Little Drummer Boy (Audio Only) – Early Access

MonaLisa Twins Recording

December isn’t far off …

… and we’re gearing up for the Holiday season. New videos, Christmas surprises and of course: Our annual Christmas song.

We are in the process of filming and editing this year’s video but wanted to share the audio version with you already.

This one is really special to us, especially now that both Bing Crosby and David Bowie are gone whose bittersweet and hauntingly beautiful version we leaned on when recording our cover.

We hope you enjoy our rendition of “Little Drummer Boy”:

  1. I dont ever put a song on repeat and play it over and over again, but I cant help it with this one its so darned beautful and out of this world. What a beautful Christmas season so far because of this.

  2. Wow, your harmonies sound like a flock of angels. .
Your voices are clear and accurate than ever.
What a great coda for a great year!
The next year should be your breakthrough to a world-wide fame!

    1. Yes, great harmonies, but sound more like a ‘choir, chorus, flight, host, or pinhead of angels’, being the collective nouns for angels. You did have me thinking of a ‘flock of seagulls’ though, outrageous eighties hair and all! LOL!

  3. I’ve never heard the Bowie/Crosby version of Little Drummer Boy before, but if you ever wondered if sheer beauty in a piece of art or music could bring out tears, well Mona and Lisa’s rendition with their incredible harmony here did it for me. Lisa and Mona’s singing, just wow!!!! I’ve heard some people say rock singers aren’t the best singers in the grand scheme, but Mona and Lisa blow away that myth. They belong in the company of some of the best singers in the world. They just proved it here.

    1. Hasn’t been one of my favourite songs either, but surely appreciation of this version is more about the beautiful, sweet, vocal harmonies than the song itself. Don’t know how anyone couldn’t be moved by the exquisite vocals of Mona and Lisa, no matter what they sing.

  4. I’m sorry, I cannot help it … I have to post again here to tell you the following:
Dear Mona, dear Lisa, with this cover, a really jewel, you have filled my heart to the brim with joy. Your exceptional, angelic voices, just accompanied from a snare drum, wow – simply entrancing! There is no more room now for other wishes to Santa Claus, I am completely happy. Thanks a thousand times and: ”Blessed Christmas to you and your Family”!

    1. I know just how you feel. This effort from the Twins alone is worth a years MLT Club membership. They just keep on giving more and when I think Lisa has already produced her best vocal she comes up with this stunner. Just exquisite! I’ve been listening to this almost non stop all day. I can’t wait for the video!

  5. What a bold vocal move! An a capella version of one of my favorite pieces. I thought Bing and David were memorable, but this take on the piece is just a jewel! Thank you so much, and Merry Christmas to you, and all of house Wagner.

  6. For me, now it’s a tradition.. the MLT’s Christmas message..is a very special gift from Wagner family to us.
Your performance is wonderful in this song.. Thanks .. waiting the video
    .

  7. I watched the Bing and Bowie version of this on TV when it first aired. I remember thinking it was madness to combine those two. But, I was wrong again. You two sang this beautifully.….did some of what Bing and Bowie did but added your own signature to the song. I’m starting to think you two can do anything. Mike.

  8. I confess Little Drummer Boy is one of my least favorite contemporary Christmas songs. I listen to a lot of holiday albums this time of year and I always skip over the track…which everyone seems to include. Call me a Grinch. But THIS version….Wow! I couldn’t be more impressed. When you eventually have enough music for your own holiday album (and I’m sure it’s coming) I will NOT be skipping over your Little Drummer Boy.

  9. Got the feeling I was listening in on a Brian Wilson acapello arrangement for what has been a Christmas standard since it was recorded by Bing and Bowie. Love the way you showed the only instruments you ladies need are your voices. Such a delight as usual. Thanks.

  10. What a beautiful rendition of such an iconic Christmas song…and your angelic harmonies and overall production puts me in that seasonal mood..????.. Thankyou for sharing this early Christmas gift with us..????❤️

  11. Wow! Just sublime. Thanks for the early audio Mona and Lisa. Can’t wait for the video. I just know this is going to be at the top of my playlist over the next few weeks. There have been many beautiful renditions of this song, such as the Bowie/Crosby version and the Boney M version from 1981. However, MLT’s version is now my all time favourite!

  12. Oh! Just Captivating! Such a moving rendition. Your vocals are spectacular. I played it several times over. Excellent!

  13. That Bowie/Bing version has always been a staple in our household. Also , I’ve always loved a cappella renditions -when done right- for any song, and in this one the snare drum is also essential (sort of Ravel’s Bolero). So you have combined the best version, in the best way. Fantastic, I love, love, love it!

I also love the great picture! 😉

  14. Bing and David are smiling down on you both for this beautiful rendition. We hope you are releasing it so all the public can hear it this and every holiday season. Merry Christmas!

  15. Little Drummer Boy is my absolute favorite Christmas song, so what a delightful surprise. Your beautiful singing and harmony here does this song great justice. Just love your version. It’s absolutely beautiful. 🙂 Thank you!!!!!!!!!

  16. I went back and listened to the Bing and David version and loved it and and loved yours!! If there’s a better value than membership in the MLT Club- i don’t know what it is. You guys totally nailed this one. What a wonderful thing it is to be your fan!

  17. OMG its beautiful! Gives me chills and so reminiscent of David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Its exactly what I was thinking during the song. I didn’t read the description first. Your voices are like angels on this version. Takes my breath away! Wow! Thanks Ladies!!????????❤❤????

  18. Thank you so much, ladies.
Harmonies as its best, that touch our hearts and souls.
May you both get back all the love you dedicate to your fans to the same extent.

  19. I LOVE IT! I’m going to pa ra pa pum pum all over my house for the next month and a half! Is that Mona on those drums?! And those harmonies! WONDERFUL! Thank you! Hugs!

  20. OMG…that was phenomenally awesome….You gave me goosebumps !!!!…that is definitely the Xmas song for you to do 🙂 <3
