Playing A Backyard Festival Live Gig – Photos

We’ve played our fair share of quirky stages in unique venues over the years and this one definitely falls into that category.

The Höfefest (translates to Yard Fest) was a newly put on festival in a town near where we grew up in Austria. Private house owners as well as official town buildings opened the doors to their gardens and backyards for a weekend. Bigger and smaller stages with all types of live music, magician and theatre shows, food and drink stands were scattered all throughout town.

So, on the 9th of September 2012 we played a 2 set concert in someone else’s garden – and it was charming! A warm summer evening, a relaxed atmosphere and a cheerful crowd in a beautiful setting.

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Looks like it was a fun and festive atmosphere with families and children too. Great to see your grandparents in the audience, and shots of your old band mates Michael and Phillip too. And as the night went on there was swinging dancing too! Loved those cool stage shots of both of you in action with your Ricky and Gretsch! It was so fun to see these, thanks for sharing another glimpse into your on stage and off stage fond musical moments from the past!!!

  2. Those lucky people! The chance to see Mona and Lisa live in such a beautiful and intimate setting would be amazing. I’m repeatedly impressed by your command of the stage even as teenagers. I’m looking forward to seeing my favorites play some originals off Orange someday…

  3. This happens on rare occasions here in the States. One I remember was Maroon 5.
This looks like a fairly good sized crowed. Bet it was unique.
How did it compare to the Frat Party? As far as atmosphere, and venue.
Really interesting story and experience. Thanks for sharing Ladies.

  4. Cool concept, perhaps in Canada, somewhere they have done this but not in Ottawa, unless it was a during Ottawa Ex, The Buskers Festival on Sparks Street, etc….though the way things are with this virus, and already musicians doing up live gigs from their homes, USA / Canada have already aired on tv such an event respectively, perhaps, this could be the new trend in future for live gigs, that is, do one up in your own backyard or parking lot behind some building, on a rooftop of apt/condo highrise or small park, mall parking lot , safely away from huge crowds or safely distance performers from a limited crowd setting in the parking lot scenarios …. but this is indeed, a groovy festival concept, that I’m happy you participated in as opportunity came knocking….luv the photos, I can see fun and good times and food/ drink, the awesome music was had and enjoyed by all who were there ???✌☮
