She Loves You – Live At The Cavern Club

Yeah, yeah, yeah, ooooooh *headshake*

“She Loves You” … the UK’s best-selling single of the 60s. If you had to describe the British invasion or Beatlemania in one song, “She Loves You” would be a pretty damn good pick, wouldn’t you agree?

It’s one of those songs that’s way more complex than it seems, and to make it sound good at the Cavern was trickier than it might look on video. But we love it. A classic, important tune that definitely belongs in the Cavern.

We hope you enjoy the video,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Mona & Lisa,

I also enjoyed your version here very much! As for energy, or tempo I don’t see your energy or tempo dropping. I checked 2 videos of the Beatles doing this song, and their tempo was a little faster, but you don’t have to copy their tempo exactly to do the song right. On another night, I would bet that your tempo could be slightly different. If you’ve ever played in a band, you’ll find that tempos can vary slightly, even within a piece of music, because we’re not machines. Sometimes when we’re rehearsing in the band I’m in, someone will get a metronome reading. But we never check a metronome tempo for
songs during a concert! But I did check this ML version, & the tempo was ABOUT 144 beats p/minute. The Beatles tempo was ABOUT 152 p/min. Not that much difference.
But that didn’t take away from your performance, which I LOVED! Great performance ladies & band mates! Sorry to be a critic for the critic! No hard feelings! — Bud

  2. I was 3 years old when this came out and my parents bought this single for me. I still have it. What parents I had! A lot of people forget that in those days the Beatles were so big in England you had to order their latest single in advance before it had come out (and you had heard it!). This is a fantastic performance from the MLT. I’ve only just discovered MLT and again this is very very good. Thank you. Steve

  3. A very good pick indeed. The girls went absolutely crazy and I enjoyed playing it on a new Sears Silvertone with the amp in the guitar case. OMG that was nuts, Twang Twang Twang as I sang. Wow that could be a song. Having fun now. Groovy!

  4. I was chilling out to this (and the whole CD) and I thought I heard somebody say “oops!” at the 1:19 mark? I love live audio!

  5. a good start, but then the energy of the song goes away. It’s like everything’s a little slow.I’m sorry I’m such a strict critic

  6. I just received my new “Live at the Cavern Club” in the mail. As a long time creative director in the states, I have to compliment you on the beautiful design and packaging!

The attention to detail is much appreciated. The double gatefold design, printed CD’s, promotional post card, double sided guitar pick … even the packing slip is fun with the creative photo of Mona & Lisa wrapped in Christmas lights. The complete package is phenomenal!

And, I know the best is yet to come because I’m about to listen to the music!

    Thanks for everything you’re doing.

    All the best,
    J.

  7. Yaaay!! Got my package on Tuesday! Thank you!! That little 1960’s kid inside me got to come out and play once more! She Loves You , yeah, you nailed it, and the whole Cavern Club album is filled with moments like this. I’m no music critic I’m just a guy who grew up in that whole era so my preference is in classic rock and roll, and I put the MonaLisa Twins right up there with the best of them. For my money, no one comes close to what you do. And that poster…you have to see it in its full size to realize how awesome it is! Well I’m rambling on but it do want to shout out a thank you to your dad for the work he does on your albums. A true professional that makes sure we always get our money’s worth and more. Plus he has raised two very groovy daughters…Peace and Love from across the pond in Albion New York.

  8. Hi, Mona and Lisa! This is fantastic! This is my all-time favorite Beatles song, and you really rocked it!
Your band is really good. I wish I would have been there.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with all of us. The world is that much richer because of you.
After watching this video, we all know we should be, and we are, GLAD! Yeah, yeah, yeah, Y E A HHH!!!
    Love and groovy hugs,
    David “DJ”

  9. Ladies, that was GREAT. Takes me back to when The Beatles played it on the Ed Sullivan Show…way back in 1964. Great job, gave me chills up and down my spine !! Peace, Love and Happiness

  10. Once again,,,,You Nailed It!!!
Absolutely amazing cover.Thank You Mona! Thank You Lisa!
When are getting the DVD of the show???
Love to the whole MLT Team

  11. I love it when you guys use the GoPro on Lisa’s guitar. I wonder who first suggested that? Hmmm

I also like how you are releasing these little by little. It’s like waiting for Christmas each week. I can not wait to play the whole show.

Oh, and this is fantastic. While a challenging song is played to perfection, you look like you you are having too much fun.

    ‘You chicks rock!

    JP

  12. Great version perfectly played, you got all the details down. I notished Mona even played the D chord the same way as Lennon did, with the littlefinger on the D string. Impressive

  13. I first heard the song when I was 10 years old in 1964. I had never heard music like that before and it stopped me in my tracks. From that point on music changed.

  14. Easily the best of the early Beatles songs – still has the power to excite with that opening drum burst. Wonderful version as always. Just received my Cavern bundle – late thanks to the vagaries of Royal Mail these days. Thank you for the guitar pick, now I just need a guitar to go with it !

  15. You both, and the boys, captured the whole essence and feel of the song and yet more in your performance within its finest environment and most excited audience – The Cavern. The brilliant camerawork and acoustics on my big screen wired to my sound system made me feel as if I was actually there right at the front sharing in that driving excitement and certainly gave me goosebumps – as indeed so many of your Cavern performances have done. Whilst great to watch online, am hoping you will release the full Cavern repertoire, blended together as if one single concert performance, on DVD at some stage? You delight, you excite and you are certainly getting it all right. You are keeping great feel-good music, including your own beautiful compositions, alive. Wonderful. Loving it all. More please! ????????

  16. Great live cover. Great harmonies and instrumentation certainly nails it for me. Just waiting on my discs to arrive here in Adelaide from Liverpool!

  17. Hey Mona and Lisa!

What a great song and you nailed it! I think all of us MLT club members would agree that we would love to see you take the show on the road so we can all get excited about the “MLT Invasion” and see you in person! MLTmania! That would be great! I’m so excited about you and your music and so happy for you that you are such talented and exciting performers. Can’t wait to see what you do next. I also can’t wait to hang my signed MLT poster in my music room. Hope it gets here soon. Take care and stay safe during these crazy times.

  18. I love you yeah yeah yeah! Fantastic as always! Love how your drummer was doing the Ringo head shake! I can see why you miss live performing!

  19. Excellent. Those guitar tones you get are perfect.
I used to play this song in my band and it was one I had to really concentrate on.
I haven’t played it in a while now but from memory there are C chords at the start and end, Bm in the verses which changes to Cm in the choruses, or something like that. Very unusual and it sounds horrible if you mess them up!!!

  20. Yeah yeah yeah and the Beatle cut hair was their gimmick that got it all started and everything went crazy after that…for those in America “She Loves You” was after “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”…America was the last country they conquered….the rest of the world received She Loves You before I Wanna Hold Your Hand…so therefore the gimmick was in play before America….but they proved many times over they were much better than any gimmick…now you girls have a gimmick also…TALENT…I seriously believe that what you have is God given and hopefully you’ll be able to share that TALENT with the world for many years to come…and that means putting that band back together and hitting the road…The MonaLisa Twins should be playing the major venues around the world…so when you’re ready to come to Texas you let me know and this former “cheesy” country music DJ will get things in motion here….You are fantastic and I Love You❤️????

  21. Lisa and Mona, A GREAT RENDITON !!! Loved it. You two are amazing,
Can’t wait for the cd to arrive. Stay Groovy Girls.

  22. That was an awesome rendition of “She Loves You.” Would love to have been there, but a great video of the live performance is the next best thing! Thank you for putting it up there! I loved it, yeah, yeah, yeah, oooooh! Love you two, too. ????????❤

  23. Oh yeah, you sound so awesome. I like your version of this the best. Your vocals give this song a magic boost I never experienced before. Mona and Lisa, you are the best, love it!

  24. You not only captured the music of this iconic song perfectly, you also managed to capture all of its excitement and fun as well! I’m really groovin’ with this!

  29. Such a great song and you both did a fantastic job with this song. YEA YEA YEA felt like I was sitting in 1964 watching the Beatles sing this on the Ed Sullivan show. You ladies are the best and this song is what we need to get us thru a Friday and to kick us into the weekend. Thank you Thank you so much. Watching this video tells us that you both love this music and you keep it going in 2020.
