen behind on necessary chores. Today it caught up with me. It was either today or Sunday, and I wasn’t going to miss the baking session. Hopefully I will be with everyone on Wednesday.
I noticed something different today. Gonna take me a day to figure it out but I will. Just struck me as a bit odd.

Yep. There was an unknown name or possibly new member at the listening party. But “Lonica music chanel” does not seem to exist in the membership. Did somebody hack into the stream? Or was it open and we didn’t know? Not that it matters really, the more the merrier I reckon. Just seemed strange to me. I sent a reply directly to their name but never got a response during the stream. They did comment a few times though. Just made me wonder…Just that my days as a forum site admin sort of piques my interest when I see something or someone that is not recognizable.
I noticed Lonica chatted back and forth with some; with me, too, I think. I doubt it was open; perhaps registered name and nickname differences may explain it? Dunno, really.
I just got home from the bustling metropolis of La Crosse Wi. Just in time for the album livestream.
Just before the WHY? party I watched the BBC show Planet Earth III episode 8 (Heroes). In it they feature two Austrian women from Vienna who have become Ibis foster mothers to train a flock of geese to save them from extinction. It felt like just the sort of thing Mona and Lisa would love to do. I recommend watching it as although they feed them from chicks and pretend to be their mothers they also have to take to the skies in mini helicopters to show them the way to migrate to the south (Italy), as although the birds know by instinct they need to migrate they dont know to where unless their parents take them along for the flight!
We’ll miss you Jung. I took a spill outside today so I’m a bit on the gimped side of things so sitting in front of the computer is a no brainer. Not that I was going to miss anyway but still.

Nah, just cranked my knee a bit. I have torn cartilage in both that is inoperable (short of complete removal) so I just live with it. Old hockey war wounds that continually haunt me as I get older.

Participating and being involved with anything and everything in the MLT Club is always the highlight of my day. Thank You to Lisa (I like to put her name first once in a while lol), Mona, Michaela, & Papa Rudi for everything you all do.
Next month I’ll be starting my third year in the club and it has been fantastic.

I think at some point we need a to have a tribute to Papa Rudi and Michaela. They do so much behind the scenes and it would be cool to know a little bit more about them.

I agree Bobby, I’m like that myself. I only open up online for MLT Club and a hobby site for my weird hobby (geocaching). I have no info on my Facebook site and only have a login because a few people I know post to it. It probably doesn’t help my privacy though, Google knows a whole lot about most of us by now.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend the Listening Party again today. Sorry. Why is my favourite album of all time too. 😔 Have to go out for lunch today and will be out all afternoon.

WHY? is such a great album. Listening and chatting with all the club members is so much fun. It would be fun to do this with all their albums.
Hi Tim. Indeed, WHY is such an incredible album. I feel like I really missed out big time on the WHY? listening party. Would have loved to discuss and experience this album together with everyone live. It’s like ages ago in my younger days listening to a vinyl with a group of friends. Well there is one more next Monday so will do my darnedest not to miss it.
Jung, you can re-watch it on YouTube with access to the chat, you probably knew that and I know it is not the same but I love seeing everyone’s thoughts on each song. Listening to the music without the video is a wonderful experience. It’s almost like how, when you lose your sight your other senses are enhanced, in this case your hearing is more alert and you also feel the music more. Especially music as fine and detailed as the Why album. You can hear everything that is going on and there is a lot going on with this album.
Tim, for sure it will be nice to listen to it reading all the comments. Probably by tomorrow Youtube will have the chat added to the replay video as it seems to take 24 hours or so. WHY album is all I listen to in the car since it was released. Lately been listening to Duo Sessions II too.
