Day 16
It’s that time of the week again! We’re recording another Duo Session! This time it’s a completely new song we have never done before. One we’ve loved forever! We always felt like it was missing some harmonies, so we took the freedom to rearrange it slightly.
This time we’re going more electric, using the stomp box, and switching our acoustic guitars for our Rickenbackers (guitar and bass!).
It’s a song written by two brothers (hint, hint) and we’ve seen it suggested in the Forum, too! It’s been on our to-do list for a while now, and you’ll be able to hear it on Friday. Anyone want to guess?

I am thinking it will be something from the Everly brothers. I am from Madisonville, Kentucky and they were from Central City, Kentucky which is 30 minutes from me.
By the way I just found out it is National Twins Day today. I just want to say Happy Twins Day to 2 very beautiful ladies that play great music and I love your harmonies. Keep up the great sound.

Well, I misled you a little: I’m “from” Kentucky, but not “in” it. I was born and raised in Lexington, but I’m living in North Carolina now. But my parents and siblings are all still in central KY, so I visit there a lot.
I don’t think I’ve ever been to Madisonville, although I have passed near it once or twice driving along what used to be called the Western KY Parkway.
Looking forward to Friday! I see the Kinks up there, with some Shaved Fish. Do the “Nerk Twins” count as brothers?
Either way it will be fab to see you with a couple of BeatleBackers!

I’m hoping it’s Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks but Cathy’s Clown is a good possibility also. All I want to do is Dream wasn’t written by the Everly brothers so scratch that favorite. Friday we’ll all know which new song you took the plunge on.

We got away lightly this year! I looked in the mirror this morning before having my coffee but other than that – no Krampuses were seen in the Merseyside area this winter.
Following are previous posts with my requests:

That is a tough one. Was thinking Everly Brothers, but the Kinks also consist of 2 brothers. Given you say they could do with some harmonies, and you are going to use electric guitars, my guess is the Kinks . Tired of Waiting for You , Waterloo Sunset, Sunny Afternoon were all requested. Tired of Waiting for You could do with more harmonies, so that is my guess, but any of these 3 would be awesome. 🙂
If that Kinks Face to Face album sitting on the shelf has anything to do with a hint, then I change my choice to “Sunny Afternoon” as neither Tired of Waiting nor Waterloo Sunset are on that album, but Sunny Afternoon is and it was also requested in the forum. I will go with Sunny Afternoon. 🙂

Well the Everly Brothers didn’t write “Bye, Bye Love”, so I’m going with “Cathy’s Clown” if it’s the Everleys. Ray and Dave Davies didn’t write together but if it’s a Kinks number, I’m going with Ray Davies’ “Waterloo Sunset”.

I thought Everly Brothers too, maybe “All I Have To Do Is Dream” or “Bye Bye Love” or “Wake Up, Little Susie”… but wait, “missing some harmonies”? That doesn’t sound like Everly Brothers… Besides, those were all written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, weren’t they?
So, I dunno.
Well I’m sure you’ll find a cover of “All I Have To Do Is Dream” there somewhere Rich, I think they were only around 16 years old from memory and they’ve definitely done a live cover of “Wake Up, Little Susie”.

Yep, I knew about “All I Have To Do Is Dream”… YouTube tells me I watched it as recently as August 28. Forgot about it for a few moments yesterday though!
Which is not to say you couldn’t do a remake. After almost nine years, you might come to it with new ideas.
