Good Day Sunshine – Duo Session

Good day to you!

If you’re living in the northern hemisphere like us, you’re quite possibly in desperate need for some sun rays.

We can’t change the weather quite yet (we’re working on it though … Lisa was staring at a cloud last week and it seemed to move away quicker than the rest) but we can at least put the heating on in the studio and sing about warmer days.Time for another Duo Session Beatles cover …

Paul McCartney said he had written this after hearing The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Daydream” which is another song we adore (and covered!). Do you hear the similarities? Two happy, chirpy, feel-good tracks full of melody!

We hope you’re having a cheerful day,
Mona & Lisa

  1. This is beautiful! Marvelously precise playing, and two very lovely players! Thanks so much for your music. Is that the best Beatles album or what? ❤️❤️

  2. Not sure how I missed finding and listening to this song for so long. Wonderfully done as always. I think I’ve run out of ways to describe how I feel when listening to the two of you. Certainly nothing short of spectacular. Beautiful back and forth on the vocals and deftly done guitar work on a tricky melody.

  3. The video isn’t loading, I’ve tried three different Browsers and it’s just the picture with the circled play symbol. meh

  4. OMG Such a great job covering this tune of Good Day Sunshine and in the same key as the original! Coolest part was Was thinking how you would cover the piano parts and much to my surprise, you did it in a huge way. The little riffs and again the harmonies are pitch perfect! Yes this does bring some sun and believe it or not?? It was raining when I Started to listen to this and guess what? Sun is out!! Thank you ladies, it is a good day sunshine in Pittsburgh Pa USA

  5. Superb, you girls are special you bring joy and happiness in all your performances. Music and entertainment at it’s very best.

  6. Wow, your best duo session so far. Great harmonies in the same key as the original Beatles tune. Great solos from Lisa imitating the original piano parts. A song so fit for you two, happy shiny and optimistic. I loved how you divided the singing parts so each of your individual voice is clearly heard ,
and then your sing again in harmony so fit together.
You should collect all your best duo sessions and issue an album (I bet you thought about it already…)
And another idea for a song: “Good morning Starshine” (from “Hair” movie).

  7. Sorry I’m so late to this party but its never too late to watch and listen to you two phenoms. One of my very very favorite Beatles tunes and you made it better! (like you do “all the time”). You two shine so bright you could light up a massive black hole. Love you!

  8. Do Paul & Ringo know of you I wonder?? I think they would be very pleased!! I’m sure it would be a dream come true for the both of you. Keep it coming girls!!

  9. It’s Summer here. It’s rainy now, but it’s always sunny when you sing with yours smiles. A very happy song, it always changes my mood, since the 60s, when I heard it for first time. Maybe it is the first cover of this song I’ve ever seen.

  10. Great cover once again. Always liked this song. Lot’s of Jazz artists like to perform it.
Did people know that a high profile music magazine reviewer put this song down as the worst in the Beatles entire catalogue! Hope he lost his job. Opinions allowed but to regard this as the worst of their entire output is ridiculous. I love this take. The Grooviest Girls do it again.

  11. Wow! Geezer, what an amazing version of a great song! Good way to start the day, or great way to get in a better mood if your day hasn’t started well. Awesome cover.
I hope you both have a GREAT DAY!!
Lots of love and good wishes!?❤?

  12. Its funny, here in Vancouver after 2 straight weeks of rain and massive down pour last night, its bright and sunny this morning and this MLT acoustic Good Day Sunshine could not be more perfect! Such a brilliant performance!

  13. Good Day Sunshine! It’s been raining here non-stop, and it’s midnight, but the sun just came out and it’s shining bright! ??
    Loveliness guaranteed!
What was that quote by Robert Schumann?

  14. If it’s any consolation to you two we have seen the sunshine here (mid-western USA) in over a week ourselves. I’m sure it isn’t any consolation but at least we have something in common that ties us together beside music. Always a favorite Beatles tune. Your arrangement is excellent and the harmonies are capital. I notice Mona is ready for spring by wearing a colorful sleeveless top. Great guitar work by both of you. Wishing you both a “Good Day Sunshine ?” soon. It’s good for what ails ya. ??

  15. A superb rendition of a great tune. Love the harmonies and the guitar lick by Lisa. I do really enjoy the Beatles songs sung by you. Thank you.

  16. Nice 45º Røde effect. Out of the 300 or so Beatles tunes, you could count them all up and perhaps at least half of them would have this vocal duet feature to them, which is ideal for MonaLisa Twins covers of Beatles tunes. In the “Good Day Sunshine” vocals , it sounds like a 3-way John/Paul/George harmony set to both the far left and far right, with an additional double-tracked Paul vocal effect placed in the center. Given that, it’s great to further explore Mona and Lisa vocals. The reason I mention this is it opens up a lot of possibilities having the stereo effect coupled with vocal duets characteristic of the MLT.

  17. Another good song that shows your versatility. I enjoyed Mona’s singing and Lisa putting in the traditional guitar licks for this one. Mike.

  18. Another fantastic Beatles cover! Your harmonies really suit the Fab Four’s songs. I found you when I was looking for the 50 year Abbey Road remasters on YouTube. Beautiful job!!! ☮️?

  19. Oh… Thankyou for covering these fave childhood song I enjoyed as a kid growing up in the 70s, continue to enjoy…. Indeed brightened up my dreary Friday as it was cloudy most of the day… Your sunshine was what I needed… I love your idea of getting daily Vitamin D Sunshine… The Groovy MLTBuzz Tuneful way???… Most appreciated, cheered me up!!

  20. No shortage of sunshine here in sunny Queensland but you still manage to brighten up any day. Keep them coming. ?❤️

  21. Truly spirit-lifting, thanks, although something seemed a little off…and then I realized Lampibampi wasn’t present. I suppose the Advent calendar wrapped and then it was off to the Caribbean…

  22. Well, I’m writing from the sunny (and somewhat rainy) Rio de Janeiro. But this version captures the style of the original song. You two manage to bring together all the atmosphere and sounds that we hear on vinyl. The vocals are beautiful and Lisa’s interventions on “piano and guitar” were great. Well done girls.

  23. vocals are fantastic, i’vealready said this but you should consider doing an ‘unplugged’ album. You give the songs you own unique style, great harmonies, Unplugged albums were huge in the 90’s , I’m sure yor Dad will remember them, thanks for this great version

  24. Well I needed that. We’re still about 6 months out from seeing any sunshine in the Pacific Northwest (consistently anyway). What we have now is grey, cold and drizzle. Thanks for a bit of musical sunshine to brighten a dreary winter’s day.

  25. Outstanding Ladies! Once again you have outdone yourself.
You can hear the distinction between tour two voices , yet they sound the same when you harmonize. ?
Superbly done and when you mix in the magical formula that is uniquely The MonaLisa Twins the results are astonishing!
Thank you ladies for bringing a warmth of fresh air on this rainy cold day.
Look for a special post from me Wednesday
    Rick

  26. Just heard your “Good Day Sunshine” video. I have heard The Lovin’ Spoonful song Daydream. Both songs are considered happy go lucky tunes. I never thought of the similarities until you brought this up. Somewhere in my audio files, I have a bootleg version of The Beatles recording “Daydream” As they’re figuring out the guitar chords you can hear Lennon saying “damn tunesmiths!”

  27. This is terrific ladies…Keep up the good work..It is a true pleasure to know there are artists still out there that appreciate the heritage

  28. Absolutely fabulous, and I love it ! (pun) 🙂
The Fab Four were the best band ever and, as always, you two do them justice !
Have a great day MLT, you never fail to brighten up mine….Jeffrey Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

  29. One of my favorite McCartney creations from “Revolver”, and you execute it so well. One of my pleasures is to watch Lisa’s fingering on the keyboard, yet I similarly enjoy listening to Mona dig into the lyrics. Your original music is “getting better all the time”, but you absolutely kill your covers!

  30. I love it. A truly wonderful rendition of a classic Beatles song you two get better everytime what ever you two do you do it well you’re amazing

  31. Wonderful performance Mona and Lisa!
Amazing and happy way to start the day with your beautiful voices and exquisite guitar work. Love the cover of Daydream as well – tough to choose between Lisa on guitar or ukulele. Thanks for making a Sunshine day!

  32. I can feel the rays of sunshine on this last wet day of the rainiest January on record here. Oh those fantastic harmonies, absolutely love it, and Lisa your intricate guitar work is outstanding! I can certainly feel the similarities with Daydream. Both your covers are superb! ???❤
Thanks for this slice of summer heaven.

  33. OMG…….it just keeps getting better all the time. So cool. Is that a special kind of “ring” on Lisa’s left hand???
Watched the Grammy’s the other night. You guys are hands down so much better than most of the performances that night.
    Thanks guys

  34. Beautiful cover of one of my favourite Beatles songs. Actually i`m not just also in the northern hemisphere, but where i live in Denmark, is exactly the same as Liverpool, and so is the weather, cloudy and rain

  35. Perfect timing. I just sat down at my computer to plan a vacation trip and thought I would check the club first. I am glad I did. I am now thinking of sunshine and vacation. Thank you for another fantastic Duo Session. It is a good day.

  36. Brilliant… as usual. Loved the way you took turns singing a line and then sang together. Your harmonies are always so great. Wonderful song selection for a duo session. Thank you for bringing so much sunshine into our lives.

  37. Looking gloomy in Minnesota too,The weather man says sun maybe Sunday. Thank you for the Sunshine Ladies. You always Brighten the Day! Good Day to You Two Too.
