Do you share music you enjoy? – Poll

We think most of us know that feeling of finding something we really enjoy (music, art, movies, …) which then creates this strong urge to want to share that positive experience with others.

In this day and age that often happens by simply clicking the “share” button on a social media post or maybe you’re in a group chat with your friends in which you share your favourite music from time to time.

Or perhaps you’re one of those radical people who actually still have face-to-face conversations with others and share ideas and new discoveries that way! 😉

We’re sure there are also lots of people who prefer to keep their favourite music to themselves, who feel that this is a very private, sacred thing that they don’t want to be “tainted” by other people’s opinion or influence.

There’s a lot to unpack here but our simple question for today is:

You can let us know your more detailed thoughts about this in the comments below, we’d love to hear them!

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Rather rarely and it has to be super-special and meaningful – like your version of “God Only Knows”. The last music I shared was that of Francois Hardy. I was totally blown away by her too!

  2. Being a Radio Presenter here in Australia, I run a program dedicated to unsigned/independent bands/musos/labels and I am always raving on about some new releases and frequently have such musos live on my program.

  3. There are some kinds of music I can share with people and others, not so much. Some music I like is pretty niche stuff, jazz, blues, zydeco, classical, etc. I’ll try to share it, but not everyone likes all of those.

The most common way I share music is by texting the YT url for it. Free, quick, easy. I’ve never used a Share button, mostly because I don’t like adding to my dossier at the tech companies.

I have shared your music, of course, since anyone would love it.

  4. My friends and I share a lot of our favorite YouTube music clips with each other. I have been sharing a lot of MLT videos lately.

  5. I think sharing music is the most fun you can have. Remember in the 80’s buying LP’s and dragging them all to my friends and we would take turns putting music on and in that way we introduced each other to groups we could not afford to buy separately. Nowadays streaming is king and it is easier to share but so nice to see Vinyl LPs back where they belong but it hurts now I replaced it all for cd’s in the late 80’s

  6. Yes!! And the music I’m sharing with everyone the most is yours. If you’re in my car,you get a huge dose of MonaLisa Twins songs for the ride.Wear my MLT t-shirts with pride, and love when people ask me about them.Have turned my friend out in Colorado into a HUGE fan,he has the Live at The Cavern Club poster in sent him framed and hanging in his music room(along with our favorite All Time band The Beatles). Thanks for all you do to brighten our world.
    Love & Hugs????????

  7. Yes, absolutely share the music I support. Sharing is the extension of the support that goes beyond MLTC. Share the Facebook pictures.

  8. Absolutely I share…constantly talking about “my” twins …. as you know I’m a truck driver and I bought several calendars and magnets and several CDs and I give them away to people whom seem to be interested in 60s music….just yesterday one of the shipping /receiving managers from a warehouse sent me a text wishing “my” twins a happy birthday as he saw it on his MLT Calendar….I go to chiropractor twice a week and one day they had rock n roll playing on their system and I asked the girl at the front desk who’s in charge of the music selection and she said she was and I told her about MonaLisa Twins and she seemed interested….the next time I was there I gave her two magnets…the Orange and the Vol 2…she was thrilled and told me she checked out YouTube for your music and her roommate even enjoyed it…the next time I gave her LIVE at CAVERN CLUB and she yelled out “ they even signed it”….LOL…I’ve got 3 of your t-shirts and wear them and they are conversation starters….talking about MLT is one of my favorite subjects❤️????

  9. I agree with Jack. I only share the MLT music that is on You Tube. The songs that have only been released to us club members stay with us. The world will just have to wait for “Jump Ship”!

  10. My caveat with sharing music is that I only share MLT music. So it’s occasionally since I have to meet someone new to tell them about it! ????

  11. Actually I don’t because most of what I listen to lately is from this site and I believe that it is to be NOT SHARED. Maybe I disagree with that but I also respect and abide by the rules.
I must admit that I’m a bit surprised that you would even bring the subject up. I feel dearly about your entire program and would not do anything to disrupt it or be excluded. I reserve that right for myself and hope to never exercise it. You ladies are growing by leaps and no bounds both musically and in life. I absolutely adore being able to watch it unfold. Hats off once again to the master mind, Dear “ol Dad Rudy. Oh, if I had only been so insightful raising my Daughter. Love and Hugs, all of you Rock Jack Noble

  12. Hello Mona And Lisa
Since meeting you about 4 years ago You guys are pretty much all I listen to anymore everything is on my phone and I play it wherever I go some people ask me who is that on the cover of my phone I wear shirts with your iron on patch on them and just let people ask me who are the Mona Lisa twins and I take it from there if they’re not interested I do not try to ram it down anyone’s throat.
I enjoy talking about The MLT gang And everything you offer And what you have done for me in my life.
You constantly give enjoyment to many people And I feel very fortunate to be one of them. So share? By all means yes I do.

  13. Hi there,
I have always enjoyed sharing music that I enjoy with as many people as possible. Whether it was playing my radio, vinyl records, tapes, or CD’s or just me singing (which I still do a lot).
Now with the internet I do sometimes forward songs and/or videos to people.
Also, as much as possible I do try to get as many folks as possible to discover the MLT, just as I did.
    Love and Peace,
    Bobby S.

  14. I enjoy music from practically every genre including today’s music (I’m 78)and have a large collection of cassette tapes, vinyl and cd’s including everything you have released so far and still adding to it. My grandson (19) who lives with me is always taking cd’s to his room to listen to as he wants to be like me and appreciate a wide spectrum that is music. Does that count?

  15. Oh, I absolutely share music I enjoy, especially when I discover new artists and songs. After all, that’s how a number of people I know came to know about you! 😉

  16. Not too long ago I sent Mona & Lisa copies of two of my favorite LPs from my youth, including a copy of the first LP I ever owned. Undeniable proof I share music!

  17. As Isabell says, I am also not someone who engages in much social media. I usually send a YouTube video or a song on Spotify to my son or I will share face to face with my wife. We recently visited my son and my form of sharing your music was us playing along with some of your songs I have recently learned. So much fun.

  18. I’m not very big on social media. I often share music with my boyfriend – we literally show each other videos that we like. I often talk about music with him or my parents. And once in a while, I give a physical copy of music to someone who I think might enjoy it, e.g. something by the MonaLisa Twins… 😉

  19. Hi Twins
I only share female artists as I think the promotion and managing of these ladies are a bit poor – and I like the sound and look. For 10 years I’ve been writing about and following Little Mix (most success full English girl group – won X-factor 2011) on FB and Twitter – then you came along bringing back the old days in a brilliant way – and you are my favorite twins. Larkin Poe (two American sisters) and The Warning (three Mexican sisters) are the most recent girl groups. First girl group I followed was The Runaways (late 70ies). KSM was also a nice rock group made by Disney. Leif that’s enough – okay okay I’ll rest my case and wish you all a nice and hyggelig day.

  20. Well, I made a grand entrance to our faculty department meeting with “Tilt-A-Whirl” by Jimmie Vaughn the other day…they were like ‘what the heck is that?’, lol. Does that constitute sharing?

The first couple of times that I played some MLT to my students or our high school baseball players, they weren’t too sure what to make of it. However, after a bit, they realized that it was good stuff, especially with baseball. A couple of times I had some songs blasting while I was posting the lineup card and dugout duties and a few were really into it. Guess there is some hope for today’s youth.

Maybe I will try “That’s Life” at the year-end faculty department meeting.

  21. Yes music that really touches me, I want to share it !
In fact just recently I bought the ‘ Orange ‘ album and ‘ Live at the Cavern Club ‘ album for my daughter. She is a reall big 60’s fan also.

  22. I share Mona and Lisa videos all the time- at physical therapy, grocery store, post office – and I’m always saying what a great deal the MLT Club is…

  23. Most of the music I enjoy (other than MLT) is from a long time ago, so I generally assume that anyone I might be tempted to share it with is already familiar with it. Obviously that’s not the case, given the proliferation of YouTube videos featuring young adults listening to old music for the first time, but I don’t feel it’s my job to proselytize.

There is the exception of my brother, who grew up with me musically and has many of the same tastes. I’ve also played a few MLT videos for my daughter. And I keep meaning to share “In it for Love” with my mom, because it reminds me of the old McGuire Sisters songs that she so enjoys.

  24. Hi Ladies,

Strange you should ask that question. I was thinking about You all and Mark and Maria and how much I have enjoyed sharing your music with them. Mark (aka Spike) was introduced to your music by me. As he and I are Great Friends. Your music and incredible Talent floored him. In turn he has shared your ” fabulous ” music with friends of his own. Maria first heard you and said ” Wow! They’re really, Really good”. They are not the only ones I have shared your music with, I have shared with many, many people.
I share favorite Genres of music that I have many times each month. My most favorite, and has been for the last 7 years is yours. Can’t get enough, and keep wanting more.
    Thanks Ladies and Team MLT
    Rick Ross

  25. My friends and family do not necessarily share my love of 60’s music with me. I do share music occasionally when I hear a song that I feel my family or friends would like, mostly via YouTube videos. Recent songs I have shared have been “Questionable” and “I Bought Myself A Politician”, which most everyone liked. I also shared “Walking In The Air” when it came out – what a wonderful Christmastime video!

  26. A friend has sent me more CDs than I can count. If I listened to them all I would never get any reading done.

  27. Well.. If I love/like something…it’s going to get shared (have made some folks now aware of MLT Music ????????) – but it’s up to them to decide if they wish to share what I share and/or follow onwards in learning more about the music I share on their own time … if they don’t like what I share , that’s fine too, all have their own thoughts , etc …but if they like/love what I do share, that makes me happy, and if not, well, it’s their choice but they’re missing out …. but also to add… I’m kind of set somewhat in my ways of my music tastes and open-mindedness towards new stuff, etc and if something really grabs my attention from Get-Go, it will be shared because I’m enthusiastic about it and wish to share that excitement …and if I’m not overly keen on something, well…it doesn’t get shared…
In Essence.. If it moves me personally, I’m sharing… if others embrace too from it, even better but I do know that not everyone will, and that’s okay… It’s a personal preference thing I think…to each their own… To Share or Not To … ????☮️

  28. I confine my suggestions of music to those few in my life who share similar musical interests. I must say, however, that my daughter does like music from the 60’s and 70’s, even though she is an 80’s kid. 🙂

  29. Most of my music is classic rock/pop and folk, so sometimes I try to share that with my younger kids. However my youngest daughter (17 years old) is a major K-Pop fan so she could care less about my music! Kids! But that’s ok because I remember how I felt about the Beatles when I was her age. I do share your music with my two older brothers when I am at their houses. I gave them each one of your cds last Christmas. They really liked them. Future MLT Club members hopefully?!?

  30. I got several of your CDs,and gave them as Christmas presents. Gave one to my niece who is in musical theater – trying to convince her to start her own youtube site. Peace be

  31. I have been sharing your music with everyone who will listen.I always get positive reactions. You ladies are a breath of fresh air,in a world of not so talented performers.I look forward to each new song you release. And I share with friends and family to see what they think about it.We all Love the the videos that go with them as well. You Girls ROCK!!!

    Love and Hugs as always

    ???? ❤

  32. Hi Mona and Lisa, what a fun question.
I’m of the mindset if you are lucky enough to come across a beautiful piece of music, art, book, movie, hobby (fountain pens) LOL! that give you much joy and passion, it would be only right to share it with those you care about. I try to share my things as much as I can, usually in person or by email or sharing on face book or any other means available to me.

With music and art if I don’t have the talent or gift to create my own creative joy and beauty, though I try, if I can share what I know and enrich lives that way, it is so worth it. I do find though some people are more open minded than others to experience something new. You can lead a horse to water, but can’t make it drink, but I do my part by at least leading one to the wonderful well.

    As George Harrison says:

Hope you have an awesome weekend. ????❤

  33. I have found sharing “new” music can make wonderful bonds. When I find something new that moves me, I instantly want to share the experience and try to think of others that might enjoy it. If they like it, it can be like hearing it for the first time again as I watch their face move to the music or we give each other the nod as to say,”This is nice!”

On the other hand, if they don’t like it or don’t get as a excited as I think they should, it can be very disheartening. When I was younger and more susceptible to peer pressure, it could make me question myself. Is it any good? Do I really know what good music is? But as I grew older, I learned not to question my opinions as much. I like it and that is that. As the song says, you have to be in it for love????

I will admit, there is a lot of music that I keep to myself. Now that I think about it, it is probably to avoid that disappointment of someone not enjoying it. I mean how can they not like this? Here, read the lyrics while you listen. Wait start it over and turn it up a bit. No, this is an instrumental. You are obviously not hearing what I am hearing. Ok, let’s put on something else. There, that’s better. Yes, this is a new song by the MonaLisa Twins. It is called Songbird. Nice! Wait til you see the video. Now listen with earbuds. Nice, eh?

Was it David Crosby who taught us to never be afraid to let your freak flag fly?

  34. I play MLT cds all the time at work, so there’s no avoiding sharing my favorite music with anyone lucky enough to wander near my work area! Any time my sister and her husband or my nephew and his family visit I try to share the latest MLT YouTube video (and a few others) with them. I wear my MLT hat most everywhere except work, and my chiropractor and a local auctioneer have asked me about it. That gives me the chance to direct them to your YouTube vids or website. So, yeah, I share my favorite music quite often!
