On the airwaves in Kansas City, KKFI 90.1 FM – Radio Interview

Kansas City, hey, hey, hey!

Last week we talked to Patrick Lloyd all the way over in Kansas City. He is the host of the “Sunday Morning Musical Mashup” show on KKFI 90.1 FM.

We had a delightful conversation with him about all things MLT, our plans for 2020 and the current situation. Some of you might have caught it live when it aired on Sunday but in case you missed it live, it will be permanently posted here in the “radio interview archive” so you can now listen back to it :

LISTEN: 2020/4/12 Kansas City’s KKFI 90.1 FM with Patrick Lloyd

A big “Thank You” to Patrick for the interview and lovely chat, for playing so many of our songs, for plugging the MLT Club and for allowing us to connect with the lovely folks in Kansas City. We might all be in lockdown but that’s not keeping us from travelling overseas through the airwaves 😉

Anyone from Kansas City or close by?

Big groovy hugs,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Let’s discuss interviews…I recently watched a skyept (spelling terrible) interview you had with Paul Cox and Mona you are just too generous in saying the drummers you guys have had in your “live” performances are much better than you…I know you are being gracious and humble but anybody that listens to and watched your video at age 13 of Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine”..9:40 video that has your drum solo from 6:14-7:26 knows that you are a FANTASTIC DRUMMER…don’t discount yourself and I understand you saying that the band drummers are better than you…I’m just saying phooey…I hope that others who read this check out that video and see for themselves….now this current Kansas City interview…WOW…talk of a tour sometime in the future…hopefully in America..Dallas /Ft Worth, Tx area…but I would go anywhere in the States to see you…now on another note concerning radio and I feel like there’s a connection as I was a country music radio dj and talent coordinator for the non-defunct Dallas /Ft Worth MCMA (Metroplex Country Music Association)…the connection is I believe your birthday is June 16, 1994…..my last day on air as a dj was June 15, 1994….and if your version of Hotel California was around back then I’d have added it to the playlist at the radio station…..THANK YOU Lisa & Mona for being who you are and the graciousness you bring to all that view your videos…❤️❤️❤️

    1. Hey Rick, I couldn’t agree with you more about Mona being a great drummer. I’ve said before that I wish there were more opportunities to see her beating on those skins in the videos, but obviously we only get to see little snippets cause she is so busy doing so many other parts as well! Talk about talent. I started to list all the studio songs they have recorded that I admired her epic drum work on but I gave up because there are just so many. One in particular I really would have liked to see was her work on Club 27. Maybe in the future we’ll be treated to a special video that showcases her awesome percussive skills.

      1. Stephen…A few weeks back I made mention of the Orange CD and that my favorite track is Club 27…absolutely want to see Mona’s drum work on that one …this song is something out of the ordinary with the beat and sound from the rest of the album…the guitars on Club 27 is just mind blowing and Lisa gets the credit for that…she is one of the finest lead players I’ve ever seen…albeit via video….yeah I’m waiting for the video on that one !

      2. Stephen… We All want to see Club 27 in action…. I’ve had visions of how the video could go in my head…. Lol… Mona letting loose on those drums, Lisa’s going wild on guitar… I can see the visuals now… Lol… Would make for a Fab video…. Maybe they will someday… ???

  2. Always love hearing my favorites being their amazing selves and Mona and Lisa getting more recognition for their incredible talents. Your openness and humility are so refreshing. The interviewer Patrick did a nice job tracing your history and the parallels between MLT and the Beatles jump out to me. “When We’re Together “ is your Meet the Beatles, Orange is your Revolver. It’s easy for me to see that just by being yourselves and trusting your abilities,
you ladies have your Sargent Pepper and Abbey Road in the future. I feel so fortunate to have you and your music in our world. MLT Club for life!

  3. It’s just so exciting to hear this kind of “introduction” interview with the two of you being broadcast to a large market. It’s like the feeling a family member gets when someone in their own family achieves some sort of public recognition for excellence. I know that sounds corny but it’s true. All of us here at the Club know how incredibly special you are but it’s a thrill when finding out that you are being recognized by others. Deep in our heart we are pulling for you because we have grown to love and appreciate you so much. Go MLT!

  4. I have been to Kansas City and St Louis MO on a big cross country family road trip from Vancouver through USA to Toronto in the 80s. My dad did all the driving then.
One thing that really stood out as I listened to the entire live program broadcast with all the other featured female duo groups over the years was how remarkable your diverse rich vocals, musicianship, and inspired original and cover songs are. Truly stand out brilliance. As usual you’re both so interesting, and express and carry yourselves so wonderfully in these interviews. Really enjoyed the in-depth insight into your approach to your music style, song creation process, diverse musicianship, strategy of getting your music out to your fans, and all the creative things you do at the MLT Club. Loved hearing your thoughts about the new album. A top notch, fun, super informative interview hosted by Patrick Lloyd. Hearing MLT music on air was awesome. Thank you, loved it all!

What a clever answer by Lisa to what you’d take to a deserted island. Some nice album suggestions there to check out!

  5. Very nice job by Patrick. He obviously knows talent when he hears it! Love hearing the ladies talk (although I still can’t really tell which one is which) I hope this is the start of the MonaLisa invasion of the US!

  6. Great interview and musical selection. Even when we have heard your story a hundred times, it is still a great pleasure to hear you tell it for a 101st time. I’m never tire of hearing you.
I wish you’ll reach many new US listeners.

  7. Thank you for sharing this, so all can enjoy listening to it time and again and/or from first but not to be last time,. I thoroughly enjoyed it, Patrick offered up fab Qs for you, loved hearing what all was said, a humdinger of a great interview in which I truly hope will emerge some new MLTBuzzGroovies as a result ☮?✌
