Globe – Giveaway

Globetrotters …

It’s time for a new Giveaway!

As we’re cutting together the “Behind the Scenes” video for our “I Bought Myself A Politician” music video, we had to sit through what felt like hours of Lisa trying to get this one shot right … Kicking a blow-up “globe” beach ball directly towards the camera.

The shot was used in the first chorus (watch it here), and as you’ll be able to see in next Friday’s video, it took us many, many takes to get right.

But it also gave us an idea for a new Giveaway!

We have kept a few of the props from this video shoot (including the beach ball) for us to sign and give away to some of you.

How to enter the Giveaway:

As a prompt we thought we’ll mix up what we usually do and make it a guessing game. You have to guess the right answer and out of those that get it right we’ll draw a lucky winner.

While looking at the blow-up globe we had a ponder … how many countries on planet earth have we visited so far? It took us a while to add them all up but we were surprised by the number. So now it is your turn to guess …

How many countries have the two of us been to so far (transit countries not included)?

Since some of you in the comments have been wondering whether to count Wales as an individual country, let’s just agree to stick with this list only. So no, Wales doesn’t count and yes, we will add our home country Austria to the list ????

Just write your answers in the comments below!

It’s not going to be entirely possible to find out the exact number by looking at past MLT Club content but you will be able to find some clues in the various photo and news post. Which is why we will give you a 3 number leeway in either direction.

Amongst those who guess correctly (+/- 3) we’ll draw three winners by the end of the month. The winners will get a signed video prop from our latest music video shoot.

Also, feel free to add your own number (and/or names) of countries visited to your comment below. It’s not required to enter the competition but we’d love to learn more about you, too!

Good luck and happy guessing ♥

  1. My guess is 23 countries for Mona and Lisa.

In my brief search for clues, I found a very subtle one, which probably means it is not a clue at all. In one of the home movie segments in the “Two Of Us” video, Mona and Lisa are wearing Cyprus tee shirts. I normally wouldn’t put much faith in tee shirts worn by two-year-olds with underwear on their heads, but I decided to add Cyprus to my imagined list. I’ll be interested to see if they actually ever visited Cyprus.

My total is 33 countries. The relatively high number is mainly because I had an airline career, although that meant that I spent little more than a day in some of those countries. Austria is one of the countries I could not count because I only transited the Vienna airport several times in the mid 1990’s, but never got outside the terminal building. I do hope to make it back at some point for a proper visit.

  2. I am going to guess the two of you have visited 10 countries. As for me, only 2. The US and Canada. I am hoping to be able to travel to Europe, Australia and New Zealand in the future.

  3. This is the fourth time I’ve changed my guess (I just noticed the list). I’m going with 22. I’ve been to lucky 13. Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Canada, France, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, UK and US (40 states).

  4. My guess is 7 for Mona and Lisa. For me it’s 4 countries so far but since I’ve been to 44 out of the 50 states in the USA that’s plenty of travel in this country that is about as big as they come.

  5. I was in 12 countries: Germany (land of birth), Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Danmark, England, Canada and the USA. I think you have seen 13 nations of the world.

  6. I’ll guess 17. I’ve been to 11: USA (home), Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Caymans, Bahamas, UK (England and Northern Ireland), Ireland, Germany, Australia and Turkey.

  7. I’m going with 17 countries visited by Mona & Lisa.
I was myself born in Germany, visited Holland and Austria (!) lived in Singapore, back to England, then hols in Spain. Would like to visit Egypt & Norway.

  8. Hello Ladies,
I have no idea how many countries you both have been to, but let’s see,
I will guess 21 as there are several in and around Austria and England. Even if you may not have spent anytime there, if you passed thru, that should count right?
As for me, 1 here in the US. 21 states.
Thanks for the fun guessing game.
I dont imagined i will win, but I had fun and thats what it’s all about.

  9. You keep coming up with the GROOVIEST prizes! I think these will be a (kinda) close second to the original “Janitor Joe” artwork prizes in desirability! I’ve only ventured out of the states once: a rather tame day trip to Point Pelee National Park in Canada when I was vacationing in Dearborn, Michigan. I just had to drive my folks into Canada while we were that close, and back then, no passports were needed. My favorite number for many reasons is 13, so I hope it proves lucky in this instance, so I’ll guess that, although I fear it may be low. Thanks, team MLT, for another COOL contest!

  10. My bet is ” 14 ” .. Hi dear Mona and Lisa,
I know you have visited the following countries United States, Australia , Germany , Spain ( Canary Islands), Ireland, Finland, Wales , England.. can we count Austria ? and to say my guess is that you have visited 14 countries in this wonderful world. What’s your owl’s name? for me to ask her to help my luck ???????? Thank you.. and Stay groovy

  11. My guess is 17 countries. I have not traveled much outside the United States, the only other country I have been to is Canada. I have been to 32 out of 50 states in the USA. So, that sounds a little better. Ha-Ha.

  12. My guess is 12, including Austria, or 11 if Austria shouldn’t be included.

I have been to 5 countries including USA, Canada, Mexico, Grand Cayman (U.K.), and Jamaica.

  13. I’m going to go with 15, since I’m sure it’s at least 12. Technically I’ve been to 7, all near the U.S. However, Puerto Rico seems like it’s own country, so I suppose I could say 8. When my wife retires, we plan to visit some European countries including Austria.

  14. My guess is 10.
I’m certainly going to need that +/-3 leeway 🙂
As for me, most of my overseas holidays are (were :() to visit family and friends, so the number isn’t that high, but I’ve been multiple times.
England, Isle Of Man, USA and New Zealand are on my list.

  16. Hi Mona and Lisa, what a groovy and fun giveaway draw. You are keeping us on our toes! On the video Lisa kicked that globe like a seasoned soccer player regardless of how many practice shots were needed, way to go! Impressed me.

For the number of countries you both visited, if we exclude your native Austria, my best guesstimate would be 13. This includes a couple you just briefly stepped foot in that I am aware of, but technically counts as having been there I would think. That is impressive, and hope you both get to visit many, many more in your adventures.

For myself, I’ve been to only 5. They are USA, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Mexico. I had a tendency to visit the same places (California) over the years, so I need to expand my horizons and visit more far off lands, and see what it’s like across the big pond one day!  🙂 Even though I was born in Korea, Canada always felt like my home country since I Ieft Korea when I was two (the year the Beatles released Rubber Soul), and returned for a visit when I was 32, and it feels like a foreign country when I do visit. The fact I can’t read any Korean, although I can speak it, must have something to do with it as all the signs look foreign to me, and the Koreans I sometimes try to speak Korean to get confused as I tend to mix some occasional Japanese words in there thinking it is Korean or some really old 60s Korean words that no one uses any more. My parents who both grew up in Japan mixed some Japanese words with the Korean which is how I learned my Korean.

Looking forward to the behind the scenes video, and the end of the month draw (fingers crossed and salt flicked over my shoulders). 🙂

  17. Judging by your posts and time in Australia and US, I would guess 18.

My total so far is 35: UK (counted as one but England,Scotland,Wales,Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey and Falklands visited), Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Eire, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Italy, Vatican, Israel, Greece, Morocco, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, China(mainland and Hong Kong), Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam,Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Chile, Argentina and Iceland.

Only another 160 or so to go!

  18. I count 10. I have only ventured across the northern border into Canada. If I ever make it across the pond it would be for an MLT show, or two, or three…

I’m still curious about how many kicks it took for Lisa to get it right. Or how many times she said,” I’ll get it this time. S#*t! One more time?”

  19. I’ll guess 25.

I have yet to venture outside of the U.S., but like Tim I’m hoping to visit every state, and then I’ll feel qualified to travel abroad. So far I’ve been to 43 of the 48 contiguous ones, having taken several long road trips for the sole purpose of collecting states. An eventual drive to the northwest will take care of the last five. My daughter recently moved to Seattle, so I have additional motivation now.

Wait, I once saw Toronto from a plane as I flew from Boston to Chicago. Does that count?

I hope the winner of the globe beach ball sees it delivered by means of Lisa’s foot kicking it down the street.

  20. I’m going to guess at 20 …. and the only area I’ve ever visited outside Canada was about 35-40yrs ago, Dad and I on a daytrip for shopping in Ogdensburg, NY ( Watertown-Rochester/Syracuse/Oswego areas of New York State ) and I’ve been to Oswego NY to watch car races 2-3 x as a kid… and within Canada , I’ve been to Toronto, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Kingston, and various other towns/cities in that corridor between Hamilton-Ottawa-Montreal areas… in Quebec, I ‘ve been to Montreal, Rigaud, Gatineau, Chelsea, Low, Luskville, Quyon, and some other little towns in Quebec, Dad loved to go driving, and we’d spend many Sarurdays/Sundays on drives…..????

    1. Oh, and I live in the US, I’ve been to Mexico, Canada, German, Great Britain, and Scotland. Some people here in the state’s capital consider West Virginia another country since it’s so weird there, and I have been there too. Total states in the US I have been to is 25. I aim to get to all of them. I am planning to go back to Scotland or to Bavaria hopefully next year , plus I want to visit Slovakia, Austria, Romania, Mexico (again), and Canada (again) once covid gets under control. I’m retired now so I have the time.

      1. And you can visit me in Ottawa….lol , can see Jung out on west coast….lol we’ll wear our MLT gear so we can recognize each other and be #MLTBuzzLuvGroovified ????

  21. Hello Mona and Lisa so my guess is 14. And Maddie’s guess is 16, so hope one of us is close.
