Baby Mine Video – Early Access
Official Release Date: 29th March 2019
With the release of the new “Dumbo” movie just around the corner (it’s coming out next weekend, you can watch the trailer here) we just had to create a video to go along with our version of the soundtrack song “Baby Mine”. The song itself got released on our “MonaLisa Twins play Beatles Vol. 2” album at the end of last year, but with the new film coming out now there couldn’t have been a better time for us to do a video for our song, too.
We used to watch the original Disney movie as children, and the scene that features the song (sung by Betty Noyes) has got to be one of the most heart-breaking moments in Disney history – and there certainly isn’t a shortage of those!
Occasionally we do commissioned song requests from fans (e.g. Feeling Groovy and Morning Has Broken for Neill from Arizona). Baby Mine got commissioned by Richard from Florida. It was a song that meant a lot to his family as he and his wife used to sing it to their children as a lullaby. It wasn’t the obvious type of song we would normally go for but we welcomed the challenge and decided to give this lovely sweet tune quite the “60’s-back-beat” make-over.
Expected cute little animals and babies in our video? Granted, that was tempting!
But you’re in for another surprise. Watch the video to see how we followed the style of our cover in which we tried to bring out the best of our Rickenbacker/Gretsch + Western guitar combo.
We love the song, we love the movie, and soon we will find out if we love the remake, too. And hopefully, we’ll find out if you love our new video! Let us know in the comments and in the YouTube comments next week!
Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa
Wonderful video cover of Baby Mine. Best version I’ve ever heard. And the video is a great take, because I know your guitars are your babies. I really love the cover, the video and you all. GROOVY!!
I’m a little late to the party as I had no Internet this weekend. But, oh the wait was so worth it! I suggest not using it to lul your babies to sleep. Who could sleep after listening to that? Love, love, loved this! I love how you took a classic, gave it a back beat and a twang and made it your own.
Shame on me! I’ve never watched the entire Dumbo movie, despite I like him, maybe I watch the new one.
I have some guitars, but no one like yours, but I also take good care of them, I got it.
Great song and video, as usual. I love my family and it was great to see your mother on the video, she deserves it.
Absolutely loved this fun video! And I find your upbeat version of this classic song infatuating. (Thank you Richard! I didn’t know MLT did commissioned requests!) As mentioned by Ed Brown, your catchy version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is also one of my most favorite. You have the uncanny ability to cast your magical spell on everything you perform. And what a special treat to finally have the gorgeous Michaela in a supporting role! Judging from all the enthusiastic reviews here I think its a forgone conclusion that she should get in front of the camera much more often. Thanks so much for this gem!
Had to watch again…..I also like the matching outfits you were wearing. Also Michaela’s part was funny..….
Thanks MLT, loved it and fantastic harmonies as always.
Wow! Best version I’ve heard of this awesome song. You should be in a Disney movie – you are magical. I can’t wait until next week when I can share this video. You both sure love, care for and rock your babies. Even (dare I use the word “Grandma?”) was lovin’ on and rocking Lisa’s baby. What a fun video and fantastic cover! Love, love, love it. And, love you all. Best wishes from across the pond.
Ladies, such a fantastic job in doing a 60s version of this classic song! I love it!
Of all the talent the MLT team exhibits one of the very best is the way you can take an existing song and totally turn it into your own. The flavor that you gave this tune reminds me so much of the catchy upbeat 60s version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” a couple of years back where you made the song really come alive! And so great to see mom Michaela making a special appearance! All in all a very joyful experience – thank you for the happiness!
I see that you feel the same about guitars as I do. I have some that are my favorite “children” and others that are temperamental “children” (overly sensitive and hard to hold a tuning). One day I’ll post a “family” portrait of the kids. I really like the song and the video. I look forward to more good things from MLT. Mike.
Oh my god I LOVE IT! What a WONDERFUL video! And what a great tribute to your love of guitars and love for playing them! I love the upbeat nature of the song and the sound of those guitars. And a cameo from Michaela! She was a natural! Well done madam!
I love this video!!! Been paying extra attention to your videos with guitar playing scenes lately, so to see this wonderful song with your special affection for your guitars is so timely and extra sweet. You both look and sound incredibly awesome playing your guitars!!! Makes me want to switch over from piano to guitar. Lisa, I notice it’s not the black and white Gretsch Duo Jet here. Is it the Country Gentleman or a new addition? Both are just lovely. A brilliant cover of this song in your long standing tradition. Thank you!
And what a treat to see Michaela appear in the video. Even more awesome!
I notice here you both have cute dimples, and it goes so perfect with the video and song too. You belong in the esteemed 20% of the population with beautiful dimples. 🙂
I never once took the time to listen to the audio track, I surprisingly can’t stop listening watching it now.
I keep playing it all over again asking myself how I happened to miss that while I have the albums for weeks. It such a great rendition. I had the Betty Noyes recording, but the audio is not high quality; I’ve watched or read Dumbo when I was a kid, the song if I heard it before would had been in French which is why the song never meant nothing to me.
I was really surprised it was included in the albums, I recognized the title from a Disney piano book and knew where they got it from.
My expectations were so low especially after “Did You Ever Make Up Your Mind”; another one I never listened to before the clip and I can’t bring myself to watch until the end.
A wonderful rendition of “Baby Mine”. I’ve loved that song for years. People that don’t own guitars don’t understand how much of a “baby” your favorite guitar can be. My first “favorite” one was a 1967 Gretsch “Viking”. A soft wiping cloth stayed in the case at all times. Only select people could touch it. Michaela was a splendid addition on this one. I enjoyed her saxophone, tambourine and vocals on the early MLT performances. One more pretty lady is always a welcome site. Again, great performance, beautiful, rockin’ arrangement. Be safe and stay Groovy.
Awwwww…. ????✌️????????????????????????????????????????????️????????????… ????????BMine… Love it… Michaela’s debut in a video… Nailed it ????????????…. It was cute in a quirky funky way… Truly… Your guitars are your children… Michaela ‘s Mom instincts kicking in musically????????????????????… All around Thumbs Up Kudos ????????????❤️????… Thankyou for another creative music gem with perfect complimentary video ????????????????️????️????????????????
Ladies, I am speechless. I’ve already watched it 5 times. This is even better than the original, But then again you aren’t the extraordinary MonaLisa Twins for Nothing. I am so extremely proud of you all and the way you presented this version.
I so enjoyed seeing you in your performing gig attire again. Your love for your music, performing, guitars, and each other has never been more evident. Thank you Ladies.
The topping on the cake was seeing Michaela in her Oscar Winning Support role was perfect.
Thank you Team MLT for such a fabulous video.
PS is this the version used for the movie or is it going to be used at the end of the movie?
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? You guys know how to make videos and you certainly seem to have fun making them. Well that’s good, because we just love watching you have fun while we listen to your perfect harmonies and excellent guitar work.
And what a bonus! Michaela finally gets a chance to shine (pun intended). I second Tomás request for more Michaela in future!
Three beautiful women singing about babies ……………… Hmmm, could it possibly be! Then again, after I was blindsided into thinking the JS video was going to be a nautical song after Mona’s ‘Ahoy’ photo tease, I realise they don’t give anything away and keep us guessing.
Thank you also to Richard from Florida for making all this possible. Can’t wait for the next Lanzarote pics! What a Club this is. I don’t know any better!
I did choose the good month to get back
I feel like such a proud Papa and Grandpa now. The song finally got released last year and now a video for it. You’re even wearing the shirts I got for you and the Dumbo plush has found a spot in your home, but you have to share it. Loved Michaela making her first dramatic role in a music video. There may be a Grammy or supporting actress Oscar in her future. All in all it’s been a great experience from start to finish and let’s see how YouTube viewers like seeing this famous lullabye turned into a rocker. I know my family has enjoyed it and now the grandkids have an MLT video version of it to enjoy along with the family made video my daughters put together for me for Father’s Day last year. Thanks and much love to you all for putting so much effort into this project.
This is so much fun! For those of us who love our guitars, this is a gem. Michaela cracked me up, so funny! Would love to see her in front of the camera more often.
Coincidentally, I’ve just spent the last two days changing strings and cleaning my “babies” of mine.
You never fail to lift my spirits!
Thank You!
