The Great Barrier Reef, Australia – Photos

During our student exchange in Down-Under we were living in Adelaide, the driest city in the driest state of Australia. It was absolutely beautiful there but perhaps not the “exotic, tropical paradise” that some might imagine when thinking of the Australian coast line.

For that experience we had to take a trip to Queensland, more specifically to Cairns. During school break we got to travel there for a week with a group of other exchange students and got to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, see tropical islands, observe wild crocodiles and explore the rain forest.

We can’t believe just how lucky we truly were to be able to make all these experiences at such an early age (Thanks Dad and Michaela!). We got to see some of the planet’s most beautiful spots which especially now, with the UK restricted to another lockdown, are some of our favourite picturesque memories.

We hope that we will get to explore more and maybe revisit some of these places one day. But for now it’s looking at pictures …

See you on Friday!

  1. Wow, another breathtaking adventure with the Adventure Twins! Whether its high up in the Alps, inside of a volcano or down in the Great Barrier Reef its always an amazing trip with you two. Thank you so much for sharing these awesome experiences with us. I really do wish you two had your own weekly television show!

  2. Such beautiful and cool pictures! The Great Barrier Reef, WOW!, so amazing. I was a certified diver when I was younger. I would have loved to go diving off the coast of Australia. On the other hand though, it looks a little tame for what I liked back then. I liked exciting adventures. Diving off the Atlantic coast where the sea was challenging and when you took the plunge, you had no idea what was down there. But, Australia is truly so beautiful. What a fabulous adventure for you to be able to enjoy. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I loved the pictures – what camera was used?

I learned basic sign language a long time ago(ASL). I noticed LIsa’s #3 (if it was ASL) and wondered was that the end of 1..2..3 or something else?

  4. Those are some impressive underwater shots. Its like a foreign world under the surface. I liked the sea creature with the goggles and snorkel best. That’s the beautiful paradise I’d rather be in right now. These days remind me of that old song “We will meet again”. Thanks for sharing these wonderful memories, it always makes Tuesdays something to look forward to lately.
