Alone – Duo Session

We read your comments, your forum posts and emails … you made it clear, “Alone” needs to get its own Duo Session. For those unaware, “Alone” is one of the first songs we ever wrote when we were around 13 years old. More for giggles, we decided to rehearse it for our annual Christmas Livestream after we had reacted to our “Alone” music video during one of the daily Advent Calendar videos leading up to the Livestream.

Even in the Livestream we mention that we probably won’t be playing this song again, but who would have known we are ones to crumble under pressure. πŸ˜‰ Many of you guys made it clear that you really wanted to see/hear this song recorded properly for one of our Duo Sessions, and so we did!

We even tried to recreate our old outfits from 2007! πŸ˜‰

We hope you enjoy the video β™₯

  1. This song ALONE I consider to be the best song lyrically that you have ever written..you two girls are fabulous songwriters and singers….this song needs to be heard by the general public on YouTube…this is a great performance….as usual i love what you do and Thank You for doing it ❀️🧑

  2. I am so glad that you revisited this beautiful song. It really is a gem! Shows how much talent you have always had from the beginning of your recording career and how well and far you have come. This new version sounds even better and the leaps and bounds you have made in the technicality of your mastery of guitar genius really shines. Bravo!

  3. Alone is a wonderful song that captures the teenage angst so well. I think we all can relate to those 13 year old feelings. The music and your voices are terrific.

  4. I was already amazed at the quality for a pair of 13 year olds, but then had this additional thought: You wrote the original lyrics in English way back then! I find it astonishing that 13 year old girls think about love, life, loneliness and hope in anything other than their native language. Lucky for us single-language fans, I guess that is what happens when your life comes with a Beatles soundtrack. πŸ™‚ One last note: The tone of the outro harmonies starting at about 3:24 is something I’m not sure can be generated by any other duo; to my ears it is surely a MonaLisa Twins thing. So I finally had to join The Club…

  5. Wow! Can’t believe that you wrote that at such a tender age. That’s such a beautiful song and deserves a wider hearing. Thank you for sharing

    1. Hallo Bob, stimme deinen Worten und deiner Beurteilung fΓΌr diesen einzigartigen Song 100%ig zu. Ist Wahnsinn was die beiden in dem Alter

      Schon drauf hatten

  6. I can’t listen to this without getting goose bumps. Posted in the Duo Sessions gallery along side other great ones like Imagine, Sounds Of Silence, Vincent…, Alone with it’s sheer beauty can hold it’s own, it’s that good. I’m so, so glad you revisited this original. 🧑 Without setting any expectations, I really look forward to seeing this golden gem hitting the public realm. The world really needs to hear this one.

  7. This song is going to have a few thousand views before it gets to YouTube, and that’s just from me. Can anyone tell me what the guitar is that Lisa is playing? I have seen it used in a few videos but I’m not a guitar expert and was curious. It has a beautiful tone.

    1. Hey Tim, add a bunch more of mine to you view count. I agree on the beautiful tone of the guitar, but I wonder if it’s the guitar or mostly just Lisa. I think she is perhaps the most underrated guitar player on the planet.

    2. Hi Tim I totally agree. I have revisited this so many times already. As for Lisa being the most under rated guitarist well sorry but I think that’s me.πŸ˜‰πŸŽΈbut will gladly share the title.😁

      1. Hi Paul and Dennis, I don’t think of Lisa as underrated. Maybe under the radar because the twins are independent and not in the mainstream like most of the really good players. Anyone who has watched them play knows how good she is. I think Mona is more underrated, most rhythm players are, but she plays guitar beautifully and usually while playing a harmonica and maybe a tambourine with her foot. and never misses a beat and sings beautifully when doing so. That to me is amazing talent. They both are so talented. I like listening to the earlier version when they were young
but this recording here is two amazing singers and players at the top of their game.

  8. This song gave me a few flashbacks to being 13. I was completely alone and had no clue. Well done and an excellent preview of what you have become.

  9. I think it’s so cool you revisited this song! What would 13-year-old Mona and Lisa say if they could see that now? πŸ™‚
I feel like when you talk about your younger selves and your musical journey you show such a relaxed mixture of self-irony and self-love – that is so refreshing and inspiring!

    P.S.: Love the outfits πŸ˜‰

  10. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this song….Thank You for revisiting ALONE and giving us MLT Clubbers something to really cherish.❀️🧑

  11. Mona and Lisa! The young girls’ first song is a major adult hit and I truly love it and I love it as much as any song that you have ever written! It’s an amazing song! I truly do love it! Thanks so much for making this duo session! You guys are amazing!

    1. It should be a #1 record…but without a major label contract it won’t even get played on radio…and that’s a shame.

  12. I finally got to hear this, and it’s wonderful. My eyes started welling up when I saw the picture with the white jacket and the striped top, just like so long ago, and hadn’t even started the video yet.

I missed the petition, since it was before I joined the club, but I’ve always marveled at your ability to outdo originals with your covers. And now you’ve done it again with your own original. In a way. The original was precious – you were so young, and now you’ve mastered your craft. They’re both so wonderful. Thanks so much for doing this.

  13. A lovely song, and all the more amazing considering you wrote it at such a young age. I wonder what 13 year old Mona and Lisa would have thought if you could have told them that you would be re-recording the song when you are 28 years old – to satisfy the requests of your adoring fans! You ladies have come a long way, and I am hoping for many great things still to come.

    1. Joe, I agree with you 100%. Even back then Mona and Lisa could play the guitars🎸 pretty darn good. I watched every available video of the concert where they played “Alone” and I loved all of the songs they performed. I’ve even played some of the one’s they played when I was in a band back in the day.

Although their English wasn’t as good back then, their harmonies🎀 were really good. Today you would never know that they had an Austrian accent unless you heard them speak. Mona and Lisa’s voices are pure as silk. Lisa’s voice singing the Joni Mitchell song “Both Sides Now” Duo Session is absolutely beautiful and pure.

  14. Not he best song youΒ΄ve ever written but amazing work for 13 years old kids. Compare to what I tried at 13 this is a masterpiece

  15. So glad you did this, and to think you were 13 when you wrote this. We are all glad that you realized the talents you possess and ran with it, because, well, we love what you do.

  16. It is easy to understand your incredible talent today when we take a walk down memory lane to a beautiful song written and performed at age 13! Simply divine!

As always, “Thanks For The Memories!”

  17. Thank you both very much for humoring those of us that wanted to hear a remake of this song and of course it was special. Of course it’s exciting when you create something new, but a “cover” of your own song (is that a real thing? lol) was quite special. I knew it was going to be. Thanks again.

  18. Sorry I’m so late chiming in on this, but some things got in the way.
Wow! I have this huge lump in my throat right now. It’s been an emotional week (long story) and this really hits home with the lyrics and the freshened guitar licks. I’ve tried to compose in the past but writing lyrics is just evades my ken. To know that you put this together at such a young tender age is an unbelievably stellar accomplishment!
Thank you for answering our requests to rerecord this wonderful tune, it’s all the more special in my mind and thoughts right now. Much love to you all.

  19. It’s such a great thing to walk down memory lane, and revisit an earlier song. You allowed us to revisit it with you – thank you :-))) When you girls sing together it’s a heavenly combination, not unlike – oh who should I compare it to.. (ABBA?) I only heard about the MLT this year, but it’s clear I have a backlog of songs, videos and entire albums to watch and enjoy. I hope you don’t mind, I am adding (stealing lol) some of your songs in my own guitar playing and my daily playlist. Your originals are some of the best songs I’ve heard!!

      1. As I practice in my song notebook, I always grab my Mona Lisa pick whenever I do an MLT song lol! πŸ™‚ When I ordered the CDs, you included a pick – this was so nice!! Anyway, I got a good stack of MLT songs going now πŸ™‚ I was SO happy when you published the chords here in the website / members area!

      1. Indeed! There is something about songwriting when the words and chords just ‘flow’ together, and are actually fun to play. So now a healthy selection of MLT songs can be interspersed between my Beatles repertoire, ELO, The Who… – MLT songs are right up there with those legends!!!

  20. Wow, I keep listening to it and your harmonies are so breathtaking, it lifts and carries me away to a beautiful place. Sends shivers every time. The guitar sounds are so tender and soothing.  ✨ Absolutely love it.

  21. That was awesome! I’m not sure why you girls don’t like it much, it’s great! Beautiful playing and those great harmonies! PERFECTION as usual! Thank you ladies!

  22. What a beautiful song, thank you so much for this updated version. You Girls have a fab and happy summer. Stay safe and stay groovy, and God bless you for this beautiful and joyful music.

  23. Gute Entscheidung, danke, wundervoll melodiâses Stück, zweistimmiger Gesang, tolles Gitarrenspiel. Was will man mehr, außer mehr davon? Man kann erleben, dass Ihr mit 13 schon so gut wart.

  24. It showed advanced knowledge of chords for a first song. I believe Mona used G, C9, and D for her chords. The G and D are basic, but throwing in the C9 is where the advanced knowledge comes in. Many would go to a Cmaj7 or a C or even an Am. But the C9 in that combo would make an interesting sound. Lisa’s lead is also advanced. So, for 13 year-olds you showed an advanced level of guitar playing. The lyrical side is interesting, too. It shows a loneliness and empathy.

  25. Your recordings of when you were 12-13 as well all of them have their treasured place. Your voices and song writings have seasoned since then, that’s obvious.
To record again those songs will be absolutely beautiful. It’s not a remastering because your voices are musical instruments that have make the difference. Along with technology changes in recording. Making arrangement changes to the very early cover songs would be very interesting. Placing your style into covers that are less than being a cookie cuter copy. Your artistic touch is amazing.

  26. So! Soooo! pleased you crumbled under the pressure! How could you NOT play this song again? It is so beautiful, you just have to release it.
You are absolutely amazing singer/songwriters & musicians.
Hope it’s not too long before we see another album from you.

  27. Excellent, it is a must to include it on a Duo’s CD. It confirms your great talent at an early age. It shows a very mature attitude and awareness of the not so obvious events happening around us every day
    Loved it!

  28. I can’t believe Lisa doesn’t still have that white faux leather jacket from back then. How could she give that up???

  29. That was beautiful! I know you two are a bit embarrassed about the whole idea of revisiting such an early effort, but there’s just objectively so much to like about it. At times the interplay of the two guitars reminded me of your “Wish You Were Here” cover. The sharing of lead vocals is something I can’t recall from any of your other songs and is something that I hope you’ll continue to use. The way the energy builds through “she would change her life gladly” is just electric. As to the subject matter, I find the idea of someone who hides “behind her charming smile” very poignant and relatable. No one has ever accused me of a charming smile, but I think we’ve all had times when we’ve played the part others expect in order to avoid revealing what we don’t want known. Perhaps we play the clown that Smokey Robinson (and Linda Ronstadt) sang about.

I’m glad a few of us could help encourage you to revisit this early gem and do a proper recording. I will cherish this gift more than you know.

  30. That was amazing! The lyrics, and especially their meaning, were so much clearer in this adult version! I love all your vids and the CD
from your first concert, too, but this was special! I’m not fibbing when I tell you I got chills during your incredible harmonies! The fact that you could write so well at such a young age doesn’t shock me, seeing the awesome artistic souls you possess and the nurturing artistic freedom Rudi and Michaela provided you growing up.
I honestly think you should consider adding your early “What a Wonderful World” cover to your upcoming new Duo Sessions album. If the audio quality of the original outdoor recording isn’t good enough, maybe a “revisit” is warranted for that classic as well. Perhaps with Pietro? I know you have too many irons in the fire to grant every whim we put forth, but I had to get a word in for such an incredible song.

      1. Thanks, Lisa! I’ve always been very fond of Louis Armstrong, and especially that song, but your rendition as youngsters returning home to find a yard full of yellow and plopping down spontaneously to grace us with your version always inspires a huge smile!

      2. Thanks, JP! I’m betting the majority of club members, especially newer ones, have never seen that heartwarming early video. Especially considering Lisa seems to have forgotten even playing it!

  31. I read everyone’s comments before I clicked play. I am glad I did, as this enabled me to watch the original first. Thanks Lisa. Amazing! With all you have shared on the website I feel like we have watched you grow up. Your talents were obvious from a very young age. This is proof.  I gotta go show Marlo.

After watching the first one (alone, to stay true to the title, and I sensed from everyone’s comments that I might start smelling onions πŸ₯²) I was filled with anticipation clicking back to the new version. Mona is so smooth as she fades in her crystal clear harmonies. (Cue teardrops) When your voices rise together with β€œSheeee” it’s like goosebumps galore.

We love this new version with the vintage look. It was a good idea to do this one as Mona Lisa. The original will remain as one of those rare instances when you are seated as Lisa Mona. Nice.

The next petition will be that you never re-do this song again. It’s perfect like this. Well feel free to perform it live at every show, of course.

It’s easy to see how much you love performing. Your smiles light up the room. We love that you spoke at the end. That was fun. It makes the video very personable.

    TGIF!

    Marlo & JP

p.s. As we were watching Marlo said,”Wow, our little girls are all grown up now, aren’t they? They are such nice girls”

  32. This is undoubtedly a lovely song and it captures the teenage feelings of separation, feeling “Alone”, very accurately. Not just for teenagers, but sometimes in our lives we have to start again from scratch and it applies for our adult life as well. We may no longer have the drama of our teenage expression, but that’s the result of the pounding life gives us over the years.
So glad you revisited this song and that it will have it’s official release. It holds its own comfortably and the added 16 years of performance experience makes it take flight. The transition at 2:09 is stunningly beautiful.
Thank you!! and thank you Tim for leading the charge!

    1. I thought the same thing…that the lyrics are relatable throughout all stages of life. From watching peers marrying while you’ve had a failed relationship to divorce to empty nest to a spouse dying. The revamped melody is just beautiful (although I did miss the percussion element πŸ˜‰ ), and the harmonies are lush and rich. Thank you Mona and Lisa for doing this.

  33. Per my general forum post of 2/1/2023, I take full responsibility for the β€œpetition β€œ.

    Alone request

Posted by Tim Johnston on 02/01/2023 at 16:45
If one hasn’t started already, I want to start a request, petition, plea, whatever you want to call it, for Mona and Lisa to record and release

    β€œAlone β€œ

I thought it was a beautiful and moving piece of music. It’s hard to imagine it was written by 12 year old young ladies on their first attempt at writing.

Please respond with β€œAye” if you agree and support this motion.

Mona and Lisa, I promise to behave better in the future and not stir up trouble πŸ˜‡.

But I’m not sorry πŸ₯°. I was right, this is a beautiful song that needed revisiting.

And you started it! You featured it on the Advent Calendar.😜

  34. Very nicely done and some of the early music you played would work well with refreshing as your voices and accents have changed with time and experience.
I loved your version of Bill Withers and Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone.
To hear you play it again would be an absolute treat, strictly speaking it would not be a Duo Session as you have to include the bass and the brilliant saxophonist but it’s all in the family.

  35. Usually when one sits through something over and over it becomes dull and monotonous. Not a chance when you two pick up the acoustic guitars and sing together. It’s always fresh and a constant source of positivity for the soul. You sort of opened a door here though; since you’ve already done a two-point-oh on an early song, how about some Duo Sessions from β€œWhen We’re Together” as you’ve done with β€œOrange”? I don’t mean to rile up the Members, so in the event of mass clamoring, I apologize in advance.

  36. I didn’t know about the petition. I’m grateful for my fellow clubbers. Nice song. You did so much better than me. I remember I was about 13 or 14, and I was going to compose a flute sonata. Over-ambitious much? It sort of stayed with me and became a personal piece of music. Yours is a really nice tune, and good lyrics, especially describing an adolescent girl.

    1. Maybe you’ll find a chance to finish (if it isn’t already) and record it these days? β™₯ We’d love to hear it!

  37. Hi ladies, BRAVO!!!! I wasn’t part of the Forum discussion, however, I am so happy that you decided to put out another Duo together, why? I just love to hear the both of you, so crisp, the blending of your voices and the melody is really spot on! For 13 years old, writing that, amazing!!!! Now, on to the next one, right? Love to all!!!!!! Stay Groovy because you are the BEST!!!!!!!!

  38. Speechless. That was absolutely beautiful. A grown man with tears down his cheeks. Thank you so much Mona/Lisa for recreating. Needs to be on your next album

  39. I can’t even begin to express how I feel with tears running down my cheeks to listen to this song over and over again…I was one of those begging you to put your mature voices to this beautiful song and THANK YOU for doing it…..the lyrics and the imagination of your thoughts and visions as 13 year old kid’s writing a song with this depth really is hard to believe but then just a couple years later you’re writing When We’re Together album…..you may not call β€œAlone” a masterpiece but I will …girls you have written a MASTERPIECE…i now put this song right alongside my favorite MLT originals….when you release ALONE to the general public it will go viral and break the internet.❀️🧑

  40. Hey, I love it. It still holds up after 16 years. Obviously your voices have matured and your guitar play is in the stratosphere. But for two 13 year olds to compose a song around “basic chords” with melodic guitars and beautiful harmonic voices is beyond amazing. So this is really your “baby.” Thanks for bringing it back. Peace be

  41. The more I listen to “Alone”, I think the lyrics and the music🎸 are better than anything some musicians could write now. Your harmonies🎀 are the best! After being a member for one week, I’m gonna love it here at the MLT Club and I will spread the word to recruit more people! Mona and Lisa are stars and I feel a personal connection!βπŸ’–

  42. Hello my beloved MLT! I so love it when you do these beautiful Duo Sessions. Magic comes out to play. Seeing you both in simular outfits closing my eyes puts me watching that very special concert. I love this updated version. Love the trading of the lead vocals. As I say many times, you both calm me. Been having a lot of strife in my life recently. And then this beautiful song came to me. Thank you very much. Loved it. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. Stay Groovy!🍻🌹❀️🀘

  43. Technically the first of the many beautiful things you’ve given us over the years. Updating this with a more mature sound was absolutely the right thing to do. It was beautiful 15 years ago and even more beautiful now. Good job MLT Club pushing for this! Cutting onions while listening is unavoidable.

Anyone know how many songs we are up to for Tuo Sessions?

  44. Gorgeous song, brilliantly performed. To write a class song like this at such a young age shows how gifted you were back then, which has continued into adulthood. I just love your original music πŸ‘πŸ₯°

  45. I don’t know how to express the emotion I felt when listening to the updated version, it’s a beautiful song.
I thank you for everything you do for us.

  46. Admittedly I wasn’t one of the folks who signed the “petition”, but this is so cool to see! Two different eras reaching out to each other and shaking hands with love and respect.

Now I’m picturing, with an assist from AI technology, a video of 13-year-old Mona and Lisa performing songs from “Why?”. (Naaah, too creepy!)

  47. I watched this 8 times already. I need to get a few chores done and I will be getting right back to this beautiful song.
Mona and Lisa, your fans love you too much to ever lie to you. This song is gorgeously performed.

      1. I agree Tim. The harmonies plus the interplay between guitars. If you need a sonic description of the word beautiful, it is this

  48. Thank you so much for doing this. Made me all teary eyed. It truly is a beautiful song. Creating this wonderful duo session for it now sort of ties the last 16 years all together. You have so much to be proud of and I feel extremely privileged to be included in this circle of your friends and extended family known as the MLT Club.

  49. It’s amazing sometimes how a great song comes together. This song needed to be written by a 13 year old (in this case 2). At 13 the feeling of being alone can be overwhelming. Sometimes to the point of giving up. But then this song needed to wait until you were mature enough to sing and play it properly. Like a fine bottle of wine laying in the rack for 15 years and today it has matured. Thanks girls.

  50. Absolutley Amazing!!! Thanks for caving in to the multitude of requests to redo this Beautiful song.My weekend is definetly off to a Groovy start!!
Loved that you recreated the clothes and headbands.Have loved this song from the first time I listened to it.Still blows my mind that you were only12-13 when you wrote it.
Wishing you all a great weekend, can’t wait for next weeks post.

    As Always,sending Love and Hugs πŸ’› πŸ’“ 🎈 🎸 🎡 😘
    Tom

  51. Amazing version of the first original MLT classic. I knew you would make us happy by recording a new version as you are always so good to us! Loved it just as much as the Christmas version. Of course it has different memories for you as you wrote it at an early age but to us it’s a great song with a real meaning behind the words – and of course sung so well by your 15 years older selves! You even went as far as trying to get the same outfits. That’s real dedication and makes it feel special to us!

  52. Wow! Sweet. Great work.
The music, the voices, the lyrics, the clothing.
And of course the smiles. Nice way to start our day. Thanks Lisa & Mona and an early Happy Birthday to you.
    Love & Peace,
    Bobby S. πŸ˜ŽπŸ§›β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜

  53. I don’t know how you girls do it, but you always bring tears to my eyes when I listen to you sing. Thank you for caving to the pressure of us MLT Club members! It was a very special touch to recreate the clothes from the original recording. Great job! Thank you for another special Friday!!!

  54. Literally brought tears to my eyes….. Good job. Really great songs and instrumentals do that to me. It is so random. The same thing happened the first time I heard “Still A Friend Of Mine” from the Orange album. That song is definitely near the top of my list of favorite songs in my life….and that’s a long, long life.

    1. Totally agree, Still a Friend of Mine will likely always be my favorite MLT song, but this is such a close second along with Jump Ship. Both of those are so completely different in every way it’s hard to believe they were written and performed by the same people, and yet…there’s no other possibility. Can’t contain my gratitude for their willingness to do this.

  55. That was beautiful. Thank you for crumbling under the pressure and for the extra effort of trying to recreate your outfits. You sure spoil us in the club but you definitely created Friday smiles doing it! Thank you again! πŸ™‚

  56. Go on Mona and Lisa – admit it. We were right! This is a lovely tender song and you must have had enjoyed re-recording it and you have done so beautifully. Great effort with the outfits and headbands.

  57. Thank you so, so very much for this, it is absolutely sublime. To have written such a tender, sensitive, and expressive song that can pull someone’s heartstrings so easily attests to the songwriting powerhouse you both are. You hit the pavement running at 13 to write something so amazing and beautiful. Hearing your version of this song done 15 years later, with your even more refined harmonies evokes tears of joy. It’s like a long lost treasure finally released to the world, and it deserves it so much. The world needs to hear this treasure.

I remember many of us early on in the Club as well suggesting a duo session or recording this, and I am so glad and happy you did.

What a nice touch recreating the look of your young selves from back then to do this. This refreshed version, your honed to perfection talents, the incredible adults you’ve become, everything is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. Love this and you both so much, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. ✨ 🎢 🎈 πŸ₯°

    1. I agree Jung, after the proper time in the club this one needs to be released. I think a lot of people could benefit from this one. It was a good song to begin with but needed time for the girls to mature enough to deliver these harmonies. This is a treasure.

      1. Hi Tim, yes totally agree with you, it’s a treasure for sure, and it’s so special too now that they redid this 15 years later, their very first original. I can’t wait for MLT to release this superlative gem into the wild so we can all share it like crazy.

  58. Brilliant! <3

You know I’ve always liked this song. And now, having being reworked, it’s one of your truly great songs. Thank you for doing this for your fans. πŸ™‚

  59. You ladies don’t give yourself enough credit. This song is outstanding. The harmonies are perfect. Lisa’s lead is elegant and wonderful. The lead vocals are heavenly. I’m in love.
The recreation of the outfits is a special touch, something only Mona and Lisa would do for us.
It’s a great Friday. Thank you❀️ for listening.

  60. Yes you did it! And it is wonderful! I was one of those who kept asking for this remake, and you absolutely nailed it. Thank you!

This is one of my favorite songs of yours; it always has been high on my list, but your new version moves it to the top. It blew me away last Advent when you announced that you wrote it at 12-13. It is such a deep, personal song, so real, and yet it was written by two young girls – simply amazing.

I noticed the outfits right off as soon as I started to listen – you two always dress the part. It was fun comparing the old and new videos, the young Twins and the almost 29-year-old women.

I have always been amazed that two 13-year-old girls could have had so much musical talent. You have now matured into two beautiful, worldly women, and your music has grown to new heights, but you have always sung like angels.

  61. I’m glad you “caved in” to our desires and re-recorded this song! It’s a remarkable job for being 13 or so. A real indication of what was to come! You continue to impress! Love you so much!

  62. Thank you Mona and Lisa!!! I have said this before but to hear your voices blend is heaven to me! I close my eyes and feel so good just hearing you both harmonize and blend, a breath of fresh air for sure. My goodness this song is so beautiful and lovely. 15 years ago?? Well it stood the test of time in my eyes and praying and hoping when you do the next Duo Sessions album you include this song. This proves what wonderful and talented song writing you both have. Mona just love the steady rhythem of guitar and your sweet voice and Lisa my goodness the guitar riffs are perfect just perfect and your lovely voice. When you listen to this song, you can feel the love and passion you both have for each other and how you both look at each other and play off each other is fantastic and we can feel the love you both have. This song again is a solid Mona and Lisa song, and no one can match the level of spirit you both have for your talent. As a member of the MLT Club, I am so happy and blessed to be a part of it and to share great video’s as this one is today. I am going to be re playing this for Maddie when she comes home from summer camp today and I am certain she is going to enjoy it as much as me and knowing Maddie? She will be singing this in the shower!! LOL…
Thank you Thank you Thank you so much for re visiting this lovely song and have a great weekend. I know I am now that I heard this beautiful song.
God bless and looking forward to next Friday’s video.
Love and Hugs from Bill and Maddie Isenberg Huge fans from Pittsburgh PA USA

  63. Very nice! I like the story structure of the verses, as well as your melody and harmony. Your natural talent even back that far is evident. Thank you for re-creating this for us!

  64. beautifully written and sang . Words so full of meaning and thought provoking that loneliness can and is depressing for many people .excellent how you put it together at 13 years of age.

  65. Mona and Lisa, you have made the day for so many of us MLT Club members. The original composition; where the journey all started; and “going retro” while performing. Many, many kudos!

We are all thrilled. Thanks again and have a fantastic weekend!

  66. Absolutely charming.Your precision in playing and harmony is a delight to the soul. Takes a lot to make me smile, but your songs always do.

  67. This new member of the MLT Club is soooo happy I joined!!! I watched and really enjoyed this re-make of your first original song and I thought it was really good! Mona is playing two of my favorite chords in the G C family. I don’t think I have ever heard the original you did 13 years ago. I have seen a lot of your videos from back then and I hope I can find this one. You play a lot of songs my band did back in the 60’s and that’s one reason I joined the club.
I don’t like too many of the songs out today but I like (Love) your style of music. As an old lead guitar player myself, I find that Lisa’s leads and fills are my style of playing. It’s a blessing to wake up to the beautiful voices (and faces) of the MonaLisa Twins.

    Thank You and stay groovy!

    P.S.
I’m still trying to navigate the web site and I hope I am able to attend your live streams.

  68. Wow…. Even 15-16 yrs later , it’s still as Poignant and Profound as ever, so pleased it was given a fresh new updated version for all to enjoy as, perhaps, some folks on here at the MLT Club were/are not aware of the previous existence version of this song, but now are, Thanks in part to this …. Loved your re-creation of wardrobe spirit of the song/ etc., alongside to capture the essence . Thankyou ever so much for having decided to finally do an updated version, it was worthwhile , to revisit, and back then, I was in awe of that song, impressed by it, I’ve always enjoyed it, have sung along everytime I’ve listened to it ….. also, to revisit this song, now that you’re older, perhaps, gives you a different perspective and/or that perspective never changed !? Again, Kudos on Re-doing this classic from you, made my Friday Morning, a beautiful awakeing for my brain to come alive with, and see/hear, fab inspired motivation for the day…. Thankyou πŸ€˜πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

    1. Hi Jacki,
I finally got to see the original video of the twins playing this beautiful song. I thought the song could be a hit too. I noticed that young Mona played the 🎸 part Lisa played today 🎸 and vise versa. They are the best! ⭐ 🎸 🎀 πŸ’–

  69. Hello Ladies,
I don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll try.
Perhaps the most poignant song you’ve written. They lyrics and music are so simple yet so dynamic and mind blowing. Alone is a song that even a certain Step mom wanted to see recorded.
It’s been a dream of mine, since I first heard it , to see it recorded again.
Alone is to me, about a young girl, perhaps 12 or 13, that feels so alone and doesn’t quite know what, or where to go next. She wants to be so much on her own, but is scared and unsure if she really wants to. She’s realizing it’s an awfully big world out there, and perhaps she just might need someone to help guide her a bit longer till she grasps life better.
It’s a song that the world truly needs during this time when some things are still so uncertain. I think we all feel “Alone” like this at times, even when we’re older.
Thank you ladies for such a special Duo Session today. You have really hit some strong emotions in a very good way In all of us.
    Best always
    Rick Ross

  70. Sorry – sent incomplete

Very cool how your harmonies and guitar fills make some simple chords sound so special.
I’m amazed at your ability to write such meaningful lyrics in your non-native language.
Also love the alternate lead vocals – both your voices are so sweet and distinctive.
    Thanks for the morning treat!

  72. Great β€œcover” of your original… I think it’s Lisa’s guitar work and voice, but every now and then it had the feeling of the song Sugar Man that you did several weeks ago. Also, both songs are somewhat sad. Great remake almost brought tears to my eyes when I saw your headbands.πŸ€“

  73. its sounds better now because you now have years of experience and more of life to add to the sounds feeling, its great should be in the next album.

  74. Absolutely love it, ❀️ to produce such a beautiful song at the age of 13 you young ladies are just brilliant. Love you groovy chick’s 😘

  75. You two are the very best!!! Thank you for making our wish come true! Such a very beautiful song – one of my favourites. And I love that you replicated the outfits from so many years ago. A nice touch!

  76. This was great love the sound of the guitars, and the harmonies. I don’t know why you did not want to play this song. I think it is incredible. There is some beautyfull melancholy in it. Thank you for sharing.
