Day 9

We’ve recorded another MLT Club Duo Session for Friday, this time letting the little baby in our guitar family play: Our ukulele!

It’s one of those songs that we’ve performed live for ages and that we really enjoy, but one that we’ve never recorded and filmed properly. Time to change that! Those of you who know a lot of our live radio performances or have been to some of our shows will have heard us do it before. Being a ukulele song kind of narrows it down.

Can you guess? It’s going live on Friday!

  1. Well, in Lisa’s arms and with Mona’s nutrition, baby Uke might grow up to be a terrific tenor guitar. Might even live long enough to become a bass ?

On Friday, we’ll hear baby uke’s cries, with the MonaLisa Twins singing, and I’ll think to myself, what a wonderful world. ??

  2. I Don’t Know Birds That Well
is one of my favorites, but I think you are talking about a cover song?
I don’t know birds that well, either, but I know that whatever you do; it will be awesome! 🙂

    1. Thanks Jota, that is one of the many benefits of having a sound engineer and producer as our Dad. He makes us sound great 😉 He knows how to the get the best sound in both optimum and pretty terrible situations.

    1. Interesting, a lot of people have guessed this song! Maybe, maybe not, it’s a waiting game now 😉 3 more days to go …

  3. Awww, Uke needs some nourishment. Poor baby.?
Lampi Bampi keeping watch on the shelf.
    Looking forward to Friday!?
As for the song? I think I’ll wait. Pretty sure I know. ?

      1. That’s why baby Ukey enjoys it so.
I would have water till he got thru eating to bathe him though??

  4. I bought my youngest son a ukekele, chordbooks and some George Formby CDs a few years ago. After a couple of enthusiastic weeks he lost interest and they’ve been back in the box ever since! I’m not the hugest fan of the instrument and in my opinion the rendition by Paul McCartney posted earlier explains why ha ha ?. However I am sure Mona and Lisa will work their ukelele magic and I look forward to being converted!

  5. For those who are interested in ukuleles, you might want to check out the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. They do a lot of touring around the globe. I think they are great musicians and really funny, too.

    1. What a nice story. 🙂 George even carried a bunch of Ukeleles around in the trunk of his car too. Sounds like he really loved Ukes!

  6. Awesome! You know when Lisa’s Ukeleles come out to play it’s going to be something wonderfully bright and happy. Well based on the hints provided, my guess would be Patience and Prudence “Tonight You Belong to Me”? I guess will find out on Friday. Can’t wait! 🙂

    1. I never really appreciated the Ukelele as a serious instrument until I came across your God Only Knows cover where you really transformed that song with your Uke and of course your harmonies too. And never knew George Harrison was such a big Ukelele fan too, and thought I’d share that video of Paul’s tribute to George with a Ukelele that you posted Lisa in the forum a while ago in case others missed it. Really touching.

  7. I’m with MLTBuzzing Groovy anticipation for Friday already… Lol… I’ve got a few guesses in my head as to what uke infused song it shall be of… I can fondly recall a late uncle of mine who was quite musical minded and sang, pkayed, uke, piano, sax, trumpet, etc, I have fond memories of when we’d go visit them up hear Toronto every summer and he and I would sit at their old hightop piano and sing together… Yup, loved the sounds of uke from early age, then… Along came discovering you, ended up buying, Yeppers, a Purple basic uke in which I have yet to, if ever, to tackle to learn playing… While I know the concepts to playing, unfortunately my brain connection to fingers don’t agree and thus coordination makes it impossible, I can tinker around though…. Curse of the wee hands and short stubby like fingers… Not quite the proper for guitar /Uke playing, but hey I’ll try…. ?

  8. I’m crossing my fingers that it’s “Tonight You Belong To Me”. I first heard that song done as a duet by Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters in the movie “The Jerk”, and it’s still the first song I think of when I hear the word “ukulele”.
