Make Show – Early Access (Video)

It’s a big day tomorrow!

Our album “WHY?” is officially out tomorrow, and to celebrate that we made a video for the opening track “Make Show”!

The video will get published on our official YouTube channel tomorrow but we wanted to pre-release it here in the MLT Club first so you all get to see it at least a day early.

We filmed it throughout this past week and just finished rendering it a few hours ago, so it’s fresh out the oven!

It was fun to capture a little bit of evilness for the video! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. I thought I had already commented on this video but I find that’s not the case. This is a brilliant, Sexy, Seductive, sultry video as was obviously your intent, to tell the story behind this song’s message but doing it visually. For heavens sakes there’s even black dress with cleavage images. The girls have grown up and spreading their creative wings. Algorithm, shmelgorithm we’re going to get you to pay attention. I assume the initial idea was birthed during your trip to Hamburg following in the footsteps of the Beatles Hamburg days when the night club owner and probably even the audience hollered to them to “mach schau” which is German for Make Show. The Beatles with the help of uppers learned to up the ante and give their audience quite a stage performance. Now we have the internet to entertain us and Mach Schau all it wants whether you want it or not. As they peddle their advertisers products and hook you like a fish and reel you in.
Great lyrics to show the whole process along with the visuals to keep your eyes on the prize. Really quite brilliant storytelling if you ask me. It won’t be long before you have all the songs from the “Why” album out with a video and have a DVD to sell to your fans.
Thanks for all the effort you put into the whole musical experience and good luck with sales on the new album. I got my order package with all the Christmas stocking stuffers for the holiday. Staying Groovy.

  2. Hi Dear girls… I’m not fluent in English, so my comments are shorts..about this song and video I say .. They’re fantastic, addictive and mesmerizing .. It’s like being on a Ferris wheel and keep going round and round and wanting more and more.. I loved It Thanks and Stay Groovy.

  3. Your music progress continually. This song has so good groove that it makes me dance and that is a achievement. (LOL Grear drumming and guitar work. The video is great too.

  4. I. Love. This! Once again, I am in awe of your talent and the fact that you have chosen to embark on this journey on your own! This is a brilliant video; slick and edgy along with your ethereal vocals and fantastic musicianship. I know that I have mentioned it before, that I have worked on several music videos in my career here in New York with artists like Rush and Mick Jagger, but while they were cutting edge at the time, they pale in comparison to this. Very well done, ladies. Now go, “Mach schau!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Outstanding! Absolutely outstanding!
Very edgy as is appropriate for the song, with echoes of Joel Gray/Caberet meets the Joker with the sentiments of “Have a Cigar”….BUT…
…it is all original MLT who keep breaking the mould and refuse to be stereotyped. And more power to them, I just love the progression/evolution of them. They went political with “I bought myself a Politician”, whimsical with ” Questionable ” ( a lot of fun, too ) and now defiantly independent with ” Make show”. Great songs, great musicians and vocals and what a wonderful support/production team you have.
Much love and support from the far south coast of Western Australia. ( just waiting for my”package” to arrive then to bliss out on my GOOD sound system. And to invite some friends around )

  6. Since “Make Show” has been officially released, it would now be my walk-up song if I was a major league baseball player. Maybe I can play a verse or two before each class I teach!

  7. This video shows a creativity that I did not know you had. It is different from any other video I have seen and it makes a point about the music business that does not flatter the business and that is just fine. Other than that all I can say is: “brilliant”.

  8. Why? Is one of the best albums that I’ve ever listened to! Mona and Lisa keep getting better and don’t repeat themselves. I place them in the elite category!!
“Make Show” was a great choice for the opening track. I was immediately captivated by the intro. The music and lyrics are perfect as they eloquently and cleverly express how I feel. The world is run by a bunch of clowns and using that motif for the video was brilliant! The makeup also reminds me of those celebrities constantly getting lip filler injections. WE ARE SURROUNDED BY CLOWNS.
Words are inadequate to express the intangible and soul filling effect that their music has on me!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Hi Diana. Love the last sentence describing the affect of their music. Couldn’t agree more. Words are inadequate indeed!

  9. Wow! What a great video for this opening track of the album. I’m assuming the title is a reference to the cries of “Make Show” (in German!) shouted at the Beatles each night in Hamburg by the club owner and it looks great in black and white with its cabaret style! It certainly feels like it was a lot of fun to film. Really loving the album (only listened once so far!) and it’s clear that it’s definitely your best yet!! SO worth it after all this time working on it – MLT forever!

  10. The story goes that Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) left the company that put out their breakthrough “Dreamboat Annie” album because they objected to an ad the company created that played off the album cover showing the bare-shouldered sisters back to back. The ad, with the tagline, “It was our first time!” was a typical act of sexualizing the female artists. It seems that forty years on the struggle continues.

    1. Apparently Elvis never got to perform live and tour abroad in Europe, because the rich Vegas hotel tycoons, and his greedy manager felt it would encroach on their profits. The music industry business just see artists as a cash cow or golden goose to line their pockets.

I love Make Show, YES, thanks for expressing what we all feel Mona and Lisa!

  11. Wow. So good. A Clockwork Orange with a touch of Cabaret and so much more yet it still comes off as totally Mona Lisa Twins. Maria and I love it.

  12. “Stick it, corporate record industry, we are the MonaLisa Twins!”

You know what the people want, on your own terms!

You are getting it done with dignity; professionalism; and, of course, your ability and hard work!

    Much, much admiration and respect!

Woolgoose Records rules the free world!

  13. I knew this song had a lot of work that went into it, and now with a great video it’s even better. If someone didn’t like Mona’s smile before this video you just HAVE to now! lol I couldn’t put my finger on what was different in this song but it’s the Stratocaster. Thanks for all the effort you put into not just this song but the whole album. I have listen to it many times already and after a long wait I was not disappointed. Im really enjoying the entire package I received this week. I offer you my sincerest thanks!

  14. I love the song and the video!
The makeup was great (just in time for Halloween). There was no mistaking Lisa, but Iโ€™m still not sure that other person was Mona. The wonderful harmonies tell me youโ€™re both present and accounted for!

  15. This was definitely filmed in NightmareVision! One can almost see the sinister puppeteer, smiling menacingly with dollar signs (or pound signs) in his eyes, as he pulls the strings on the hapless marionettes.

  16. Like a lead-off hitter in baseball both the song and the video for “Make Show” sets the tone. Everything about the video was done in an outstanding manner and the message is clearly evident.

I have set it so many times, but your recent releases which ended up on the album show the growth of you both as musicians and as individuals. Well-done!

Thank you for creating a video so quickly for one of my favorite songs on the album. I am certain that the general release will provide you with nothing but extremely positive feedback!

  17. Great, Great video!!!!! Congrats!!!! I was almost expecting the Joker, HA! You guys are so cool and talented! Great licks on the strat Lisa and I think that was you on the drums, really, really great!!!! Your entire family has such an imagination!! The Production was superb!! Bravo!!! Happy Halloween!!!!

  18. love the song love the video. you had already expressed these views of the music industry before. wondering where you got the title. i remember the beatles talking about it when they were playing hamburg. the owner of the club they were playing at would shout it at them. lennon would make fun of how he said it. can’t wait for more.

  19. I wondered why you picked this song for your opening track. Now I see it’s an introduction to the Sweet Twins story of independents.. In an, In your face, up yours record industry, kind of way. Well done and very clever. Can only imagine how you must be harassed by those people. The new Why album will put them in the rearview mirror. Be sure to wave at them from the Grammy Stage, or don’t…

  20. My cd package is on its way, and thatโ€™s ok, cuz I just got my Halloween treat in your new video! Dark, creepy, funny and it fits โ€œMake Showโ€ perfectly. Is there no end to your imagination?!? My new favorite video. At least until the next one comes outโ€ฆ..

  21. Hi Mona and Lisa!
Oh my GOD the video is absolutely fantastic! The choreography is just top notch superb. I’ve always said you both are awesome actresses, and you both shined like superstars here. I’ve never seen clown faces so gorgeous before. The drumming is just stellar in this song, and it was awesome to see Mona doing the drums to kick off the song in the video, and loved those wonderful guitar shots Lisa.

Each time I hear Make Show, the more I am mesmerized by it, your vocals and harmonies are so dynamic, rich and beautiful, and the song has such a modern new sound all your own, love it. The instrumentation is out of this world, those attention grabbing awesome drums, and I can’t get enough of the guitar (chord) progressions, it sounds so wonderful. This song gets in my head and the captivating melody keeps pulling me back. This song, like the rest of the album, is cutting edge modern music with the most brilliant composition and music effects that tugs at the emotions in the most wonderful way. I JUST LOVE IT!
Thank you so much for so much joy! Your talents are soaring! I’m impressed beyond words. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’›โค๐ŸŽ–
Big hugs! Thank you, thank you!!!

  22. This reminds me of a couple of songs ABBA did, โ€œGet on the Carouselโ€
    https://youtu.be/2gCsdj8e0sg
    and โ€œIโ€™m a Marionette.โ€
    https://youtu.be/g8iRjYJ4dLU
Ostensibly part of a fictional โ€œmini musicalโ€ theyโ€™re actually a somewhat autobiographical look at getting chewed up by the music industry machinery. Pity there doesnโ€™t seem to be a good video of these songs as performed, just snippets from concerts the group did in Australia in 1977 that went into โ€œABBA: The Movie,โ€ a fictionalized account of a real band on tour performing a fictional musical about their real lives.

  23. I just received my CD so not too far into it yet, but this is my favorite track. This video could not have been better conceived, it has a fluidity that ebbs and flows with the rhythm section, great bass line and some of the best drum work Mona has ever offered! Cool angles, spot on edit, and cannot wait too see what’s next. I don’t know WHY that would be, though. You see what I did there…

  24. Ground-breaking, REVOLUTIONARY, addictive, SUPERB videography! I was sold on the song and entire album before this video dropped, but now….WOW!!! I’m with all the other clubbers hoping for a “making of” vid, but to take it a step further, I really hope you’ll offer a “making of ‘WHY?’ album videos” DVD like the one you did for WWT. You’ve already got a pretty good start! This is SOOOOO much better than anything from MTV or VH1 back in the day! Nice to see Rudolf (or at least his bassist hands) get in on the action! Did you sneak Michaela in there somewhere? I couldn’t tell for sure.

  25. WOW. I love it. It’s amazing how you keep coming out with great music and videos. I just got the cd. I ordered another one for my friend. Once again thank you, thank you for the music.

  26. This song and video really are a piece of art!! Song is catchy and the video is full of funny and sometimes scary changings, well done team MLT!!!

  27. Son! This music video has left me without words!. I am reminded of the Joker or maybe Alex from Clockwork Orange. But I still see your humor in it. I think you guys are arriving at a new level of creativity. I got the CD Tuesday, and haven’t stopped playing. My only complaint is that I can make up my mind up which song I like best. In a “real world” this is a Grammy winner. Lottsa luv to ya. Peace be.

  28. I’ve only just begun to fully absorb and appreciate how amazing this song is musically and now this video puts it over the moon! Unbelievable production! Totally enchanting! You girls have undeniably arrived at a new level of artistic expression. This is both captivating and scrumptious. There is simply nothing the two of you can’t achieve and I am beside myself in anticipation with what more is coming!!!

  29. I’ve caught myself humming this tune since first hearing it in audio-only. It is wowcool to have mental images to go along with this catchy number. It feels like it would be a hoot to see this live. Mach schau! Make Show!!

  30. Phenomenal! What an amazing depiction of the crazy clown-show in the political/social world these days.
Here’s to this one goes viral (in the best way possible!)

  31. OMG !! AWESOME what a way to kickstart a new release and itโ€™s a killer song to lead off the CDโ€ฆ.Beautiful video..great job to all 4 of you WOWโค๏ธ๐Ÿงก

  32. WOW..WOW…..and WOW…what an incredibly beautifully compiled opening track, coupled with an equally outstanding yet stunning video…the layered vocals/harmonies and driving backbeat set the tone from the opening Bassline…sheer brilliance….you’ve set the bar very high for yourselves with this..

  33. Hello Ladies,
Wow what a big change from Mona! Completely threw me off.
Such a wonderful opening number. So entertaining. One can tell how much fun you two had making such an incredible video.
    Thanks Ladies,
    Best to each of you
    Rick

  37. WOW! Awesome video, excellent with outstanding music with the artistic work of black and white lighting video.โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

  38. Watched it twice already and I must say it’s terrific!! So original, artistic and haunting. Must have been a great deal of fun making it. Kudos to all involved.

  39. Hello my beautiful and talented MLT! I’ve been trying to wait till I got home to listen to the cd that’s sitting at home of the tracks we didn’t hear. Oh well, I had to watch. I love a good black and white. Reminds me of my early youth. The different make up kind of reminds me of Cabaret or a little Rocky Horror. Mimes are scarey! Lol I love the bassline and always love playing with time. In my day I couldn’t count that stuff out. Had to feel it to get it tight. Love the drums of course and the solo guitar. I’ll be sending this to my friend reactor tomorrow. Sunday I sponsored a Beatles cover you did of a 1964 song. The feel puts me back when my Mother took us to the bar with her in the 60s and I spoke to the adults. I has a severe speech impediment and kids made fun. Best speech therapy I ever received. Was feeling melancholy. Lol he’ll do it on Sunday if anyone is interested. I love this very much.Trying not to spoil my surprise waiting for me. Lol Love you all. Peace. Stay safe. Stay Groovy! ๐ŸŒนโค๏ธ๐Ÿค˜

  40. WOW!!!! That is something else! A bit “spooky” yet so amazing at the same time! People are going to LOVE this video! The visuals are SPECTACULAR (Spooktacular?)! I love seeing Mona grooving on the ride cymbal and snare too! Well done ladies!!! Love it!

  41. Well that got my attention! I donโ€™t think I blinked once during the whole video. Powerful and compelling from the first note to the last frame, it grabbed my brain and still hasnโ€™t let go!

  42. 1) Ladies – this is the most provocative statement you have ever made.
    2) How appropriate in a world careening off the rails being managed by the very few.
    3) A little too ghoulish for me but it is Halloween.
I am looking forward to the Christmas zoom-get-together. Cheers

  43. Congradulations Mona and Lisa for another outstanding video and song! There is so much to say but simply put ? Awsome! The cool thing is , that this video is different and shows your humor and talent beyond our dreams. Wow , love it, great song to open the new album with. Hugs and love from
Bill and Maddie Isenberg Huge Fans from Pittsburgh pa usa

  44. Whoa, that was KickButt TopNotch #MLTBuzzLuvGroovified Brilliant Fab … Kudos on this, the ambience, etc perfectly compliments the vivid Poignancy and Profoundness of the song, all of it intertwines, well done in makeup/outfits too… I see essences of Maxwell Hammer, The Joker, IT Clown, lol… Ode to Halloween Tone too…. Throughly Impressive, come upon the official release on YouTube , this is going to explode with Postivity Outcome of Feedback , I can for sure sense it …. ๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค˜

  45. Awesome is an overused word, but what else can you say? Every time The MonaLisa Twins post a new video, (the last one was Questionable), they more than outdo themselves, (and surprise us all), with originality and creativity. All of this in the context of their “cottage industry”. The big production houses should take note.

  46. Fantastic video I love the imagery in it and i just love it well done mona lisa you’re fabulous i love the Album why my husband and I cant stop.playing it
