A Half Marathon Through the Mud – Out & About

Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles …

… 13.1 to be precise. That’s the length of this half marathon through the British Woods that we had signed up to. It was going to get cold, muddy, miserable and fun. … Wait … Fun?
Yes, the miserable sort of fun 😉

If we were going to suffer through this, at least we would make a video out of it. Normally we prefer posting more music-related things here in the Club, but we thought that ever so often it might be fun or interesting for you to see some other things we get up to.

Challenges like that make staying active much more enjoyable, and they make for experiences and memories you won’t forget. It’s also the more acceptable way for adults to play in the dirt!

What’s also funny is, that at the very same time we were struggling to make it through the muddy half marathon course in just under 4 hours, athlete Eliud Kipchoge was making history by breaking the 2-hour world record for a FULL marathon back in our home town Vienna.

Pfff … but did he get a revitalizing hair and skin mud treatment during his race? Exactly, … we don’t think so! 😉

Below you can find a few more photos from the event! We hope you all had a fantastic week and send lots of peace and love,

Mona & Lisa

  1. OMG! Seeing a new side to you too! Must admit that doesn’t look like fun to me, but was nice to see you both smiling through all that mud and freezing water.

  2. That’s very funny – instead of a mud pack on your face you get one everywhere else!

Still waiting for the cover of Muddy Waters but your cover of Bulldog is one of my favourites!

  3. Good grief! I’m glad you took on this challenge with such verve (whatever “verve” is). Wouldn’t try it at my age!

  4. Incredible. I always thought that mud run was done in the British detective series only, like the Midsomer Murders. My running days are done, but I’m keen on winter bicycling and cross country skiing (hoping for snow in January 2021…). The feeling afterwards is so good.

  5. Mona and Lisa, you two just delight me. You make me feel young again. I just love your energy, your zest for life and the affection you have for each other … it is such a beautiful thing to see …

  6. Watching you both wading through the mud, it reminds me of when I was a kid and I lost my brand new boots in knee deep mud. I wonder how many people on that run lost their runners or worse other garments.

  7. Adding up you two, you did a whole marathon. People say that, some mud is good to skin. So, I think you will be forever young.

  8. Oh wow, you both looked so natural and like pros there with Lisa doing the mud face paint thing like a native warrior of the woods, and Mona submerging yourself completely in the muddy water like Rambo!
That looked so incredibly fun and super challenging at the same time. It looks like that mud just sucks you right down if you try to run through it.
From jumping out of planes to doing “Iron Woman” kind of marathons, blazing through the tough terrain and mud, I can see you both are two wonderfully adventurous ladies, love it!
You both inspire me to go do something exhilarating like that! Thanks so much for sharing that day with us all. That was so cool and fun to watch!

  9. I never ran through mud and water, but I ran a half marathon with sleet pelting my face the whole time. My face was numb by the time I finished. I was miserable. I can’t imagine running one like the one you just ran. I am impressed! Great job. And, congratulations!! ????

  10. Great video.
No doubt that hot shower when you got home was the best you’ve ever had!

By the way, at the beginning of the video you were on the wrong sides. Please don’t let it happen again 🙂

  11. Hi Dear girls.. on the musical side we know your qualities.. now.. I love to see this personal side of you.. you besides beautiful are very fun.. the more I see about you more I admire!.. Stay groovy (and running)

  12. I love these kinds of photos from you guys. I vote for more of same. You both look positively gleeful standing in that pond.

  13. You noodle heads. Reminds me of mud racing in the swamps in my youth. If your vehicle had any clean spots on it it was considered shameful. You’re correct that fans want a glance of you all doing the normal things in your normal lives. Can’t all be staged scenes from you showbiz career. And now for something entirely different….

  14. Lisa, you have always been an inspiration with your running. It was good to see Mona joining you on this occasion. I hope all the mud and water hasn’t put her off continuing in the future. I Just wish I had younger knees so I could continue my passion for long-distance running also. How you manage to run and film at the same time amazes me. Well done!

  15. Well, for sure now, we know Mona & Lisa will get down and dirty to get the job done! Very proud of you both for your grit and determination. It was entertaining and reminded me of a job I had when I was about your age. I walked the same type of terrain with cables and sensors exploring for oil. Thanks for sharing!

  16. You guys are as cute as 2 hummingbirds at the feeder. It’s always a joy seeing all your different interest. Keep em coming!!!

  17. CONGRATULATIONS LADIES! Looks like you had a blast!
Was this the same one Lisa ran Last year?
Looks similar to the course that Lisa was on a few months back. (Still shot of Lisa during race)
I’m sure you will be finding mud and such for a few weeks. ?
Mona looks like she enjoyed her impromptu dip in the water. (Were you looking for a creature to put in Lisa’s hair??) and Lisa getting a hearty laugh.
Great pictures and thanks ever so much for sharing with us.

  18. Of course, we like to see you in good physical shape and fighting for your challenges. Those pictures changes us from the bad habits (sex and drugs and rock and roll …) to which the rock stars have accustomed us. It’s reassuring for your future. Continue like that!

  19. Lol… OK… Now cue up Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and the “Chariots of Fire Song” and my buddy Alan Frew’s (Glass Tiger) song “I Believe” that he wrote for the Winter Olympics some years ago… Kudos to you both for taking the challenge of this half marathon upon yourselves… You have the inspiration , stamina, determination and Fab sense of humour and adventure to fulfill this quest with utmost strength and heart?
