Art By Us – Arts & Crafts

We’ve always loved to draw and doodle. It probably reached its heights during our high school days … the more boring the classes the more important it seemed to work on our doodling skills. 😉

There wasn’t a single notebook, pencil case, backpack or dare we say table, that didn’t have some sort of drawing on it. Depending on what we were currently into, you could find little pictures of horses (our earliest obsession), hearts (good ol’ teenage heartbreak), manga (yes, we did go through a short anime phase), Beatle heads (during the intense start of our “Beatlemania”) or our made up animal characters (Lisa was a chicken, Mona a little snail and our best friend a cute seal) on the top of every piece of homework we handed in!

Getting older we occasionally did more ambitious drawings and experimented with various mediums but we never really had (and took) the time to fully dive into the artform as our creative efforts (obviously) were more directed towards our music and videos.

However, every now and then we still love to take advantage of the calming, almost meditative effect that painting and drawing (now also digitally) has on us. There’s nothing more relaxing than putting on our favourite music or interesting podcast and just drawing whatever we feel like. 🙂

Michaela, who most of you here will know as our manager, step mum and vital part of Team MLT, taught us a little bit about acrylic and oil painting since she had spent a good amount of time creating art in that form. She is the one who made sure we had access to a canvas and some paint ever since we were little.

Here we put together some of the pictures we have collected over the years. As we said, most of them are from quite some time ago but we’ll try to put a little date stamp and description with all of them.

We are preparing to release a folder with artwork made by YOU soon, so if you want to share any fan art with us please send them to mlt-club@monalisa-twins.com so we don’t overlook them <3

Creative, groovy greetings!

  1. Something else you can amaze me with. That looks like a hobby you could monetize some day. Serious hammer prices once you’ve finished conquering the music world.

In a thread we were talking about getting album covers out to be seen, like putting them on a wall. And now I see this. Do you have these displayed somewhere?

I know pretty much nothing about visual arts, except for the visceral reaction all humans have. I sign my name, look down at it, and mumble, “what’s that?”.

I always envisioned spending a year chiseling away at that block of Carrara marble, then my hand slips and it’s all gone.

I seem to write the words “wow” and “awesome” a lot on this site. Wow.

  2. You girls have so much talent. They are all very good. I really like the early pencil drawings. I also like the portraits you did of each other. The digital drawings are very cool. I like the Bees Knees.

  3. Absolutely Great, where do you find the time to do everything you do?
I can barely get time to play and write Music. I am very impressed. Gemini’s so
you will try anything once, but you guys do everything. You also like Elvis?

    Stay Groovy
    Walt Music

  4. Very nice!
You both have so much talent.
Mona is good at landscapes and Lisa is good at portraits.
I like Mona’s painting of the “Silhouettes look pretty on the beach” because of the beautiful gradation of the sunset.
Please keep on painting. I’m looking forward to it!
Why don’t you paint your guitar ?

(I am Japanese and I use a translation application).

  5. I keep learning more about how deep and intriguing your spirits are just by browsing your club website. I’m touched you choose to share these incredible, personal images with us. You are each individually, and together, amazing human beings!

  6. Those are absolutely fabulous! You two are so talented. I hope you never stop creating, whether it’s art or music! Thank you for sharing something so personal and so wonderful. I really enjoyed viewing your art. ????❤

  7. Hiya Girls,
as a professional graphics person who has worked in the print and advertising business since i was 12yrs old, your artistry is amazing, i can see the progression and skill building as the phases go forward, the elements you detail and the depth you portray are truly an artistic talent from within, if you had not chosen music then i think you both would of had very successful careers in the media industry without a doubt. In particular you would have a very lucrative outlet for your illustration work,
Thank you for sharing – i can only imagine how proud your dad is and even more so how Michaela feels so connected to you both so closely.

The very best of wishes and good luck to all the family and i hope you will use more of your artistry in your music career.

Perhaps an illustrated song book ??

    P:)

  8. My favorites are: “Silhouettes of Life” by Mona and “Bees Knees” by Lisa. They all show talent with the brush and pencil. Natural born artists in many ways, both of you. “Lisa” by Mona, gives one reason to pause. Was Mona just a little upset with Lisa at the time of this rendering? 🙂

  9. Just love ‘Miss Patina’. And that ‘Fallen Angel’ definitely isn’t you Lisa! She seems to have Mona’s blonde hair though! As for ‘Once Upon a Time’, I’d really love to have a clock that looked like that one Mona.

  10. I’m stunned. As soon as I can get my jaw off the floor, I’ll try to say something coherent about the magical art both of you can produce at any age. WOW.

  11. Ladies, is there anything creative you can’t do???! Remarkably impressive, and over a broad spectrum of styles too. I would like to see every project you produce include an original image by one or both of you. One day these will truly be collector pieces. I would like to collect some of them now!

  12. Very nice MLT, these are pretty amazing and my favorite is ” Harmony ” the girl with green hair and butterflies, I would proudly hang any of these in my house.

  13. Uau! I’m very impressed with your talents! Different styles, but all colorful and psychedelics. That’s (among others things, except the drugs) I like in the 60s, It was very colorful and you bring it back in the music and others arts. Thank you so much!

  14. Hello Ladies,
Thanks ever so much for sharing these.
Wow! You Both are quite good. I particularly like Winter Silhouette and Miss Patina (Lisa you won an award for it I believe) Mona yours is astoundingly good.
Perhaps use some of these for an Album cover someday.
What better way for a New person in someone’s life than to buy paints and supplies to encourage their artistic abilities. Had to make you both very happy and was the beginning of a very special “step mum” in your lives.
Thanks again ladies for sharing your extraordinary. Medium talent

  15. WOW! It’s unbelievable how much talent you 2 have! This artwork is fantastic! I can’t draw to save my life. I’m blown away. It’s hard to pick my favorites, they are all really good!

  16. Awesome stuff… Especially the Purple Bunny and we’ll… All stuff that have Purple Essences in them???… I’ve always and continue to enjoy your artwork… And you’re a fine inspiration source for my own drawing and doodling and poetical efforts… Thankyou for sharing and I’m looking forward to this new fanart photo.. Count On Me? to send you some… Luv all of these creative efforts… Each individually beautiful and tells their own story and/or one can interpret them the way they perceive to see them for their own enjoyment… ?✌️???✌️☮️???❤️??️?️?️?️?️✒️✏️

  17. Your artistic gifts cover so many mediums it makes me jealous. Music, visual arts, video, fashion, etc….. You’ve got some great genes working overtime. I won’t be submitting any of my doodles for your upcoming fan art folder but perhaps Katie will come up with something for you. I love having an artist in the family. Thanks for sharing these lovely drawings. I really like Mona’s paintings and Lisa’s digital art. Dang I like them all, even the portrait of “Lisa” by Mona…ha ha.

  18. Wonderful art work Mona and Lisa. Your samples give us a clue to just how good you could have become if this was your day job rather than music! I love your tigers Lisa, they are my footy team name and colours. I hope Mona appreciates your portrait of her. Somehow I’m not sure, considering her portrait of you, or was it the other way around? Were James and Karli someone you knew?

  19. Ladies, I’ve seen some glimpses of your art work on Facebook and other places in the past and was truly impressed, especially the drawing (Miss Patina) you did Lisa for that art competition last year when you won. What you can do with the light effect was impressive (I’m a big fan of Thomas Kinkade’s work), but looking at these posted here, I am just blown away!!!!!!!! I don’t want to use that word TALENT, but holy smokes, you are truly great talented visual artists as well. I mean serious talent there!

And I absolutely, absolutely adore and love that MUSTANG drawing with the both of you in it. That looks like a Mustang Shelby GT 350! Thanks so much for posting your art. This made my Friday and weekend!!! in spades:) I was head over heels for your music, and now for your art as well! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. There is so much wonderful art here. Your Silhoette series Mona are great, and fountain pen drawing of Midnight Thoughts is especially dear to me Mona 🙂 and Sweet Lorraine and Fallen Angel are awesome Lisa. 🙂 Thanks for sharing all these.
