Day 18 – Listening Party For “CHRISTMAS”

Let’s start the week with music …

It’s Monday so we’ll have another Live Listening Party. As this will be the last one of its kind before Christmas, we thought it’s only fitting to pick our CHRISTMAS album for tonight!

To recap: The way this is going to work is that at 9pm GMT (same time as our previous Livestreams) the video above will turn into a Livestream. Instead of seeing our faces in front of the camera, today we will stream our CHRISTMAS album from start to finish.

If you’re watching on YouTube (click the orange link below) you will be able to join the live chat again so you can comment on the music in real time, perhaps discuss your favourite songs and have a nice chat with other members.

Or, of course, you can simply treat the stream as a “radio station” and just have it on in the background while you go about your day. 🙂

The album is 36 minutes long so the stream will roughly last until 9.36pm.

Again, here are your time zone conversions for the streaming time:

London – 9 pm (GMT)
Los Angeles – 1 pm
Phoenix – 2pm
Chicago – 3pm
New York – 4 pm
Berlin – 10 pm
Moscow – 12 midnight
Sydney – 8 am

We hope you all had a great start to your week!

  3. I had to skip another live session to make sure I don’t have to miss the 23rd.

The Twins “Christmas” is my favorite Christmas album. I love the album and all the associated videos. My favorite has to be “Walking In The Air”. It’s a great song, but it’s also a wonderful video. Rudi captured some spectacular drone footage. This is a video I watch from time to time all year long.

“All I Want Christmas To Be” is also one of my favorite songs and the video is a Christmas time favorite.

Of the songs without videos, I’ve always liked “Santa Baby” and “Silent Night”. Wikipedia has a nice history article on “Silent Night” ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Night )

    1. Walking In The Air is one of my favourites too, Dennis, and I, too, play it all year long. A little research shows that, while mostly quite unknown in North America, it is quite well known in Europe, and there are several other versions on YouTube. For me, however there is a sombre component. I forwarded it to a long time friend in another city just about three years ago. His take was that it was quite “ethereal”, which I happen to agree with. Unfortunately, he was just at the beginning of having flu like symptoms. It turned out to be Covid 19, and he did not survive. So the song has a special association for me as it was our last communication.

  4. It was very nice being able to be a part of the live stream… listening anyway. I’m very much a motorcycle guy. Mainly dirt bikes. When I heard Rudi say he taught the girls how to ride… “the proper way in the dirt!” I agree, 100%!!!! My goal… if any of the Wagners are listening… would be to ride motorcycles with Rudi and maybe the twins!? Of course I’d like them to come to my turf… but I may have to go to theirs!? Bucket List!!🤓

  5. This is truly an outstanding community of music lovers showing each other love, emulating the four beautiful souls that make this all possible! 💕🎶💕

    1. That was so much fun, it was the fastest 37 minutes I can remember. A truly outstanding community indeed Jeffery. I regret missing the previous 2 Live Listening Parties, but so glad I was able to make it for this one.

      1. Thank you Jeffery for your kindness my friend. Always enjoy the insight and creativity you bring to the Club in your posts.
        Best
        Jung

  6. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed these album streams. I knew I would enjoy listening to the music but doing it in the club and being able to share our thoughts together has been a wonderful pleasure. I am going to miss it.

  7. Best versions of Merry Little Christmas and Walking in the air that I have heard. Like the way they have been livened up. Aled Jones did a version of Walking in the air in 1985 reached the top 5 in the UK charts, but his version seems positively dreary compared to that of MLT.

  8. Years ago, I discovered a Christmas album called “We Three Kings” by The Roches. They were 3 sisters from New York. Beautiful and stunning harmonies. I’d play it all Christmas season every year. I still listen to it, but it has been mostly replaced by The Mona Lisa Twins Christmas album. Both albums are joyous and wonderful. Here’s a link if anyone is interested.

  9. I’ve been listening to that album for months, and yes, I’ve got it on again right now.

So very special. Thanks everyone, I’m still smiling.

      1. Hi Jeff,

That was really nice when Rudi gave your Mom a shoutout.

Downhill since I was five. I only got out once last year, but it was a perfect sunny day with the MonaLisa Twins in my ears all day. I treasure times like that. I was just telling my boss,”A bad day on the mountain is still better than a good day at work.”

Destination Sunrise is also a great ski trak.

        Merry Christmas!

        JP

      2. That’s awesome, JP! Yes, Mom was thrilled and is still elated! I appreciate the other clubbers’ tolerance and appreciation of dear Rudi’s gesture! Jeannette is a doll for asking Rudi to do so.
        Merry Christmas, my friend!

      1. That pretty much applies to me Jung. The only exceptions are mixed music for company (still mostly Twins), and I have to listen once or twice to the Grinch song from Smalltown Titans that someone from the club posted last year.

  10. Greetings,
I am still smiling from the last two livestreams. Thanks again to Michaela & Rudi for coming on camera and speaking to us. You two are the best.
Thank you for the beautiful Christmas card and for hanging up the ones I sent to you (right next to each other – by accident – it was cool).
    Take good care,
    Bobby S.

  11. I forgot to mention I received my card Friday, and it’s a beautiful picture! It raises one question that comes to mind since we all learned Michaela’s favorite color: Did Mona borrow Michaela’s coat, is it Mona’s coat she sometimes loans to Michaela, or does Mona keep it under lock and key when she isn’t wearing it?

  12. The first time I heard ‘All I Want Christmas to Be ‘ it became my favorite contemporary Christmas song. ‘Silent Night’ is special to me and your version is absolutely my favorite, and the one we sing along to on Christmas Day. Paul’s ‘Wonderful Christmastime’, my previous fave contemporary one, is so much better with you two performing it! I’ve worn out one Christmas CD, as it has a tiny skip now, but I’ve got other copies and have even shared some. THANK YOU for such a marvelous album!

  13. Received your Christmas card today. Thank you. I enjoyed listening to your father & your step-mom. They are two very talented & special people.

  14. My favorites from this album are the original song (of course), the peppy arrangement of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and the samba version of Happy Xmas (War is Over).

  15. I have a lot on my plate today, and so does my wife. If she needs the computer, I might be tuning in from my guitar cave on my tablet, and that is hard to join in conversations with. But I will drop in as time permits. Can always practice and listen at the same time…

  16. For those in the UK I found this interesting programme coming up this Xmas:

The Hills Are Alive with the Kanneh-Masons (5:40 pm – 6:40 pm | Sunday 24th December 2023 | BBC2): Nottingham classical family the Kanneh-Masons visit Salzburg to walk in the footsteps of Austria’s most famous musical family the Von Trapps – the inspiration behind Hollywood’s The Sound of Music. For this one-off Christmas special, all nine members of the Kanneh-Masons, including mum Kadie and dad Stuart, visit the film’s key locations and explore the incredible story of the Von Trapps. Having grown up watching the film every Christmas, the children – who like the Von Trapps are two brothers and five sisters – now perform their own arrangements of songs from the soundtrack, including Climb Every Mountain, My Favourite Things, Do Re Mi and Edelweiss

  17. Thank you for making the weeks before christmas special, for days now i play the christmas cd from mlt, i mostly enjoy the track ” thats all i want christmas to be, i can allmost picture the elf on the kitchen shelf!!

  18. Silent night, holy night
All is calm, and all is bright

Your stirring and beautiful acoustic version brought that song back to life for me.
