Here Comes The Sun – Duo Session

Little Darling,

Has there ever been a more hopeful song? How appropriate for the current situation, in many ways. We hope you are all well!We learned this tune on guitar many, many years ago and even attempted to record it in Australia back in 2009. Some of you might remember the two videos we filmed at Ayers Rock in the Outback  – I’m Yours (Jason Mraz) and Eight Days A Week (The Beatles).

What you don’t know is that we also attempted to record “Here Comes The Sun” that day, but never really got it right. We still remember the frustration of messing up take after take but have to smile about it now 🙂 . It was a challenge that 14-year old Mona and Lisa were not quite ready for yet.

So, 11 years later we finally did what we set out to do all these years ago and made a video of the song.

Thank you George, for writing it and thank YOU lovely folks for listening!

  1. Maybe not recording it in 09 was a blessing in disguise. I’m sure it would have sounded good but not as good as this. I love these videos of you two just playing and seeing the expressions on your faces and how you interact with each other.

  2. Like Mr. Oliver below – Things here are a veritable mess. But when in need we plug in, tune in, and listen to you heal our souls. Love song and beautifully done.

  3. As a schoolteacher, we have good days and bad days…good periods and bad periods. Unfortunately this morning was rather problematic, resulting in a great deal of stress from both students and from administration. Was feeling quite distraught about everything but I decided to shut and lock my door during a free period and play some MLT. It helped.

Waiting for the sun and the beginning of baseball season…thank you ladies.

  4. Mona and Lisa are just like fine wine, they grow spectacular with age. You really nailed it this time. Absolutely awesome!

  5. Another Mona song, what a treat. Don’t get me wrong, Lisa’s voice is also magic but yo girls get it so right who should sing which songs. This is why the MonaLisa Twins are my go to music. Don’t stop please.

  6. Sorry I’m so late to the show. What a wonderful treat. Great guitar, fabulous singing. A wonderful take on one of George’s best tunes. You both have such vocal range. How on earth do you decide who is singing lead and harmony?

  7. Hi Ladies,
Way to go Mona, great lead vocal! You guys just nailed it. George would be proud. It’s such a great bright song!
    Stay Groovy

  8. Perfect! Couldn’t be better for me.Excellent performance! And you are like two sunshines that give us the warmth of your hearts.

  9. Beautiful all around, from Mona’s sweet vocals, the guitar tone, the backing vocals from Lisa, and most beautiful of all….the 2 of you.
You accomplish what few can do,which is make that emotional connection with the song, and your fans(something sorely lacking with most artists today).
I have no doubt George is smiling down on the 2 of you, definetly my favorite cover of this song.

  10. What a fantastic cover of “Here Comes The Sun,” and you definitely brought sunshine into my life! Thank you! Mona you knocked the vocals out of the park! And, Lisa’s picking was awesome. You both are so, so talented. 🙂
You play so well with each other and the vocals are so amazing. Great video! And, I also watched the video of “Can’t Buy Me Love” at The Cavern again. Another GREAT cover. Awesome performance!!!

  11. As with all of your ballads, your playing and singing gives me “chills” – the good kind! Thank you for returning to this wonderful song and doing such a perfect performance!

  12. What a lovely rendition. This is a deceptively hard song to play well and you shine, as usual. Love how you made it your own with those beautiful (high!) harmonies. This is a special song for me, and that you did it in a Duo Session, makes it even more of a favo(u)rite of mine. The fact that you recorded it as well in Abbey Road Studios, is also mind-blowing. Speaking of “Abbey Road”, what’s going on there on the shelf? Not exactly the album.

  13. I love your Duo Sessions and the thing that I think makes me love them so much is that watching these videos is almost like being in the room with you watching you sing and play. Just you two with guitars playing and singing and we’re right there. Very up close and personal. Your harmonies are so clear. You look like you’re having a great time, too. They’re just a lot of fun to watch!

  14. It is always very interesting to hear the history and challenges of a song in this case 11 years ago.
There is no looking back as this Duo Session was simply superb!
    Thanks for the Memories!

  15. The short pause or rest in the middle of the song was a nice touch, I felt it! And when Mona’s lead vocals start off, wow so beautiful and impactful, it set the beautiful and graceful stage for the entire song. Lisa’s intricate guitar work is remarkable at the beginning, the end, and right through played with great finesse!

  16. My favorite George song – I play it all the time. But I love the way you’ve dropped (raised??) the key to “D” instead of the usual Capo 7 “A” – it gives it a different, slightly more moody feel. A lovely effort!

  17. Oh June come and take the rain away… oh look, here comes the sun! A perfect song for today! Just seeing your smiling lovely faces makes me happy! Thank you for this ray of sunshine!

  18. Such a beautiful song and such a beautiful rendition of it – it made me smile and cry at the same time… Thank you for sharing this with us!

  19. Bravo!! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece. Mona’s vocals are out of this world.
I love how you can update these songs without updating them. You playing on this is amazing.
    You all are true artists.
    One more time

  20. Another great rendition. Love your “shout out” for Australia again! Good to see little old Adelaide is always in your positive memories too!

  21. I have not watched this yet. Based on your reviews I know I am sure to press repeat a few times.
Wait, I think this is my first Friday here. My first new duo session! I can’t wait!
So, I’ll check back in later.

  22. You did an awesome job on Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” and The Beatles’ “Eight Days a Week.” I sure would love to see some of the “Here Comes the Sun” takes at Ayers Rock!
That’s when I first discovered y’all. Blew me away then, and blew me away just now! You are the Sun! ?❤

Used to listen to it on my way up skiing and was going to use it in my ski movie – until I lost my brother’s movie camera in an avalanche 🙂 Such beautiful, uplifting music from my favorite twins in the universe. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You brighten up the world.

  26. Do you know how it feels when you get a gift you’ve been waiting for a long time ?, that’s how I’m feeling now. 28. Here in The USA Pittsburgh PA our governor has lifted us into the green vase today which means we can go out to a restaurant again, get a hair cut, shop etc and this song was perfect for today!!! thank you both so much, again this song is pitch perfect and the guitar riffs are just like George Harrison would love so much! Such a great tune and you both have made it your own!!! Thank you Thank you …..love it!!!

  29. Very good rendition of George’s song. I liked Mona’s singing and Lisa’s guitar playing. Really enjoyed the lift and hammer on the final D chord. As for being hopeful…… eh……we’ll see.

  30. Mona and Lisa,
You are more amazing every time! Fantastic clear lead vocals by Mona, and Lisa’s superb guitar extras on top of the flawless rhythm parts. And you both have never looked more beautiful! Breathtaking and joy inspiring performance by my favorites!
Only way to be in lockdown…

  31. AMAZING! Not surprising of course! Very timely too as I’ve been playing this one a lot lately. A bit surprised you didn’t use a capo though! I can’t fingerpick to save my life but I’ve been learning this song. Great version!

  32. THIS IS NOW MY FAVORITE FAVORITE!!! This revered song was only waiting for you to do it. Only the two of you could launch it’s spirit to the heights you have now done. I am overwhelmed by the joy you have released. Thank you for this beautiful gift!

  33. Perfection made right here, definitely, the sun came , the moment you struck the first guitar chords and begun singing… I agree, you couldn’t chosen a more appropriate song to record for a Duo Sesdion at this time. It is what is needed to be heard, to pick up our cabin fevered spirits. I thoroughly enjoyed this and was positively singing along , too tapping, you uplifted my spirits, with this…Flower Power Sunshine Groovy indeed was eminating most MLTBuzzinglyWorthy and I Thankyou for engaging us all with this arousing wonderful rendition, you’ve put a smile on George’s face wherever his spirit soul is at….and for us all…Kudos !! We All need to Embrace this song…You’ve made my Friday and Wknd.??☮

  34. Wow! How Utterly Beautiful Ladies! I never thought Here Comes The Sun could be improved upon, then again, for me, its become second nature when The MonaLisa Twins cover a song. Mona and Lisa you all Slayed this Cover Big Time. Magnificent.
Thank You all so very much for giving us your Brilliant Gift Of Music.
My eyes are flowing freely and my heart is full. ?❤

  35. Bravo ! You’ve totaly nailed this song one of my all time. Favorite Beatles songs Mona your lead vocals were spot on Well done

  36. Dear Mona & Lisa
I enjoy listening to your music, your own songs and the cover versions.
Here Comes The Sun is such a nice song.
    And you are so sympathic!
    Keep rockin’ and stay groovy!
    Bernd

  37. After days of stormy, wet weather here in Florida, this was a pleasant surprise. We’ve got so much standing water around that frog legs will be added to the menu and then we’ll probably be eaten by the mosquitoes that are soon to come. The tropics are always a fluid situation this time of year. Enjoy the sun if you get any.

  38. A really moving performance on this great George Harrison tune. The guitar work and vocals were spot on. Your spring outfits and pretty smiles added even more “sun” to the song.

  39. When I’m needing some optimism, this is the song to play over and over and over again,
Your version is the best. George would absolutely love it.

    Thank you!

  40. Wow, you ladies really blew my mind! What an outstanding, hopeful and optimistic delivery of this great song. Thanks for giving us something so nice to inspire us during these dark moments.

  41. How lovely. The words, the music and the singers all come together beautifully to lift our spirits in these dark times. Thank you for starting another weekend for me on a bright note. Can’t get enough of these perfect duo sessions. I’d love to hear your ’failed’ Uluru version, even if not up to your high standards. I’m sure I’d still enjoy it. I hope the Wagner family are all well and keeping happy in spite of so much of the current ugliness in this otherwise beautiful world of ours. ?❤️
