When We’re Together – Live At The Cavern Club

The next one is an original …

Our shows at the Cavern were always a little more cover-heavy than regular MLT shows. After all, it was an extremely popular tourist destination for Beatles / 60s fans. On most nights the crowd would consist in large parts of people pilgrimaging from all over the world to experience the legendary Beatles venue first-hand and hear the kind of music that would have been performed there in the 60s.

That being said, we always sprinkled in at least a couple of originals in every set. Since we often write in a similar style to the songs we cover they fit the venue perfectly. On our final show there many people in the audience came specifically to see us, so they got an extra kick out of hearing these songs off the “When We’re Together” album. 🙂

Today you can hear us play the title track … “When We’re Together”.

Enjoy!

  1. So this shows you the creativity of the Mona Lisa Twins. Great Tune, great lyrics, cool drum parts, great rhythm playing by Mona and slick guitar work by Lisa. To me? That is a formula of a well balanced song from beginning to end and on top of that? A catchy tune as well! So talented

  2. Generally a happy song which we need a lot of these days. When you two are together playing, great music is guaranteed. This song, in particular, would stand up well with music done in the 1965 to 1967 time period. Also, I have said it before, I really like the camera shot from the side which has the Gretsch in front then Lisa and then Mona. I really do like your music and your progression through the years. Mike.

  3. A great MLT original song. It always puts me in a better mood whenever I hear it. Love to see you perform it live.

  4. Hey Mona and Lisa!

I’m so glad to see your performance of When We’re Together! It’s one o my favorite songs and the When We’re together cd is just great! I love every song on the cd. Thanks for the video.

  5. WOW!! One of my favorite songs at one of my favorite venues, by my absolutely two favorite singer songwriters and their band!! I was so fortunate to see you play “When We’re Together” at The Cavern when I went to Liverpool. What an experience! It blew me away when you played it, and it is still one of my favorite songs. Love, love, love this video! Such a great memory for me, and I’m sure countless others. Thank you for posting.

  6. Thank you for sharing this video of your great performance at the Club! So much energy and spot on vocals is what drives this song! And the guitar riffs are super! That had to be a great experience playing there, it is exciting for us who has never been there. I have said before your original music is perfect and with the new album of originals in the making? It is well worth the wait. You both deliver with great vocals and song writing and playing makes us witness how wonderful you both are and how blessed we are to hear you sing and play. Will there ever be a DVD of this performance? I ask because we all love to see you live and with the world in the state it is in, this would be a great DVD to see of your live performances. Thanks again and keep it coming with your love and spirt. The world needs you both to make our days brighter!

  7. Another great performance that really makes me want to see you play live. You both have such great stage presence; such charisma. What a tight band working in perfect synch with other looking like you’re having a great time! When We’re Together is an uplifting rocking, infectious song. Like Rick Twomey mentioned in his comment it makes me think its about you two or maybe about you and your audience when you’re playing live. Thanks for posting this.

  8. Man I love Mona’s guitar sound. Having played your debut album a couple of times yesterday on the Jukebox, no slouch on the skins either – though Charlie is a hoot live.

  9. Of all your videos I really enjoy the “live” band performances …it takes me back to a time in my life when as “talent coordinator” for the Metroplex Country Music Association of the Dallas / Ft Worth area I would spend my nights at various clubs studying each musician for their expertise on their instrument…are they enjoying what they’re doing and is what they’re doing infectious throughout the crowd or are they just going through the motions …YOU GUYS look like you want to be there and are enjoying what you’re doing and this includes your bass player and drummer…Charlie is a hoot on those drums and very photogenic….whenever I’m playing your “When We’re Together” album I always think of you two girls being together your whole life that I can’t even imagine somebody else …like a boy friend or husband…being a part of your life….so when I hear When We’re Together it’s the two of you…and…I’ll go further with the Beach Boy song “God Only Knows” what I’d do without you…it’s not about a boy friend or husband…it’s about YOU…you’ve been together since birth..to me they are both very “moving” songs….THANK YOU FOR THESE LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEOS……a couple of other favorites off this album are “June” and “I Want To KISS You”……I think you girls are fabulous songwriters and I’m waiting anxiously for your 3rd original CD to see what direction your music is taking this time…your 2nd CD Orange was quite different from the 1st with songs like Close To You and Club 27 absolutely classics in my mind….where are we going next ….I love MLT Club and all that you do and I know that Papa Rudi and Michaela are a big part of it and Thanks to all 4 of you for the product you give us every week❤️????

  10. I love these cavern performances. Your videographer is a real wizard at capturing the energy of the band. It does feel like we are there, but better. Kinda gives front row a new meaning.

When I first started checking out MLT, I found myself wondering where I had heard that song before, or who sings this originally? Wow, your originals sound like songs pulled from a time capsule. I can not get enough of these ‘new/old’ songs. They are true masterpieces. When We’re Together is a perfect example of where have I heard this before. It’s not that it sounds familiar, like a copy, but more like it’s gotta be from the sixties or seventies, and I know all of the good music from that era, so I must have heard it somewhere, it’s right on the tip of my tongue…are you sure this isn’t one of those rare Beatles songs?

I love the use of the go-pro . It is such a kool way to capture Lisa’s solos. Perfect. Mona was made for Richenbacher, or vice versa. You look like your having a blast and it looks like it’s just your size.
The boys look like they are having the time of their lives, too. How can you not love a band that smiles in unison? You all seem to be very tight.

Thanks for sharing these. They are truly mind blowing awesome.

  11. I love the optimism! Ah, the joy of youth – it’s what I miss most from the 1960’s. Thank you for bringing it back 🙂

  12. Fantastic.
Really impressed with Lisa especially. Playing the riff, strumming the chords, ripping out the solo and those great string bend fills, slamming the whammy bar, and even switching pickups, all the while singing and smiling and jumping around.
    You both are so talented.

  13. That was the first time seeing a live version of my favorite fast rock and roll song off When We’re Together! It fits right in there with all the classic Beatles songs and others, superb! Lovely guitar riffs ring out wonderfully! I always loved the lyrics to that song about just being so happy and wanting to give your best to the one you love. Awesome song! Thanks for brightening my day.

  14. This song is just so upbeat -you simply can’t help drumming on the table and singing along with it. I would have giving anything to have been there at your last performance at the Cavern. Thank you for putting these videos out. Can’t wait for them all to be out so that I can experience the whole show together and pretend I was there. Maybe when they are all out you could link them up so that there is a single video of the entire performance?!!!

    1. Come to think of it, why don’t you create a CD of your last Cavern show and put in for sale in your store? It could include some additional footage of the two of you and perhaps Rudi and Michaela relating some of the experiences you all had during these Cavern shows.I will be your first customer!

  15. That is one of my all time favorite MLT songs! The melody and lyrics are so infectious and I love watching you perform! You have great stage presence which is also very infectious. You look like you’re having a blast which makes you so fun to watch. By the way, I love the When Were Together cd. All of the songs are great. I can’t wait to hear your next cd.

  16. Lisa & Mona you really sound great on this take. I hope you do some of my other favorite from that cd. Dreams, Wide wide land, I want to kiss you. Last but not lease All about falling in love. As usual your singing and guitar playing were superb. Especially the lead. Stay great and Groovy..

  17. This song speak volumes about the two of you. When You’re Together, you can conquer the world, play the best music in the world, write some of the most beautiful music ever recorded, harmonies to die for, and a sound that is pure perfection. Without each other you would be missing something Magical.
Ladies, you have and continue to supply us with countless MonaLisa Twins Magic. Thank You.?❤

  18. A really fab live vibe given to this rendition, and it completely compliments with/to your set from that evening, perfectly… Enthusiastically I was singing along while watching, it felt like I was actually there in person ….That’s a Groovy Feeling, to perform and resonate that magic to those that weren’t there but yet you ‘ve created the opportunity with this, Thankyou, Made My Friday ??☮

  19. Yes, definitely fits in with the sixties beat era vibe, and what a wonderful song and album title for your debut. “When We’re Together” says so much about who you are and what you do. Thanks so much for sharing this gem from this your final show. ?❤️
