Sightseeing in Hamburg – “The City” – Photos

During our week-long trip to Hamburg in February we filmed a few videos (like our beatley vlogs – Part 1 and Part 2). But we also made sure to spend a bit of time simply taking in the beauty of the city and visit all the touristy spots. While strolling through the streets, enjoying the architecture and Venice-type canals we could soak in the town’s atmosphere and prim beauty.

The industrial brick buildings from the last century and harbour area (more photos of that coming next week) reminded us of Liverpool while other parts of the city feels very European and in parts even Viennese or Parisian.

It seems like none of us will be travelling anywhere anytime again soon so we hope this virtual city trip can be a slight substitute πŸ˜‰

Big hugs to all of you!

  1. I know I am a little late for this picture show, but who took the pics of the seagulls? These are all fantastic. Thanks for sharing them.

  2. These are some gorgeous pictures. I’ve never been to Hamburg so these are very interesting as well as scenic. Some wonderful pictures of the whole family too, always a treat! Thanks for sharing. PS: I can’t wait to see/hear whatever project you guys went there to do!

    1. BTW, Did you manage to get a picture of the evil virus that’s been causing all the trouble?! The last photo looks like it might be it!

  3. Interesting architecture indeed. So many windows!!! Love the brickwork when they don’t depend on Steel and Glass. Glad you had a good time and thanks for the peek of the sites. Better than Google street view if they even allow that in Germany.

  4. Beautiful City – not that different to Birmingham UK, also a “Music City” – often overlooked but when you hear “Duran Duran” “Led Zepplin” “Black Sabbath” “The Move” ” ELO” “Moody Blues” “Wings” and so many more think of BIRMINGHAM – “The Heart Of The Nation” we also have great canals

    1. Yes Skip, agree that I thought this was our Birmingham down by the canals in parts! Mind you I think the architecture of Hamburg, as captured by the perspective of these most creatively well set stunning photos, is far classier on the whole….. Full of character as are the MLT crew too of course!

    2. You’re right, there is absolutely a similarity to Birmingham. The first time we visited we were pleasantly surprised by the picturesque canals and architecture. We didn’t expect that from a city in the middle of the island! Unfortunately, we were caught in the rain, and so we extended our sightseeing to the interiors of the Museum & Art Gallery.

  5. Wonderful photography! Papa Rudi is a genius with the camera and video! Nice to see Michaela in the pictures. She could be your sister!

    1. Yes, wonderful photography indeed. While Papa Rudi is indeed a genius with the videos and photography, I think a lot of the artistic photography here in this set is kudos to Lisa’s skills. A few shots give clues I think. πŸ™‚

  6. Great photos, thanks for posting. A lovely city by the looks. Love all the waterways.
I liked the Mona and Lisa dogs πŸ™‚

    1. Good catch there Darryl on the “Mona and Lisa dogs”. Didn’t dawn on me until I went back and noticed it’s placement with those Mona and Lisa candy bears pictures. So clever! πŸ™‚

  7. The photography was excellent and loved seeing the different sides of Hamburg – very cool city.
Nice portraits of each family member and some nice pictures of the Mummager!
    Thanks for the virtual tour!

  8. Whoa, loved all the intriguing and detailed photography captured here, essences of Hamburg clearly comes through, I enjoyed all, especially the dizzy staircase view… Lol… And the scientific looking electrical currents thingamajiggy stuff…. Lovely photos of each of you too…. Most enlightening and visually mesmerizing, Thankyou for sharing the many facets of Hamburg, historically, in the present, ambience, etc. ????

  9. Wow, the more I flipped through the slide show the photography blows my socks off! This isn’t just some everyday sightseeing photos, but rather art, professional grade like you see in some of those photography books. What awesome city scape shots and impressive eye for perspective, symmetry, and pattern. Some beautiful portraits shots too! Hamburg certainly boasts magnificent architecture with so much character and beauty, especially around the waterways, and your impressive photography amplified it’s beauty and magnificence even more! It looks like Hamburg boasts some interesting music instrument shops too, guitars, pianos etc. Thanks for such a fantastic visual treat, really enjoyed that! πŸ™‚
